Boko Haram, ISIS and other terrorists lurk in the shadow of Turkey’s Islamists
Boko Haram, ISIS and other terrorists lurk in the shadow of Turkey’s Islamists. HT: Todays Zaman. By Abdullah Bozkurt.
With relentless attacks and police raids on schools affiliated with the Gülen movement, the nation's best-performing schools, Turkey's political Islamist rulers have done nothing but bolster their image for state-sponsored, Boko Haram-style, hostile and disturbing posturing against science, critical thinking and independent analysis.
The increasingly vitriolic hate speech and xenophobic remarks adopted by the Islamists attacking vulnerable groups including members of the Gülen movement, Alevis and Kurds have exposed the true colors of the Islamists.
The Boko Haram mentality is lurking in the dark shadows long-cast over Turkey by Erdoğan and his henchmen. Last year's alleged voice recording that was uploaded to YouTube exposed how the Islamists had been transporting weapons to Nigeria, where radical Boko Haram militants are clashing with the Nigerian army.
In the recording, Mehmet Karataş, the executive assistant to the chief executive officer of Turkish Airlines (THY), allegedly called Erdoğan's chief adviser Mustafa Varank to express his uneasiness over the dozens of boxes full of weapons and ammunition that were being transported by THY.
In a voice that clearly sounded concerned, Karataş says, “I don't know whether these [weapons] will kill Muslims or Christians” and asks Varank to talk to Hakan Fidan, the head of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT), as soon as possible. Given that Fidan coordinated the shipment of 2,000 trucks full of arms to radical groups in Syria, it is not surprising that he might have had a hand in arms transfers to groups in Nigeria.
Just recently, an Arab diplomat from an important Middle Eastern country was telling me in Ankara about credible intelligence reports about how Turkey is sending arms to Chad, a neighbor of Nigeria.
The Libyan government has openly condemned Turkish aid to radical groups in the war-torn country. Like a jigsaw puzzle, every piece that falls in place with new revelations in Turkey better portrays the murky and hidden picture of what the Islamists are up to.
They have no problem whatsoever in arming radical groups in Africa and the Middle East while doing everything in their power to prevent science education and critical thinking at home. Hmmm.......Erdogan Obama's BFF......'Caliph of the Muslim Brotherhood'. Read the full story here.
