'Islamist Merry-Go-Round' - AKP deputy admits Turkey will hold election again if party doesn’t win
'Islamist Merry-Go-Round' - AKP deputy admits Turkey will hold election again if party doesn’t win. (BG).
Regarding Turkey’s upcoming snap election on Nov. 1st, Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Ahmet Gündoğdu suggested that if they did not win a parliamentary majority once again they’ll have to hold another election, prompting harsh reaction from the Republican People’s Party (CHP).
“Let’s hope that a single party can come to power [in the snap election] so we won’t need another election. Hopefully it will be the AK Party,” said AK Party MP Ahmet Gündoğdu on Friday during a friendly visit to the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) to mark the occasion of Eid al-Adha feast of sacrifice.
“So you’re saying if the AK Party doesn’t regain its majority there will be another election,” responded CHP Deputy Chairman Sezgin Tanrıkulu. “So never ending elections it is!”
The AK Party suffered a rout in the June 7 general election, losing its parliamentary majority for the first time since taking power in 2002 and resulting in a hung parliament. Hmmmm.......As i said: 'Democratic elections don't make dictators leave silently in to the night'.
