Hizbullah Claims Rockets Can Reach All of Israel

Hizbullah Claims Rockets Can Reach All of Israel.(INN).The Hizbullah terror leadership claimed Monday that its missiles can now reach all of Israeli territory. Speaking at a ceremony in southern Lebanon, Nabil Ka'uk announced from the podium that “Hizbullah rockets can reach all Israeli settlements,” referring to Israeli towns and cities. The reference by Ka'uk, who is deputy director for Hizbullah's terror activities, included all territory, including that liberated in the 1967 Six Day War, and those that preceded it.
Ka'uk's leader, Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah, also continues to threaten Israel with annihilation, but does so only from the safety of a hideout whose location is known to very few of his closest advisers. Last month Nasrallah addressed massive halls of supporters, separated by gender, who listened as he spoke to the families of those who were killed during the 2006 Second Lebanon War with Israel. His address was heard, as usual, via a video link, in the "Shahid" Hall in Haret Hreik, Beirut. IDF military intelligence experts have estimated that Hizbullah has stockpiled tens of thousands of missiles in varying ranges, all of which are pointed at various locations within the Jewish State.Read the full story here.

"We need more Government Bailouts" - Taxpayer loss on auto bailout revised upward to $25b!

"We need more Government Bailouts" - Taxpayer loss on auto bailout revised upward to $25b!(DN).Washington -The Treasury Department says in a new report the government expects to lose more than $25 billion on the $85 billion auto bailout. That’s 15 percent higher than its previous forecast.
In a monthly report sent to Congress on Friday, the Obama administration boosted its forecast of expected losses by more than $3.3 billion to almost $25.1 billion, up from $21.7 billion in the last quarterly update.
The report may still underestimate the losses. The report covers predicted losses through May 31, when GM’s stock price was $22.20 a share.
On Monday, GM stock was trading down 6 cents, or 0.2 percent, to $20.49. At that price, the government would lose another $850 million on its GM bailout.
The government still holds 500 million shares of GM stock and needs to sell them for about $53 each to recover its entire $49.5 billion bailout.Hmmm.....Obama: "All the Choices We've Made Have Been the Right Ones".Read the full story here.

Three Chinese Warships Dock in Israel's Haifa harbor for a Five day 'visit'.(DN).Three Chinese warships from the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) docked in Haifa Aug. 13 for a five-day visit here as guests of the Israel Navy. Led by Rear Adm. Yang Junfei, deputy commander of the PLAN’s North China Sea Fleet, the Chinese contingent will tour multiple sites throughout the country in honor of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Jerusalem and Beijing. In an interview last spring, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief of staff, told Israel’s Yediot Ahronot, “You almost won’t find a point in time that nothing is happening somewhere around the world.” Gantz spent a week in China last May as guest of PLA Commander Gen. Chen Bindnge. It was the first visit by an IDF chief of staff since 1996 and was aimed to strengthen Sino-Israeli ties in light of Beijing’s growing interests in the Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf regions.Hmmmm....."May you live in interesting times"....Indeed.Read the full story here.

Obama planning a '$150 million cookout' at the pentagon and other places?

Obama planning a '$150 million cookout'at the pentagon and other places?(Cato).By Ilya Shapiro.Surprisingly, President Obama’s first direct attack on Paul Ryan since the congressman’s selection as Mitt Romney VP nominee doesn’t involve the threat of grandma being pushed off a cliff. Instead, it involves the latest farm bill, which has too many subsidies and food-stamp increases for House Republicans’ tastes (good for them).
Now, I’m no expert in agriculture policy — for more on farm bills and related disasters, I recommend my colleague Sallie James’s work — but one provision in the disputed legislation caught my eye: Apparently the federal government plans to buy over $150 million of meat and fish."That'll help ranchers who are going through tough times right now and also over the long term," Obama said.
"That food is going to be spent by folks over at the pentagon and other places."
Sounds like a great cookout, but what gives the government the power to do that? Where exactly is the Constitution’s BBQ Clause?Hmmm......I guess the U.N. got their answer about giving an 'Ethanol waiver'.Read the full story here.

Obamacare Mandate: Sterilize 15-Year-Old Girls for Free--Without Parental Consent.

Obamacare Mandate: Sterilize 15-Year-Old Girls for Free--Without Parental Consent.(CNSN).By Sabrina Gladstone. Thanks to an Obamacare regulation that took effect on Aug. 1, health care plans in Oregon will now be required to provide free sterilizations to 15- year-old girls even if the parents of those girls do not consent to the procedure. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius finalized the regulation earlier this year. It says that all health care plans in the United States--except those provided by actual houses of worship organized under the section of the Internal Revenue Code reserved for churches per se--must provide coverage, without cost-sharing, for sterilizations and all Food and Drug Administration-approved contraceptives to “all women with reproductive capacity.”
In practical terms, "all women with reproductive capacity" means girls as young as about 12. That, according to the National Institutes of Health, is when girls usually start menstruating. In July 2011, this committee issued a report that said: “The committee recommends for consideration as a preventive service for women: the full range of Food and Drug Administration-approved contraceptive methods, sterilization procedures, and patient education and counseling for women with reproductive capacity.”
The committee report said that “with reproductive capacity” meant “from the time of menarche to menopause.” Menarche is the beginning of menstruation--again, on average, about the age of 12 for American women. On Aug. 1, 2011, HHS announced that it was adopting the IOM committee's recommendation almost verbatim. In fact, it added just one word--placing "all" in front of "women with reproductive capacity." HHS said nothing about restricting the provision of these free "preventive services" to women who were 18 or older, or 21 or older, or even 15 or older. The regulation simply said "all women with reproductive capacity." However, states have varying laws on the age of consent. Hmmm....."As for you, be fruitful and multiply; Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it." ~ Genesis 9:7.Read the full story here.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed  - "the wicked one," referring to the "man of sin," and called "the wicked one" because of the eminent depravity of the system of which he was to be the head; see the notes on 2 Thessalonians 2:3.
Whom the Lord shall consume - The Lord Jesus; see the notes on Acts 1:24.
The word "consume" here - ἀναλώσει analōsei - means "to destroy;" see Galatians 5:15; Luke 9:54.
The word would be applicable to any kind of destruction. The methods by which this will be done are immediately specified - and it is of much importance to understand them, if this refers to the papacy. "With the spirit of his mouth." The Iranian strategic expert “Muhammad Sadek Al Hussaini" revealed info discussed between Iran & Syria.

The Iranian strategic expert “Muhammad Sadek Al Hussaini" revealed info discussed between Iran and Syria.(CSO).The Iranian strategic expert “Muhammad Sadek Al Hussaini”, revealed that the information, documents and papers accumulated by the Iranians, conveyed and discussed by the first man in the Iranian National Security in Tehran “Saeed Jalili” with the Syrians in details, stating that there is a US-NATO decision to turn Northern Syria into an “Al Qaeda” block in the face of the Russian and Chinese influence, similar to the days of fight against the Soviet influence in Afghanistan.
Along with the attempt to open another front against the growing Iranian influence on the base of what Iran calls “the Islamic awakening”, and the West call “The Arab Spring” after the failure of all the attempts of a foreign intervention against Syria.
Al Husseini confirmed that Jalili discussed with the Syrian command, the prospects of a Western dash toward igniting an open regional war prepared by the West and committed by Turkey to be as a”Trap” to Erdogan’s government.
The strategic expert revealed that Jalili confirmed to president Assad Iran’s willingness to stand firmly and without any hesitation toward any plot to manipulate the Syrian national security, and the plan to overthrow Syria is considered by Iran as a direct threat to her national security, not just losing a resistant strategic ally. Al hussaini stressed that Jalili confirmed to the Syrian command that the aggression will return to the enemy in the same level. The Iranian expert quoted president Assad notifying the Iranian command that the potentials of the Syrian Arab army capable of defending Syria with the possibility of changing the rules of engagements in any moments basis the alliance coordination. Al Hussaini said: “In case of any danger against the regional national security of the resistance, we will come to the enemy by Land, Sea and Air, and will fight an open battle so that not one soldier of the enemy will live to tell the world the results of this battle… Hmmmm......."Messieurs les Turcs, tirez les premiers!"Read the full story here.

Video - Obamanomics: A Legacy of Wasteful Spending.

Good stuff, though the video actually understates the indictment against Obama. There is no mention, for instance, about all the new spending for Obamacare that will begin to take effect over the next few years.
But not everything can be covered in a 5-minute video. And I suspect the video is more effective because it closes instead with some discussion of the corrupt insider dealing of Obama’s so-called green energy programs.Read the full story here.

Al-Qaeda 'inspired' Al-Shabaab setting up 'Schools’ to teach Kidnapped Children, kept in chains terrorism 101.

Al-Qaeda 'inspired' Al-Shabaab setting up 'Schools’ to teach Kidnapped Children, kept in chains terrorism 101.(AA).Al-Qaeda has been setting up “terrorist schools” to allegedly confine kidnapped young children and brainwash them into future attacks on western countries, the Daily Mail reported on Sunday.
The “school” keeps the young children, all under the age of ten and some as young as seven, chained to beds while they are taught a very extreme version of Islam, the newspaper stated. It has been claimed that they were also taught about suicide bombings and told they would go to paradise if they committed suicide in “martyrdom operations.” Terror investigator Neil Doyle uncovered pictures of locked-up children after authorities carried out a raid on a school in Mogadishu.
The classes were being carried out at an Islamic boarding school and the children were being taught by a member of the terrorist group al-Shabaab, a group inspired by al-Qaeda.
The raid was one of several operations authorized by the government and led to 200 people being arrested. When caught, the teacher claimed that the children were put in chains as punishment for missing classes. The children’s parents were unaware they were there, reported the Daily Mail.
The images suggest al-Shabaab has turned to slavery in order to produce a generation of child soldiers and suicide bombers.”
Doyle, author of Terror Base UK and Terror Tracker told the Sunday Mirror. “The group has lost a lot of ground to government troops and it almost beggars belief that they have adopted widespread child abuse as a way of trying to engineer a comeback.” He added. Doyle went on to say: “they are following in the footsteps of other militants who target children, unfortunately, like the Afghan Taliban who regularly poison students at girls' schools and shoot teachers.” Terrorist group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for a remote-controlled bomb that killed at least 8 Somali government troops just days before the revelation of the “school” came about. The revelation of the school has heightened fears that al-Shabaab have set their sights on the United Kingdom. Their aims have become even clearer after twin brothers, Shabir and Shafiq Ali, pretended to be charity collectors in the UK, collecting funds for Palestine and the world’s poor, when actually they had been sending the money to their elder brother to give to terrorist organizations in Somalia, the report stated. Iran can build an Nuclear bomb by Oct. 1, Muslim Brotherhood coup hampers Israeli action

Iran can build an Nuclear bomb by Oct. 1, Muslim Brotherhood coup hampers Israeli action.(Debka).At its present rate of enrichment, Iran will have 250 kilograms of 20-percent grade uranium, exactly enough to build its first nuclear bomb, in roughly six weeks, and two-to- four bombs by early 2013, debkafile’s military and intelligence sources report.
Hence the leak by an unnamed Israeli security source Sunday, Aug. 12, disclosing Iran’s progress in developing the detonator and fuses for a nuclear warhead which can be fitted onto Shehab-3 ballistic missiles capable of reaching Israel. Since 20 percent refined uranium is a short jump to weapons grade fuel, Iran will have the capability and materials for building an operational nuclear bomb by approximately October 1. This knowledge is not news to US President Barack Obama, Saudi King Abdullah, Syrian ruler Bashar Assad, or Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu - and certainly not to Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Netanyahu’s comment at the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting Sunday: “All threats against the home front are dwarfed by one – Iran must not be allowed to have nuclear arms!” – was prompted by that deadline.

However Netanyahu and Barak have put themselves in a straitjacket by two lapses:
1. By foot-dragging on their decision for two years, they have led their opponents at home and in Washington – and Khamenei’s office too – to believe that, by turning on the heat, they can hold Israel back from military action against Iran’s nuclear program until it is too late. The time has been used not just for Iranian nuclear progress, but to enlist ex-politicians and retired generals at home and add them to the voices, especially in the White House, which believe Israel can learn to live with a nuclear-armed Iran.
2. Netanyahu and Barak have behaved as though a decision on Iran is in their exclusive province, insulated from the turmoil and change swirling through Israel’s Arab neighbors in the past two years.

But the Middle East has a way of catching up with and rushing past slow-moving politicians:

Sunday, at 10:00 a.m. Netanyahu warned his ministers that no threat was worse than a nuclear Iran. At 17:55 p.m., Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi dropped a bombshell in Cairo. In one fell swoop, he smashed the Egyptian military clique ruling the country for decades, sacked the Supreme Military Council running Egypt since March 2011 and cut the generals off from their business empire by appropriating the defense ministry and military industry.
That fateful eight hours-less-five-minutes have forced Israel’s leaders to take a second look at their plans for Iran.Morsi’s lightning decisions were the finishing touches that proved the Islamist Bedouin terror attacks in Sinai of Aug. 5 fitted neatly into a secret master plan hatched by Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood to seize full control of rule in Cairo – a plan debkafile first revealed exclusively last Friday, Aug. 10.

Netanyahu now faces one of the hardest dilemmas of his political career - whether to go forward with the Iran operation, which calls for mustering all Israel’s military and defense capabilities – especially for the repercussions, after being suddenly confronted with unforeseen security challenges on its southwestern border, for thirty years a frontier of peace.
The exceptional talents of Netanyahu and Barak to put off strategic decisions until they are overtaken by events has landed Israel in an especially perilous plight, surrounded now by a soon-to-be nuclear-armed Iran from the east; threatened Syrian chemical warfare from the north and the Muslim Brotherhood takeover of Egypt to its south.Hmmm........"Pour les vaincre, messieurs, il nous faut de l'audace, encore de l'audace, et toujours de l'audace et la Patrie sera sauvée!" ~ Danton.Translation: "To defeat them, gentlemen, we need audacity, more audacity and always audacity and the Homeland will be saved!"Read the full story here.

Obamagnosis: A Sickness Unto Death.

Obamagnosis: A Sickness Unto Death.(JI).By Prof. Paul Eidelberg.
A Muslim extremist shoots up a U.S. military base and it's called "workplace violence." It’s called "workplace violence" by those suffering from an extreme case of "agnosis," a mental or moral inability to recognize certain human acts as downright evil.
Since this ignorance is quite prevalent in the pronouncements and policies of the Obama Administration, we may reasonably say his Administration is suffering from "Obamagnosis." Let’s see where this agnosis lead us, beginning on the surface and proceeding step-by-step to the profound cause of this mental and moral disorder.
If a Muslim employee of the House of Representatives or of the Senate—or better yet, of the White House—was to shoot up some Representatives or some Senators or members of the President's staff—Aha! this would be nothing more than "workplace violence" or manifestations of Obamagnosis!
Let’s probe more deeply. Obamagnosis is not merely a diagnosis of a flawed human being in the White House. Tens of millions of Americans voted for this man in the 2008 presidential election. Their massive agnosis is mind-boggling. They voted for this man even though he displayed utter contempt for the America!
Even while campaigning for the Presidency, he had audacity—or should I say mental vacuity—to disparage America's most revered foundational documents, the Declaration of Independence and the Federal Constitution. This Obamagnosis is without parallel in the history of politics. What has happened to American Exceptionalism? What is the root cause of this sickness unto death that afflicts tens of millions of Americans? To begin with, we must ask, "Who are the educators of the educators of the tens of millions of Americans who have been rendered so morally and intellectually vacuous by Obamagnosis that a Muslim terrorist attack on a U.S. military base can be called "working place violence" without causing a national uproar?
Can it be the legions of academics who, for more than 100 years, have dominated American colleges and universities? Or am I am painting with too broad a brush? I know it’s not de rigueur to name names, but America’s critical situation compels me to do so.
The academics I am alluding to comprise the multitude of "post-American" intellectuals who, influenced by the crypto-Marxism and historical relativism exemplified in the 1913 publications of Charles Beard and Carl Becker—the former on the Constitution, the latter on the Declaration—rendered these once venerable and foundational documents of the American Republic intellectually obsolete; indeed, decade after decade they have been relegated to the trash heap of history. As a consequence, their principles were nothing to be very proud of, let alone worth fighting and dying for. They no longer even allow us to identify and vehemently denounce America’s existential enemy—the military ideology that precipitated that Muslim’s terrorist attack on a U.S. military base.
Now let us focus on the crypto-Marxism of Charles Beard’s Economic Interpretation of the Constitution of the United States. This book has had so many printings that it has become an icon of the countless historians and political scientists who reduce the ideas and statesmanship of America’s Founding Fathers to their economic interests. This simplistic piece of crypto-Marxism took academia by storm. Indeed, it is still cited uncritically by scholars. It seems never to have occurred to these patriotic scholars that they were insulting America’s greatest statesmen, which does not mean that these extraordinary statesmen should be lionized (but then what shall we then say of today’s politicians?). In any event, given the two pervasive and related academic doctrines of crypto-Marxism and historical relativism, I must say in all candor that "higher education" has corrupted generations of American college and university students.
And since moral relativism is evident at all levels of American education—most conspicuously in the social sciences and humanities—I contend that it is this doctrine, more than any other single factor (such as money, skin color, or the ineptitude of John McCain), that gave Obama a majority of the votes in the 2008 presidential election. Now, since Americans influenced by moral relativism must be deemed either ignorant or dismissive of the universalism of America’s Declaration of Independence, is it not obvious that what is primarily responsible for this widespread ignorance and indifference is academia? Viewed in this unconventional way, Obama’s victory in the 2008 presidential election should be understood as an "electoral" victory of the cynical doctrine of moral relativism over its opponent, the universalism of the Declaration—i.e., that document’s appreciation of "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God." Nor is this all. The eighteenth century regarded the Laws of Nature as the "Moral Law."
What the Declaration calls the "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God" may rightly be construed as the American abbreviation of the Seven Noahide Laws of universal morality.
This is quite evident in the writings of some of the Declaration’s most learned signatories such as James Wilson and John Adams. These men, like the Continental Congress that promulgated the Declaration of Independence, were averse to Jefferson's omission of the name of God and Divine Providence in his initial draft of that document. Finally, and contrary to academic opinion even of scholars of the Straussian school of political science, the natural-cum-moral law doctrine of the Declaration of Independence is rooted not in the political philosophy of John Locke but in the Seven Noahide Laws of the Torah. This may be may confirmed in the writings of Locke’s acquaintance, the greatest Hebraist of the eighteenth century, John Selden, at least of whose lengthy volumes on the Talmud was in Locke’s libarary.*
Summing up, Obamagnosis represents a denial of the natural-cum-moral law. It is precisely this denial that underlies the moral or mental disorder that impels those infected by Obamagnosis—a sickness unto death—to call a Muslim's shooting up of an U.S. military base "workplace violence."Read the full story here.

A Short History of Results of US Aid to Islamists.

A Short History of Results of US Aid to Islamists.(INN).The apparently good news that the United States intends to give the Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt more aid to fight Sinai terror is a bad sign, based on a history of American aid to Islamists, according to former senior IDF officer and Algamor Terror Victim chairman Meir Indor. “The agreements with Islamist elements are not stabile, and generally speaking, the forces that are trained by the Americans in Islamic countries eventually turn their guns against the United States and the West, including acts of terror and war crimes,” he wrote to his e-mail readers Monday. The CIA helped none other than Osama bin Laden, who was taught guerilla warfare by Americans in the war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in 1987. The United States gave bin Laden 60,000 tons of weapons, according to Indor. After the Soviets left, bin Laden’s terrorist organization turned its guns against the Americans and their allies in a world-wide wave of terror, including the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Trade Towers in New York and the Pentagon near Washington. Indor wrote, “Pakistani forces thought to be relatively loyal carried out terror in India, and it is not clear even today if they provided cover for bin Laden during his residence in the country." He sarcastically said, “The Americans learned one lesson, albeit belatedly, and at least did not ask their ally [Pakistan] to help them eliminate bin Laden” last year.
Iran is next on Indoor’s list. The United States, with the cooperation of Israel, helped Iran build a powerful army, which now threatens the entire world with the threat to build a nuclear weapon.
Indor then lists Turkey as another Western ally that has turned around and become an anti-Western Islamic regime, where he said the United States is involved “up to its neck” by having assisted Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan before Islamists began to dominate the government.
“The same thing happened in Gaza,” continues Indor. “The security forces and police were trained with help from America and its European friends and now they serve as Hamas terrorists.” Indor concludes with a warning against U.S. aid to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood government to fight terror n the Sinai, bordering Israel. “The Islamic takeover of the Egyptian army is a threat, and the takeover by [Mohammed] Morsi and his leaders of Egypt’s army should worry the United States as well as Israel. Their emissaries already are sitting at the southern entrance to Israel, and the Egyptian army is parked above the huge underground tunnel system that is a bridge for the flow of forces to the Sinai." The United States is ignoring a series of questions about the Egyptian army, Indor states. He wrote, “How did it happen that the Egyptian army, trained by Americans and equipped with the best of American methods, could not control the Sinai? “Why did they turn a blind eye to global jihad terrorists that infiltrated from Gaza to the Sinai over a long period of time, even during the Mubarak regime? “Isn’t this reminiscent of the behavior of Egypt during the terror of the 50s and 60s that enabled ‘Fedayeen‘ attacks against Israel? Indor suggests that instead of aiding Egypt, the United States should deny Cairo’s requests for military help and to place more troops so close to the Israeli border. “Otherwise,” he warns, “in the next confrontation, Israel will find itself facing a modern Islamic army.”Hmmm......But this might be exactly Obama's goal all along."Israel's staunchest Ally" - Obama admin sells one of the most advanced anti-ship cruise missiles to Egypt.Read the full story here.

Call for Jewish Section on Temple Mount Gains Momentum.

Call for Jewish Section on Temple Mount Gains Momentum.(INN).Calls to create a partition between two sections of the Temple Mount, one for Jewish use and the other for Muslims, are gaining momentum, as police prepare to close off the Mount to Jews for five straight days. The Israel Police intend to deny Jews entry to the Mount from the coming Friday until next Tuesday, supposedly because Muslims are holding celebrations there marking the end of the Ramadan month.
The Temple organizations expressed "deep concern" over the decision, which they say could lead to damage to the Mount's sanctity. "Aside from the disconnection from the Mount and the stoppage of Jewish prayers there, we cannot help but wonder again about the police's hostile attitude to the Jewish bond to the Temple Mount," a statement from the organizations said.
The groups noted that in past years, the Muslim Waqf trust and the Islamic Movement took advantage of similar periods of time, in which the Mount was open to Muslims only, to carry out "irreversible piratical and illegal activity." The construction in Solomon's Stables and the digs carried out at the location of the Temple itself – which caused destruction of Temple artifacts – have always been carried out during Ramadan, they charged.
It is unacceptable that the Jews always wind up with the short end of the stick, the Temple organizations argued: They are kept from entering during Muslim feasts, and are similarly barred during Jewish holidays. Three weeks ago, they note, Jews were forbidden from entering during the Ninth of Av – in which Jews mourn the destruction of the First and Second Temples. The groups joined in a call to adopt an arrangement similar to the one in force at the Cave of Machpela in Hevron, where part of the site is used by Muslims and another by Jews. Jews have exclusive use of the Cave on Jewish holidays, and Muslims enjoy exclusivity on Muslim holidays. The idea has broad support among religious-Zionist Knesset Members. Coalition Chairman Zev Elkin (Likud) has said he supports regulating access to the Mount in this fashion, as has Jewish Home head Minister Daniel Hershkowitz. MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) has submitted a bill to this effect, and MK Otniel Schneller (Kadima) said a bill is unnecessary, and a government decision would suffice.Read the full story here.

Proposed Law Requiring Modesty in Public Places Provokes Debate in the UAE.

Following are excerpts from a TV report on the debate caused by the Proposed modesty law in the UAE, which aired on the Al-Jazeera network on June 28, 2012.

Reporter: Few people have forgotten the scandal of several months ago, when a British tourist and a British expat were caught having sex on a Dubai beach. Anyone who visits the UAE and strolls around its malls will undoubtedly catch a glimpse of tourists and foreign residents engaging in unacceptable and inappropriate behavior, which many locals believe runs counter to the moral values of UAE society.

Federal National Council member Hamad Al-Rahoomi: There is improper behavior, like passionate kissing on escalators, in plain view. The whole world just sitting there watching as two people exchange passionate kisses, or a guy walking in the mall, with his hand [in the pocket] of his girlfriend's pants... These things are unacceptable, just like their see-through or very short clothing, which reveals their underwear. These things are unacceptable. People who reject this have called for legislation that would ban this conduct, in order to preserve the unique character of the country.

Reporter: The issue is still being discussed in UAE society and on social media networks, following the recommendation of the UAE Federal National Council for legislation regarding modesty in public places, which would lead to the punishment of transgressors. Source: Memri.

Mohamed Morsi during Egyptian Presidential Elections Campaign: Conversion of Religion Is Allowed If Not Done in Public

Following are excerpts from a program featuring then Egyptian presidential candidate Mohamed Morsi, which aired on Al-Nahar TV and was posted on the Internet on May 19, 2012.

Audience member: What is your position regarding religious conversion – from Christianity to Islam or vice versa? This is the first part of my question.

Secondly, what is your view on freedom of worship? We know that Article 47 of the 1971 constitution provided for absolute freedom of belief and freedom of worship. Are you in favor of allowing complete freedom of worship?

Thirdly, with regard to the right to build places of worship – you've said in the past that it would be done in accordance with the law. Obviously, everything must be done in accordance with the law. If you were presented with a legislative bill that denies Christians the same right as Muslims to build places of worship, would you approve it, or would you send it back to parliament?

Moderator: Thank you very much. Be brief, as we are running out of time.

Mohamed Morsi: With regard to the first question, about religious conversion, the well-founded principle in Islamic law is that there is no coercion in religion. This means that one must not be forced to believe in a particular religion. It is between me and my Lord. It is between the Egyptian citizen and his Lord. If he wants to change his belief, he is completely free to do so.

There is a common misconception with regard to apostates and their punishment by death. This needs to be clarified. As long as the apostate keeps it to himself, rather than proclaiming it in public, thus becoming a danger to society, he should not be punished in accordance with the Islamic punishment for apostasy.

However, someone who proclaims his apostasy in public, and calls for others to follow suit, is a danger to society, according to its norms, beliefs, laws, and constitution. If somebody acts in a corrupt and erroneous way in his own home, nobody has the religious or legal right to knock on his door, and ask what he is doing. But once his home turns into a den of iniquity, which threatens society, the law and the shari'a intervene. That's with regard to freedom of belief.

With regard to the building of places of worship, your know that our brothers the Copts have the complete right to worship in their own way, according to their creed, and to build their places of worship in accordance with the law. The president no longer has the right to intervene with regard to the construction of some church. You surely know the Church opposed the unified law on places of worship.Source: Memri.

Dr. Aaron Lerner Date: 12 August 2012.
No. I am not writing this to brag. Today, as Egyptian President Morsy got rid of the entire leadership of the Egyptian military I could most certainly be proud to note that I am one of the very few who consistently warned from day one that Morsy the chess player would move faster than all the predictions.
And one of the few that didn’t embrace the narrative that Morsy was stuck honoring for the foreseeable future a delicate balance with the leaders of the Egyptian military. But I am not writing this note to brag. I am writing it to warn. For years the Egyptians have been trying to erode the Sinai force restrictions set in the peace treaty they signed with Israel. Force restrictions that were a necessary condition for Israel agreeing to restore the Sinai to Egyptian control. The Egyptians see the force restrictions as impinging on their sovereignty. We always considered the force restrictions as critical for the Jewish State’s national security and, frankly speaking, with the Moslem Brotherhood leading Egypt, we need the force restrictions more than ever.
This evening we find ourselves with massive Egyptian forces deployed literally on our border. And as Arab affairs expert Ehud Yaari just noted on the Channel Two Television Evening News broadcast, we now have no idea if those tanks, attack helicopters, mobile artillery pieces, etc. are going to actually be moved back in a few days. These next days – possibly hours – may be critical.
This is the time for the establishment of a very clear timetable for when this equipment is going to be removed from the area. One that leaves nothing open to interpretation. One that provides for this equipment to be removed from the area regardless of the outcome of the current operation. I want to repeat now something that to my utter shock I have found that otherwise ostensibly knowledgeable Israelis are not aware of: under the treaty, the Egyptians can put as many cops as it wants near the border. This isn’t my interpretation. The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed this. Even Mohamed Bassiouny, Egypt's former ambassador to Israel from 1986 to 2000 told Al-Masry Al-Youm almost a year ago (25/08/2011) “the treaty allows Egypt to put any number of police personnel in this section.” And the quality and training of those cops is at the discretion of Egypt. To repeat: Egypt can have tanks, attack helicopters, etc. in the area for a few days, but beyond that they are going to have to make do with forces in police uniforms carrying the kinds of weapons that police can bear. And given that Egypt can take its most elite commando units and do the paperwork to make them police and deploy them in the border area they can most definitely get the job done – if they want – and still honor the treaty. This is not the time for wishful thinking. This is not the time to wait and see how things progress. The United States witnessed the signing of the treaty. They most certainly should be brought up to speed regarding our concerns as we also communicate them directly with Egypt. President Putin should also be aware. Countries with a vested interest in the stability of the neighborhood such as our Saudi neighbors and the Gulf states who are now providing critical financial support for Egypt should also know of our concerns. Better to douse the fire when it is still small than wait for the conflagration. We simply can’t afford to play tic-tac-toe with this Egyptian chess player. NATO official: Israel won’t soon have unanimous support for Iran strike.

NATO official: Israel won’t soon have unanimous support for Iran strike.(Haaretz).The commander of the NATO mission in Libya that toppled Muammar Gadhafi's regime last year vehemently opposes a military strike on Iran at this time, regardless of whether it would be carried out by Israel or the United States. Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard, who retired from the Royal Canadian Air Force four months ago, told Haaretz in an exclusive interview Sunday that he doesn't believe Israel would take such an illogical and irresponsible step as to attack Iran without international support. And NATO won't unanimously support a military campaign against Iran any time soon, he said, nor will the UN Security Council.
As someone familiar with Israel's senior military leadership, because of his work at NATO, Bouchard said he is convinced that Israel will not set in motion a process that could lead to chaos in the entire region, by launching a military attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. The military option, he said, could be a boomerang that will end up harming Israel and uniting the entire Muslim world against it. The chance of a 100 percent success rate in a military operation is infinitesimally small, said Bouchard, adding that Israel won't get a second chance and that it won't be a quick lightning strike like the Six-Day War. He added that while all countries obviously have the right to defend themselves, Israel should take into account that global jihad would exploit an Israeli military assault and use it to incite against the West. He said Islamic fundamentalists can be expected to portray an attack as a Jewish-Christian conspiracy against Islam. Bouchard called on whoever wins the next U.S. presidential election to look to historic groundbreaking diplomacy for examples of what could be accomplished, like Richard Nixon's 1972 visit to China and Anwar Sadat's 1977 visit to Jerusalem. The solution is not a zero-sum game, said Bouchard, but a compromise in which each side concedes something. Russia holds the key to securing international support on Iran, he said, adding that this is a chance for Russian President Vladimir Putin to act like a leader by preventing another round of a Cold War. The situation around the world, and in the Middle East in particular, needs to settle down first, Bouchard said, warning that Israel must not get itself dragged into hasty and premature actions.Read the full story here.

"All the President's Guests" - Huma sits with ISNA President at White House Iftar dinner.

"All the President's Guests" - Huma sits with ISNA President at White House Iftar dinner.(Shoebat).Yesterday, we commented on the news that President Barack Obama defended Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s closest adviser, Huma Abedin, at the White House Iftar dinner on August 10th.
What we didn’t know is that Huma was seated next to the President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), Mohamed Magid. The two seemed to be engaged in some friendly conversation and quite comfortable with one another. This is the same ISNA that was not only listed as a Muslim Brotherhood front group that seeks the overthrow of the U.S. Government from within, but also an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial. A 1991 document, penned by a Muslim Brotherhood leader identified the ISNA as a member group.
Here is the exact quote from that document that is perhaps the most alarming:
The Ikhwan (Muslim Brotherhood) must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.
The U.K. Daily Mail has the video from which the screen shot above was taken.
In light of the firestorm surrounding the issue of Huma’s background…
  1. Why would the White House have her seated next to the leader of a group that is part of the concerns raised by Reps. Bachmann, Gohmert, Franks, Westmoreland, and Rooney?
  2. Why would the president of a Muslim Brotherhood group in America be invited to the White House (responding that it’s been going on for years is no excuse)?
  3. How well does Huma know Magid?
  4. Does Huma know that Magid leads a Muslim Brotherhood group?
We have entered some extremely surreal territory.Hmmmm......Obama: "But I’m also mindful of the proverb, “A man is judged by his deeds, not his words.” So if you want to know where my heart lies, look no further than what I have done — to stand up for Israel."Read the full story here.

Mursi now more powerful than Mubarak was, raises fears of new 'Muslim Brotherhood' dictatorship.

Mursi now more powerful than Mubarak was, raises fears of new 'Muslim Brotherhood' dictatorship.(AA).Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi’s decision to remove defense minister Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, Army Chief-of-Staff Sami Annan and several other commanders from their posts has brought full civilian rule to the country but raised fears of possible abuse of power and a return to dictatorship. Mursi’s decision to also annul a constitutional amendment that gave the generals sweeping powers was another sign he was seeking to restore the president’s authorities over the powerful military. Omar Ashour, an Egyptian analyst and visiting scholar at the Brookings Doha Center, said Mursi’s decisions “will enter history as a significant shift in civil-military balance of power towards the civilian side.” “This is the first time in Egypt’s political history that an elected civilian politician overrules the decisions of the heads of the military establishment,” he said.
There have been conflicting reports on whether Mursi had discussed the decisions with Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) prior to announcing them. Ashour said the decision was “negotiated with some members of the SCAF, most notably General Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi, now defense minister and former head of military intelligence.” “The appointment of al-Sisi is a very clever choice…al-Sisi, being head of military intelligence, has enough information on the army’s internal factions. This will be of enormous use to the President.” Ashour added. However, Egyptian political analyst Hani Nesira feared the surprise moves were part of a coup that dangerously put all powers in the hands of President Mursi. “He is becoming even more powerful than Hosni Mubarak used to be,” Nesira told Al Arabiya English. “I think this is part of the Muslim Brotherhood's strategy that has targeted the media by shutting down a newspaper and a television station. Now it has annulled the constitutional amendments previously demanded by many revolutionary and nationalist powers, including member of the parliament itself,” Nesira said. Mursi’s decisions have opened doors for a new conflict between the Brotherhood movement and other political factions, or could also be later rejected as unconstitutional, he added.Hmmmm....Aren't you glad Obama helped 'remove' that evil dictator Mubarak?Read the full story here.

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood president Follows Erdogan's lead declares war on the military, sacks defense minister Tantawi and Chief-of-Staff Annan.

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood president Follows Erdogan's lead declares war on the military, sacks defense minister Tantawi and Chief-of-Staff Annan.(AA).Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi on Sunday sacked Defense Minister Field Marshall Hussein Tantawi and Army Chief-of-Staff Sami Annan and canceled the military-declared constitutional amendments that gave top generals wide powers.
The constitutional amendments , also referred to as the complementary constitutional declaration, was issued shortly before the elections by the Supreme Military Council that ruled the country during the transitional period.
The much-criticized addendum had expanded the military council’s power and gutted that of elected officials by putting military leaders in control of the right to declare a state of war, as well as the ability to appoint a new Constituent Assembly tasked with drafting a new constitution if the current one had been dismantled.
Mursi also ordered the retirement of the commanders of the navy, air defense and air force. The retired navy commander, Lt. Gen. Mohan Mameesh, was named as chairman of the Suez Canal, the strategic waterway linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean and a major source of revenues for the country.
Presidential spokesman Yasser Ali said told a news conference aired on state TV that Mursi named a career army officer, Lt. Gen. Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, to replace Tantawi and Lt. Gen. Sidki Sayed Ahmed to replace Annan.
It was not immediately clear whether the decisions had the military’s blessing. But Egyptian General Mohamed el-Assar told Reuters that the decision to sack Tantawi “was based on consultation with the field marshal and the rest of the military council,” In a reshuffle of the top brass announced on Sunday, Assar was appointed deputy defense minister.President Mursi said Tantawi and Chief of Staff Annan had been “ordered to retire” and would become advisers to the president.Hmmmm.....Israel get ready for a 're-occupation' of the Sinai by Egypt.Read the full story here.

NDAA: The Most Important Lawsuit in American History that the Obama MSM is keeping silent about.

NDAA: The Most Important Lawsuit in American History that the Obama MSM is keeping silent about.(Liberty Blitzkrieg).Despite a mainstream media blackout on the topic, the alternative media is abuzz with this week’s hearing on the constitutionality of the clearly unconstitutional NDAA. In case you don’t remember, section 1021 of the NDAA, which Obama signed into law on December 31 of last year, allows the government to lock up U.S. citizens indefinitely without a trial. At the time of signing, Obama penned a pathetic letter to many of his outraged supporters where he basically said he signed it but he won’t use it. Thanks pal!
In any event, the Administration is showing its true colors by appealing an injunction that judge Katherine Forrest issued against it in May. The injunction was in response to the lawsuit filed by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Chris Hedges and others. While the NDAA clearly vaporizes the 5th and 6th Amendments of the Constitution, I believe the real target is the 1st Amendment. By having a law on the books that allows the government to arbitrarily lock anyone up and throw away the key, the government is actually trying to instill enough fear in people that they self-censor speech and become too afraid to criticize the criminal elite political and economic oligarchy.
Tangerine Bolen is one the lead plaintiffs in the suit against the government and she penned a powerful piece for the UK’s Guardian. Here are some key quotes:
I am one of the lead plaintiffs in the civil lawsuit against the National Defense Authorization Act, which gives the president the power to hold any US citizen anywhere for as long as he wants, without charge or trial.
In a May hearing, Judge Katherine Forrest issued an injunction against it; this week, in a final hearing in New York City, US government lawyers asserted even more extreme powers – the right to disregard entirely the judge and the law. On Monday 6 August, Obama’s lawyers filed an appeal to the injunction – a profoundly important development that, as of this writing, has been scarcely reported.
Judge Forrest had ruled for a temporary injunction against an unconstitutional provision in this law, after government attorneys refused to provide assurances to the court that plaintiffs and others would not be indefinitely detained for engaging in first amendment activities. At that time, twice the government has refused to define what it means to be an “associated force”, and it claimed the right to refrain from offering any clear definition of this term, or clear boundaries of power under this law.
This past week’s hearing was even more terrifying. Government attorneys again, in this hearing, presented no evidence to support their position and brought forth no witnesses. Most incredibly, Obama’s attorneys refused to assure the court, when questioned, that the NDAA’s section 1021 – the provision that permits reporters and others who have not committed crimes to be detained without trial – has not been applied by the US government anywhere in the world after Judge Forrest’s injunction.I Would also take the time to watch this short video from one of the co-counsels on the case as to exactly what the government is arguing in court. Not a word from the mainstream media on the most important court case in American history. One that will decide the fate of a law that will effectively dismantle at least a third of The Bill of Rights.Read the full story here.

UN Calls on U.S. to Halt Biofuel Production as Drought Devastates Corn Crop, What will Obama Choose "People or Green Energy"?

UN Calls on U.S. to Halt Biofuel Production as Drought Devastates Corn Crop, What will Obama Choose "People or Green Energy"?(AllGov).By Matt Bewig. With the drought of 2012 — already the worst in the U.S. since the 1950s — expected to cause dramatically smaller corn and soybean crops, the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) has called on the U.S. to suspend the use of corn in producing biofuels like ethanol in order to avert a food crisis. So far, however, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has rejected this suggestion, arguing that ethanol production supports many jobs and reduces the price of gasoline for Americans.
Under the Renewable Fuel Standard, 13 billion gallons of biofuel must be produced in the U.S. this year as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on imported oil. As a result, about 40% of the corn crop will be used to make ethanol, 40% as animal feed, and 20% is eaten by consumers, mostly in processed foods like high-fructose corn syrup and corn flakes. Critics of the fuel standard argue that the use of corn to make ethanol is a major factor in the tripling in the price of corn since 2005 and likely contributed to a food crisis in 2007-08.
The latest forecasts from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) indicate that the 2012 corn yield per acre will be the lowest since 1995-96, and that total production will be the lowest since 2006. As a result, the USDA is predicting that farm prices for corn will average $7.50-$8.90 per bushel, up from the $5.40-$6.40 per bushel it projected just a month ago and up to 85% higher than the $4.80 per bushel projected at planting time in April. Some private forecasters have projected even lower yields per acre, which would lead to even higher prices.
For American consumers, the USDA estimated in July that food prices would climb 3%-4% in 2013, but that prediction will probably be revised upward because of the new, lower corn numbers. Even so, the overall economic effect in the U.S. will be muted because American households generally spend only about 13% of their budgets on food and because so little of what we pay at the supermarket is actually for food. For example, the corn in a $4.00 box of corn flakes is worth about 7 to 8 cents. Most of the price is for processing, transportation, advertising, and an oligopoly premium. The poor and near-poor, however, will feel the price rise at the grocery store far more acutely.
It is in the developing world, where many people spend 30%-40% of their income on food, that the impact will be greatest. Writing in the Financial Times, Jose Graziano da Silva, director general of the FAO, argued the ethanol quota should be suspended to allow more of the corn crop to be used for food production, especially in light of an FAO report that world food prices soared 6% in July, with the price of corn up 23%. In addition to the U.S. drought, severe weather has damaged agricultural production in other major grain exporting countries as well, including Brazil, Russia, Australia, and India, raising concerns of global food shortages that will increase food prices and lead to widespread hunger.
The United States is the world’s largest exporter of corn, soybeans and wheat, and likely price spikes will ripple through markets globally, with devastating consequences for those already struggling to get enough food to eat,” said Eric Munoz, a senior policy analyst with the international aid group Oxfam. U.S. livestock producers, who feed corn to their animals, also want the ethanol quota waived, and 156 House members and 25 senators have signed letters to Lisa Jackson, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, asking her to issue a waiver on the ethanol standard.Hmmmm.....Anyone really belives Obama will care about people their needs, compared to his 'green energy dream'?Read the full story here.

Barack Obama is not a "nice guy".

Barack Obama is not a "nice guy".(AT).Jack Kerwick says Barack Obama is not a "nice guy."

From Republican campaign strategist Ed Rollins and Republican House Speaker John Boehner to Republican presidential contenders John McCain and Mitt Romney, far too many Republicans have fueled the popular perception that Obama is a nice guy.

This perception is an illusion. But it is a most dangerous illusion, for it has permitted our President to advance his militantly leftist agenda.

In The Republic, Socrates engages several friends in a discussion over the nature of justice and its relationship to the good life. The question to which they attend is:

Which is more beneficial for its possessor, justice or injustice?

Glaucon, a brother of Plato, contends that the unjust man is actually better off than the just man -- so long as he is not recognized as an unjust man. Injustice is superior to justice, Glaucon reasons, because the unjust man knows no limits while the just man imposes constraints upon himself. So, for example, the just person will abide by the terms of a contract even after he realizes that he may have more to gain by violating them. The unjust man, in sharp contrast, will have no such reservations.

But if the unjust man is recognized as such, then others will not only deprive him of the opportunity to treat them unjustly; in addition to this social ostracism, he could as well face legal punishment.

To substantiate his position, Glaucon alludes to the legendary figure of Gyges.

Gyges was said to have been a poor, obscure shepherd who happens to stumble upon a magical ring, a ring that endows him with the ability to become invisible at will. With his new found power, Gyges manages to have the King murdered, seduce his wife, and assume control over the kingdom.

Glaucon's point is clear. As long as a person is thought by all to be just, his unjust character is essentially invisible. He then has both the ability and the will to pursue his wants at all costs -- including and particularly the cost of treating others unjustly.

Thus, injustice is better than justice, and the unjust person is better off than the just person -- as long as injustice goes undetected.

This debate that transpired close to 2500 years ago assumes new significance in light of the rise of Barack Obama.

Obama became nationally recognized eight years ago when he gave the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention. Immediately, something like a trans-partisan consensus emerged on the speech's inspirational character, and both Democrat and non-Democrat alike began to view Obama as a rising star, a "new" kind of politician.

Even in 2008, when Obama became a presidential contender in the Democratic primaries, few and far between were those Republicans who were disposed to assail him with just a fraction of the aggression with which they attacked Hillary Clinton. In fact, Obama was regularly being depicted by Republican commentators as the beleaguered contestant in that race, the unsuspecting and undeserving victim of the Clinton killing machine.

Then Obama became the Democrats' presidential nominee.

He became the focus of Republicans' attacks, it is true, but even so, the tendency on the part of his opponents -- including John McCain -- to qualify their criticisms with assurances that Obama was a good and talented man persisted.

When Obama became the first black American president, it seemed that the entire planet erupted in rapture.

And Republicans went right along with it, joining the celebration of this "historic" election.

Obama's election to the office of the presidency promised to redeem America of her checkered racial history. He was going to be our first "post-racial" president, a bipartisan politician who would usher in a new millennium full of "hope and change."

To this day -- after four years of a disastrous first term comprised of effort after effort to fulfill his promise to "fundamentally transform" the country -- Obama's personal likeability numbers remain reasonably high. And though it has been a couple of months since he has said as much, even the presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney had expressed on more than one occasion his admiration for Obama as a person: "He's a nice guy; he's just in over his head."

Romney is no longer referring to Obama as a nice guy. Indeed, he should not, for in doing so, he flatters no one while revealing himself to be astonishingly naïve.

Given the relentless campaign that Obama is currently waging against him, and, specifically, the latest super PAC ad that implicates Romney in the death of the wife of a steel worker, it is no longer possible (if it ever was) to sustain either the claim that Obama is a nice guy or the claim that Romney really believes that he is a nice guy.

Obama is most emphatically not a nice guy.

Some of us -- those of us who actually looked into Obama's past -- have always known this.

In Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, the lead character's love interest tells him: "It's not who we are underneath, but what we do, that defines us." Nice guys, or good guys, do not do the sorts of things that Obama has done over the course of his career.

A nice guy does not ally himself with all manner of anti-Americans, from unrepentant domestic terrorists like Bill Ayers to self-avowed "Black Liberation" theologians like Jeremiah Wright.

More tellingly, a nice guy doesn't ally himself with anti-Americans while trying to convince voters that he is actually a great American patriot, let alone someone who deserves to become the President of the United States of America.

In other words, a nice guy is not a person who is chronically deceptive.

A nice guy does not make promises -- like the promise of a "transparent" administration -- that he does not keep.

A nice guy does not seek, as Obama successfully sought to do in 1996 while running for a State Senate office in Illinois, to eliminate three of his Democratic rivals from the ballot while invalidating the legions of signatures that they accumulated in voters' petitions.

A nice guy doesn't use his position of power to bully the operators of businesses and coerce millions upon millions of people to acquiesce in "the fundamental transformation" -- the destruction, as David Limbaugh more aptly puts it -- of their homeland, their lives.

A nice guy doesn't exacerbate racial tensions by availing himself of "the race card" whenever it suits his purposes to do so.

And a nice guy most certainly does not exploit the tragedy of a person's death by baselessly accusing his competitor of being complicit in it.

Like Gyges, Obama has heretofore managed to preserve for himself the image of the just man. But unlike Gyges, that façade is cracking.

If we would only open our eyes and connect the dots, we will readily discover for ourselves that Obama is not a just man at all.Read the full story here.

Ayalon: Time to declare Iran diplomacy a failure.

Ayalon: Time to declare Iran diplomacy a failure.(JPost).Depute Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon on Sunday called on the international community to declare the diplomatic channel with Iran over its nuclear program a failure. Speaking with Israel Radio, Ayalon said the Iranians must understand that they have reached the edge of the international community's patience, and that if they continue their actions, all options will be on the table.
Ayalon specified that "all options" do not just refer to Israeli action, but also to action by NATO, the United States and other forces.
Asked how much time remains for sanctions and threats to take effect, Ayalon said "several weeks."
If the Iranian's choice is made starker, he said, they are capable of changing their policy, as they did in 2003 when they grew nervous over an American attack following the Iraq invasion. Earlier Sunday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said at the weekly cabinet meeting that the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran dwarfs all the threats emanating from Sinai. "Every threat against the home front is dwarfed by one threat. Iran cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon," Netanyahu said.
The comments come amid a flurry of commentary and speculation from current and former government officials on how Israel should deal with Iran's nuclear ambitions, many of them voicing criticism at the open discussion of a possible military strike. Playing down the imminence of such an attack, Vice Premier Silvan Shalom called for imposing stricter sanctions against Iran In a Sunday interview with Army Radio, Shalom said "At this time we can bring the US to accept the right choices, and that is to impose even stricter sanctions that are made to subdue and topple the Iranian regime and perhaps bring it to abandon its nuclear program." On Friday, White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a press briefing that a military strike could wait while the West pursues diplomatic options, in part because "we feel confident that we would be able to detect a break-out move by Iran towards the acquisition of a nuclear weapon."
Former Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Tzahi Hanegbi responded on Sunday, telling Israel Radio that there is no certainty that intelligence agencies will discover Iranian nuclear advancements in time, and that essential information may only be uncovered after the fact. Hanegbi went on to condemn the public debate on a possible military strike, saying that the flood of headlines and articles in the media are a serious betrayal by those trying to tie the government's hands. Meanwhile, Iran announced that it will host a meeting on promoting "the issue of Palestine and the Intifada" and "liberating the Holy Qods" (Jerusalem), the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported Sunday.Read the full story here.
