Failed Russian ICBM crosses Azerbaijan, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.HT: IsraelMatzav.Around 8:45 on Thursday night, there was a glow in the skies over Israel. This UFO was not a Martian spaceship, but it probably was a Russian ICBM.Later Thursday, Russian news agency Novosti quoted the Defense Ministry in Moscow, which confirmed that a missile was test-fired from the Astrakhan region in central Russia. The trail of light seen in Israel was also reported in Armenia, Turkey, Cyprus, Lebanon, Jordan and other countries in the region.
According to a statement issued by Russia's Defense Ministry, crews belonging to the army's strategic missile division successfully test-fired a ballistic missile at 9:39 pm, Moscow time. A video shot in the area the missile was fired from showed parts of the missile falling. However, the clip was removed a few minutes after being posted.
Israeli Astronomical Association Chairman Dr. Yigal Pat-El said that it is quite possible that the unidentified flying object reported by residents nationwide was a ballistic missile test.
"It most likely spun out of control and its remnants and the fuel was what people saw. It reached a height of 200-300 kilometers and that's why it was seen from so many locations," he told Ynet.
"We saw a large trail of light traveling from a distant spot in the sky," Dorit from northern Israel reported earlier. "We could not see the source of the light. The trail was massive. It was an unusual sight. Moments later we saw swirling movement where the light was coming from."
Concerned citizens in Armenia and Lebanon also called their local police stations after seeing the unusual glowing light. One Lebanese citizen reported seeing the light in the sky and in response an American web-surfer said it might be a military test. The Lebanese woman laughingly responded with: "A military test? Here?"Read the full story here.

Take a look at the following 2011 picture, look closely who is depicted and what happened to them………Coincidence? I don’t think so!(Full scale poster here.)
An Islamic extremist group called Hizb ut-Tahrir that opposes democracy and supports violent jihad, including the killing of U.S. soldiers, is coming to Rolling Meadows, Illinois on June 17. The conference, titled “Revolution: Liberation by Revelation–Muslims Marching Toward Victory” is about how Muslims must help resurrect the Caliphate and institute Sharia-based governance.
The event is to be held at the Meadows Club at 2950 W. Golf Rd from noon to 4:00 PM EST. If you wish to express your opinion to the Meadows Club, the business can be contacted at email@example.com or called at 847-640-3200. In 2010, Hizb ut-Tahrir’s annual conference at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook hotel was canceled after the venue dropped the group’s reservation.Hizb ut-Tahrir (HUT) was founded in 1953 in East Jerusalem when it was under the control of Jordan. It was begun by a former member of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood named Sheikh Muhammad Taqiuddin al-Nabhani. He also worked with with Haj Amin al-Husseini, a cleric who is most famous for his close alliance with Hitler. HUT came to the U.S. in the early 1990s under a front called “Walnut,” or the Islamic Cultural Workshop. HUT now operates openly in the U.S.
Zeyno Baran, an expert on Islamist groups, calls HUT a “conveyor belt for terrorists.” Multiple members have been radicalized by its preaching, which gives Muslims every reason to become violent, and gone on to commit terrorism. Examples include Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
What makes the Meadows Club’s hosting of HUT especially outrageous is the fact that HUT is outwardly anti-American and jihadist. The promotional video for the conference features a clip of a protester in the Middle East declaring, “We are here to say that we want to reestablish an Islamic state with Sharia as the “only source of legislation.” This is followed by a clip of an Egyptian cleric preaching, “Oh Muslims! Rise up to aid and support the call for Khilafah [Caliphate] even if it is at the expense of your lives.”
Hizb ut-Tahrir says that it is non-violent, but the reality is more complicated. It does not engage in violent jihad as an organization but that doesn’t mean that it opposes violent jihad by its members on their own accord or by other groups. Its website explains:
“So whenever the disbelieving enemies attack an Islamic country it becomes compulsory on its Muslim citizens to repel the enemy. The Hizb ut-Tahrir in that country are part of the Muslims and it is obligatory upon them.to fight the enemy and repel them. Wherever there is a Muslim amir who declares jihad.the members of Hizb ut-Tahrir will respond in their capacity as Muslims in the country where the general call to arms was proclaimed.”
HUT’s Facebook page links to an article by “Hizb-ut-Tahrir Publications” about jihad.
It opens with Quran 9:29: “Fight those who believe neither in Allah nor the Last Day.until they pay the Jizya [a special tax for non-Muslims] with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.” Non-Islamist Muslims may have a passive interpretation of this passage’s meaning, but Hizb ut-Tahrir’s threatening interpretation is clear.
The author of the article fondly recalls the “days when the Islamic Ummah [the Muslim community] was an ummah of jihad” and how “the Jihad of the Muslims imprinted in the minds of the Europeans the notion that the army of Islam is invincible.” The power of the Muslim world has fallen because Muslims “relinquished jihad.”
The group has called for killing U.S. soldiers specifically. In January 2010, it accused the “U.S. crusaders” of massacring Afghan children and stated that it must “be answered by sharp swords of Muslim united armies under true Muslim leaders.” The invitation to an HUT conference in Denmark in January 2011 mentioned “the duty of armed resistance of the Muslims in Afghanistan and its environs. We consider this resistance as fully legitimate.” HUT has also published materials supporting jihad against U.S. and Coalition forces in Iraq.
After the bombings in London in 2005, a top HUT official was asked to condemn them. His response was that he’d “condemn what happened in London only after there is a promise from Western leaders to condemn what they have done in Falluja and other parts of Iraq and in Afghanistan.” Its Facebook page has promoted an anti-democracy lecture by Anwar al-Awlaki, the Al-Qaeda leader who was killed in a drone strike in Yemen in 2011.
The vilest rhetoric is directed at Israel and Jews as a whole. A HUT document reads, “if the plane belongs to a country at war with Muslims, like Israel, it is allowed to hijack it, for there is no sanctity for Israel or for the Jews in it.” A HUT spokesman in Denmark distributed a leaflet that instructed Muslims to “kill them all [Jews], wherever you find them” and endorsed suicide bombings against Israel as acts of “martyrdom.”
After the Turkish flotilla incident in 2010, HUT’s branch in the U.S. supported violent retaliation. “There is no solution except to mobilize armies, gathering the capable soldiers and fight the Jews.” It criticized Pakistan and Iran for not attacking Israel. “O you possessors of the missiles that you boast can blow ‘Israel’ off the map, so where are you now, O Pakistan and Iran’s rulers?” it asked.
The Pakistani branch of HUT told the country’s military must “prepare nuclear bombs and other weapons for Jihad.fight under this command to annihilate Israel.” The Bangladeshi branch said Muslims must “eradicate Israel and purify the earth of Jewish filth.”
HUT also supports violent jihad against India. In July 2011, the Pakistani HUT believes “The only way Kashmir can be liberated is through organized jihad under a state that mobilizes the armies.” Its journal from December 19995 said “Muslims need swords, not candles” in Iraq and the Palestinian territories. HUT leaders have also been videotaped endorsing jihad in Chechnya and Kashmir.
The group is openly hostile to Western secularism and democracy. It does not even pretend to believe in the system. A speaker during its last conference in the U.S. admitted that HUT would dismiss the Constitution entirely and replace it with Sharia Law. One past edition of its publication compared the Founding Fathers to “tyrant dictators.”Read the full story here.
Has skin whitening in India gone too far?(BBC).For centuries Indian women have been raised to believe that fairness is beauty, and this has given rise to a vast and ever-growing skin-whitening industry - which is now encouraging women to bleach far beyond their hands and face.A new ad catering to Indian women and their "lady parts" invites backlash over the growing popularity of skin-lightening products. A TV commercial for the skin-lightening product, Clean and Dry "Intimate Wash," promises Indian women protection, "fairness" and freshness down there. The ad depicts an unsatisfied young wife concerned that her husband is more interested in his daily paper than in her, presumably — as the ad would have you believe — because her vagina is too dark. But after a quick wash with the pH-balanced skin-lightening cleanser, the couple is frolicking on the furniture with renewed lust.So it shouldn't be surprising that the vagina-whitening phenomenon is alive and well in the U.S. too. "The desire to lighten these areas is not limited to Indian women. There's quite a bit of demand for products like this in the U.S.," says Dr. Jessica Wu, a Los Angeles dermatologist and assistant clinical professor of dermatology at USC School of Medicine. "Many of my female patients ask me about lightening their private parts."Read the full story here and here.
Moscow Gay Pride Banned For 100 Years.(RN).The Moscow City Court upheld on Thursday a district court’s decision to ban gay parades in Moscow for the next 100 years, Gayrussia.ru reported. The ban came after Moscow gay activists submitted requests on August 23, 2011, to the City Hall to hold gay rallies up until 2112. The LGBT-activists used a loophole in the law that only determines the deadline for submitting rally applications (no later than 30-45 days before the event), but does not state how far in advance events can be submitted. Moscow City Court dismissed the requests, with the district court issuing a 100-year ban on public homosexual rallies, according to Gayrussia.ru. After the city’s main court upheld the district court’s decision, Moscow gay rights activist Nikolai Alexeyev told Gayrussia.ru that he would appeal to the European Court on Human Rights in Strasbourg. Alexeyev, the leader of GayRussia, also said on Thursday in his Twitter that he had paid the first fine for propagating homosexual "propaganda." The activist is the first to be fined 5,000 rubles ($170) under a new local anti-gay law in St. Petersburg after he was detained for picketing outside St. Petersburg's legislature building in April in protest at what he described as the "homophobic" new law. The legislation, which makes it illegal to "disseminate homosexual propaganda" among minors, was signed by St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko in March, making it the fourth Russian city to adopt such a ban. Several politicians and church figures have called for the law, which sets fines of up to to 500,000 rubles ($17,000) for violations, to be passed at the federal level. Homosexuality was only decriminalized in Russia in 1993, and anti-gay sentiments remain strong in society, including Russia's political establishment. In 2007, Former Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov described attempts to hold a Gay Parade in the capital as "satanic." No Gay Parade has ever been officially permitted in Russia.Read the full story here.
WHITE HOUSE INSIDER: Barack Obama’s High Tech Snuff Films.(TUR).By Ulsterman.
WHI: …Obama loves them drones. He has made them a personal priority above all else. The question that is also the answer to so much of this then – is WHY? From there…I got the goods…I told you what their re-election plan was. How they are gonna use race, division, chaos…that’s the re-election plan. Folks are talking now…from inside the administration. And they are afraid. Sh-t ain’t right. Where they wanna take us – and it’s got people upset. Military had wind of it first…the Old Man knew…now it’s spreading. Not about the election campaign -the second term plan. There’s denials being sent back…but nobody trusts them now. And the ones who do…they are in on it themselves. Others…like me…you might see us smilin’ and noddin’…but know that’s just the public face we are putting on. We gotta do that to maintain access. Don’t let that throw you – you’re gonna see more and more of that in the coming months. That just needs to be done. We lose our access…makes it a hell of a lot tougher to plan, right? So you may see me saying one thing…I’m doing it different. You gotta trust me on that. There will come a time in all of this…it’s gonna get tough, it’s gonna get weird…you’re gonna feel used up. Betrayed. When we reach that point, and we will – I’m tellin’ you now – we will reach that point…trust is what will keep it all together. If we don’t have that…they win. And if they win – we all are gonna lose and lose hard. The country’s really in the sh-t now…and the papers runnin’ low…
UM: I need to your to expand on the Drone thing – Obama’s love of using the drones. You say you “got the goods” – your words. What do you mean?
WHI: It’s what has been brewin’ for well over a year now…it’s causing all kinds of hell between the administration…the military…infighting and concern among the staff…even Jarrett don’t have a handle on all of it. Even she is not entirely comfortable with how the president has sunk his teeth into the drones…the kill list. She’s not bothered by their use specifically…she’s more…I would guess she’s more worried over the political implications of Obama’s obsession…that eventually enough people will stand together and say ENOUGH. She can’t afford to have that happen too soon…the re-election makes them all vulnerable…the plans…the obligations to others…America can still stop them in 2012 and she understands that. So having Obama so oddly focused…not just focused…he gets excited…visually…the guy gets off on it and he ain’t even hiding that fact anymore. And some are repulsed by it. They’ve done video reviews you know…of the missions. The drones. The kills.
UM: The president you mean? He watches videos of the drone attacks?
WHI: Yeah – like it was…like it was porn. I can’t emphasize…I don’t think I’m painting a clear enough picture here for you of how this thing has people really freaking out inside the administration. It’s good on one hand because it’s got more of them willing to talk…but…the fact it’s gotten this bad…these drones…an American president who has the video sent up to his personal study so he can watch them over and over again…like I said – sh-t ain’t right. And more and more people are figuring that out – and that is what has Jarrett concerned. But even she…Obama won’t listen to her on this one. Those drones are the one thing he really feels he has control over…all the rest…he’s been told what to say and where to go…when to wake…when to sleep…but the drones. The drones are all his – and he ain’t given those up. For nobody.
UM: So Jarrett is against the use of drones?
WHI: No-no-no…I ain’t said that. Far from it. The drones are all part of this…the big big picture here…what she’s concerned over is that her boy…the president…he’s gotta get it under control…his obsession with using them like he has. The weekly meetings, the kill list…I mean c’mon now…he’s got his own personal kill list. The guy who campaigned against Bush era interrogations…Obama don’t interrogate. He picks a name off a list…some of these people have beenU.S. citizens…he picks that name off a list and orders the kill. Then he gets the video confirmation of the kill…and he watches it. Over and over and over again. (Pause) Jarrett knows she has got to tap that down. That kind of display…it’s repulsive to people. And it’s freaking them out. Jarrett don’t mind the drones…she approves of the program…she approves of what…of how they will be utilized at home. But if the president…if his reaction to using them…how he gets off on it…that endangers them having control of those drones after 2012…and beyond. It’s a politically difficult – an extremely difficult argument to win. A guy who complained loudly about water boarding – it don’t kill the poor bastard. It makes ‘em talk. Barack Obama declared that to be offensive to the ideals of America, right? But now Barack Obama…he’s judge and jury. With a pointing of a finger to names on a list…Barack Obama gets to play God. No day in court. No guarantee innocent people won’t be killed as well – and they have been killed. Children. Women. Over and over again. And this president…he has that knowledge when he watches the kill confirmations. And he watches it over and over again. These are high tech snuff films – a multi-billion dollar snuff program…and he gets off on it. You ok?
UM: This is sickening. What you’re telling me…this is disturbing on a whole other level.
WHI: (Points finger) THAT’S the reaction people are having to this – right there. And that’s the reaction Jarrett is worrying over. She’s gotta try and contain it – but the president’s obsession is becoming too much to do that. The knowledge of it – it’s getting out now. Reaching other world leaders…it ain’t good. Even if it might give us a political advantage…you want sickening? I think to myself…what I just told you…I ask myself what if we lose? What if this guy is re-elected? You call it a whole other level? Yeah – you say that…but you don’t really understand it. Those drones…their domestic use…don’t think he ain’t thought about it. A lot. You see, Obama – he don’t trust the military. Not all of them…not many of them. But he trusts those drones, now don’t he? Don’t take him having to trust some military official to order troops to carry out an order inside the United States. It’s just inputting a bit of data – and the push of a button, right? And keep the f-cking military out of that equation there. Move the program…attach it directly to the White House. Make it…make it part of Homeland Security, right? Simple as that. One appropriations bill – just one…and it’s done. …And Valerie Jarrett – she wants that. Her…the investors who are behind Obama…they are completely in favor of that.
UM: Of a domestic drone program? Why? What’s the purpose?
WHI: Same as everything else this administration has attempted to implement – control. Absolute and total f-cking control. No different than Obamacare…expansion of the EPA…all the czars…bypassing of Congressional oversight…it’s all about control. And in order to secure that control – you need chaos. That chaos gives the justification for the drones. And the Occupy bullsh-t, the race riot threats…think about that. Think about the timing of the domestic drone program…tie it in with all the manufactured chaos that’s comin’. His calls for a citizen police force that was equal to the United States military. Obama said it himself, right? Before he was elected? He said it. His wife said it.
UM: Said what?
WHI: Do you know Michelle Obama…it was in ’08…she was speaking…some campaign stop…she got up from her chair and began to say how America needed to change its traditions – how it needed to change its history. That got some of us concerned at the time. That kind of thing…in a normal campaign you would have seen the media jumping all over it. Didn’t happen this time though. And when people went back to the campaign and expressed concern about those kinds of things – how the Obama’s were repeating their desire to change everything about America…we were told to shut up. That language was supported by on high. UM: On high?
WHI: Jarrett. She wanted that language to be part of the campaign trail. That language…it sent word back to their investors that they were in fact the real deal. Now I didn’t realize this at the time…too damn busy. The campaign. But hindsight, right? Looking back, you start to piece the puzzle together…now I understand what she was doing – what Jarrett was doing. She was keeping those dollars flowing into the campaign…into the media control mechanism they had set up…letting the investors know their time had come. This candidate – this Barack Obama – he was gonna implement what they had wanted…what they had planned for – for a very long time. Five days out – Obama re-affirmed that promise. He said it, right? “Fundamentally transform the United States of America”. The Old Man said it – this is a war we are fighting here. Call it us against them – good vs evil…whatever. Call it whatever. I don’t give a sh-t what you wanna call it – just as long as we win and they lose, because if they win – it’s like Obama said himself – the fundamental transformation of America. They gonna tell us what to think. What to eat. What to drink. What to read. What to watch. And if somebody don’t like that…then you’ll be on a list now won’t you. And an order will be given. And later, sitting up in some second floor study will be that skinny ass Manchurian piece of sh-t playing it over and over again.Read the full story here.
Islamic Tunisia says no to UN calls for gay rights, “incompatible with Islam, Tunisian culture and tradition."
Islamic Tunisia says no to UN calls for gay rights, “incompatible with Islam, Tunisian culture and tradition."(BM).CAIRO: Tunisia’s Human Rights Minister Samir Dilou has rejected calls by the United Nations Human Rights Council to decriminalize same-sex acts, saying that sexual orientation is a “western concept” that is “incompatible with Islam, Tunisian culture and tradition.” It comes on the heels of months of battling in the North African country over the rights of the LGBT community, who say that since the uprising ousted the former government in January 2011, the plight of the gay community has faced numerous challenges. Hind, a young Tunisian lesbian, lamented in a statement to Bikyamasr.com that “this is what we are facing right now. Despite the positives of the revolution, the conservative backlash is hurting the overall human rights struggle in the country.” In a press conference held in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, on June 2, Dilou argued that while all Tunisians are entitled to basic protection, lesbian, gay and bisexual people are not included. He said this was because the concept of “sexual orientation is specific to the West. Tunisia has its own identity as an Arab Muslim state.” According to Dilou, who is also a justice minister and official government spokesman, Tunisian law overrides such a “stipulation” as it “clearly describes Tunisia as an Arab Muslim country,” he stated to Tunisia-Live. The rise of moderate Islamists in the country have thrown LGBT rights into the forefront, especially after the publication of the country’s first gay magazine. He also does not see the law against homosexuality as in conflict with the premise of freedom. “There is no absolute freedom. All freedoms are restricted by the law,” he said.
The anti-gay French colonial law (Article 230), adopted and maintained by the Ben Ali regime, is still in effect, despite the Tunisian revolution, penalizing same-sex acts with up to three years imprisonment. The response came after a Tunisian delegation, headed by Dilou, attended UNHCR’s May 22 to 25 session where the suggestion that homosexuality should be decriminalized was made. Dilou stated that Tunisia approved most of the 110 recommendations of the Human Rights Council for Tunisia, including judicial reform, equality for women, child and disabled rights. Some recommendations were said to need further discussion and national debate, while the only two rejected outright concerned the decriminalization of same-sex acts and religious defamation. This is the second time this year that Tunisia’s Minister of Human Rights has spoken about his opposition to gay rights. Earlier this year Dilou referred to homosexuality as a disease as opposed to a human right, which was sharply criticized by Amnesty International, Reporters without Borders and Act up Paris. He also stated the he objects to Tunisia’s first openly gay magazine, Gaydaymag, saying “freedom has its limits.” For Hind and others in the LGBT community in Tunisia, the uphill battle for acceptance and their full rights as Tunisian citizens continues, but they are unlikely to have an ally in the human rights ministry. ** Information from Gay Star News was used in this report.Read the full story here.
Belgium - Fundamentalist spokesman for "Sharia4Belgium" detained. (FlandersNews). The spokesman of the fundamentalist Muslim organisation Sharia4Belgium, Fouad Belkacem, has been detained by police. The Judicial Authorities believe that Mr Belkacem provoked last week’s riots in the Brussels municipality of Sint-Jans Molenbeek. Fouad Belkacem already has convictions for inciting violence and hatred. On Friday of last week, Sharia4Belgium called a demonstration, despite all gatherings of more than 5 people having been banned as a precautionary measure by the Mayor of Sint-Jans Molenbeek Philippe Moureaux (Francophone socialist). The illegal demonstration ended in violence. Early last month, Mr Belkacem was sentenced to two year’s imprisonment, one of which suspended, after he was found guilty of incitement to hatred against non-Muslims and the harassment of the family of the late far-right politician Marie-Rose Morel. However, as a result of overcrowding in our jails, those sentenced to less than three years are normally not actually sent to prison.Over the past few days, the question has been raised as to whether Sharia4Belgium should be outlawed. The Interior Minister Joëlle Milquet (Francophone Christian democrat) has already said she is working on a law that would ban extremist organisations.Read the full story here.
Son of Iranian Shah, Prince Reza Pahlavi: "Obama ‘chickened out’ of confronting mullahs".(JPost).THE HAGUE – He inherited his father’s upright posture, facial features and understated smile, but Persian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi is no modern version of a Persian Shah. The differences between the late Mohammed Reza Pahlavi and his son reveal themselves early on in the interview, which Reza Pahlavi gave The Jerusalem Post last week during a visit to the Netherlands. Reza Pahlavi came to persuade the International Criminal Court to charge Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, with crimes against humanity. Disappointed in US President Barack Obama’s policy on Iran (Obama “chickened out” of supporting prodemocracy forces there, Reza Pahlavi says), he is starting a new Iranian opposition movement from exile to topple the mullah regime. Whereas the late Shah, who reigned as Iran’s last monarch until his ousting in 1979, was famous for his icy stateliness, his oldest son Reza Pahlavi is chummy and outgoing. While the father unabashedly proclaimed his right to absolute power, the son will not even say whether he envisions a political role for himself, if he ever returns. “There were many elements that went wrong,” says Reza Pahlavi when speaking of his father’s legacy. He was 17 when the Pahlavi family fled Iran during the Islamic Revolution that brought the current ayatollah regime to power. “There was excess by some members of the Iranian SAVAK [secret police], there was a lot of repression, there were unnecessary acts such as torture that I never condone and in fact condemn,” says Reza Pahlavi. Yet, the Shah’s actions need to be seen in the context of the time, he says. Moscow was actively trying to take over through agitation and the ayatollahs were preparing to take power. “Things were not perfect, but most Iranians recognize now that at least we were moving forward, and Iran’s international status reflected this.” His father, a progressive, pro-Western tyrant, had become loathed by many of his subjects, as they called for democratic reform for years before the revolution. Reza Pahlavi says that he is not seeking a return to the throne: “It is up to the Iranian people to say what role I should play.” If he ever returns, it will not be thanks to the actions of any American president, Reza Pahlavi says during the interview at his hotel. He is traveling under the watchful eye of several bodyguards who stay with him at all times. Fearing assassins paid by Tehran, Reza Pahalvi’s freedom of movement is severely limited. Reza Pahlavi lives in Washington, where he enjoys some access to decision-makers. The White House, however, has “a systemic failure in understanding the lay of the land” when it comes to Iran. The current president is no exception, according to Reza Pahlavi. “Barack Obama is hell-bent on engaging the Iranian regime just to prove that he’s not George Bush. That doesn’t help the problem. That’s not what people expected in Iran,” the Iranian prince said. “The people of Iran are asking for help, and Obama cares about showing Khamenei that he can reason with him. That was Jimmy Carter’s mentality in 1979 and that’s still the mentality in 2012.”
Reza Pahlavi called on “Israeli friends to stand up in support of those trying to bring democracy to Iran.” He added: “Of course Iranians don’t hate Israel. The regime wants you to think so. Our nations share a biblical relationship since the times of Cyrus, who helped the Jewish people in their hour of need. This is our hour of need. We’re asking Israel’s help to free us from our tyrannical regime. Are you going to help us, or are you going to bomb us?” Meanwhile, Reza Pahlavi is trying to bring pressure on Iran’s leadership by presenting a 43-page dossier on alleged crimes against humanity attributable to Khamenei at the International Criminal Court. The dossier surveys political repression, persecution of gays and systemic rape and torture of dissidents since 2002 and during the 2009 uprising in Iran. In order to charge Khamenei, the United Nations Security Council would have to refer the case to the ICC. Reza Pahlavi said he would lobby for this outcome. The Iranian regime is “an ideological, racist tyranny. It’s a combination of Hitler, the Soviets and apartheid which treats minorities and even women in a fascist manner. Yet the world seems to do nothing about it. This is odd to me,” Reza Pahlavi says. Though Reza Pahlavi is adamant about the need to topple the government, he is opposed to a military strike at this point. “In the spectrum between negotiations, sanctions and attack, there is another option that is being ignored, and that is to help the Iranian people in its quest for freedom.” Israel should do more to engage the Iranian people, which, according to Reza Pahlavi, opposes the ayatollah regime. He explains that “a military strike would only delay Iran’s efforts to become a nuclear power, and we would still have the same regime in place. In order to fundamentally resolve the issue, we need to support the forces within Iran that want to topple the regime.” Those forces, he says, are not the Reformist leaders of the so-called Green Revolution, Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi. “The international community invested much effort and hope in the Reformists, but they’re pre-screened, pre-approved loyal opposition. More and more of their supporters are realizing it’s futile to promote change from within because Iran’s paramilitary mafia still occupy the top of the pyramid. Khamenei controls every apparatus of state: legislature, politics, information and military.”“In Iran, there are two names known to virtually all, even in the most remote villages. The first name is Khamenei and the second one is Reza Pahlavi.” The latter, Ellian says, “is the only opposition figure which is still able to operate in any effective manner and speak for the Iranian people. No other opposition figure is as well-known and nonpartisan.” Read the full story here.

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on Thursday. Ban, speaking at the start of a special U.N. General Assembly session on the Syrian crisis, condemned the reported massacre as “an unspeakable barbarity” and called again on Assad to immediately implement international mediator Kofi Annan’s six-point peace plan, according to Reuters. “U.N. monitors were initially denied access,” Ban told the 193-country assembly after the reported slaughter of dozens of people in the village of al-Kubeir. “They are working now to get to the scene and I just learned a few minutes ago that while trying to do so, the U.N. monitors were shot at with small arms.” Ban again strongly condemned President Bashar al-Assad’s government, saying it had “lost all legitimacy,” with its record further tarnished by the massacres in al-Houla last month and in aAl-Kubeir. “The trail of blood leads back to those responsible,” he said. “Any regime or leader that tolerates such killing of innocents has lost its fundamental humanity.” Ban called the reports coming from aAl-Kubeir “shocking and sickening,” according to AFP. “We condemn this unspeakable barbarity and renew our determination to bring those responsible to account,” he said.Meanwhile, international envoy Kofi Annan expressed his “horror and condemnation” at the new massacre in Syria and called for a “new level” of international action to halt the violence. Annan made his condemnation in his speech to the U.N. General Assembly. Annan said the time has come for the international community to examine other options to get Syrian President Assad to comply with a peace plan. “The crisis is escalating, the violence is getting worse, the abuses are continuing, the country is becoming more polarized, more radicalized and serious, immediate neighbors are increasingly worried about the effects of spillover,” he told the General Assembly in New York.Read the full story here.
Update: Syria. General Robert Mood, the head of United Nations observers, has confirmed that monitors were prevented from reaching the site of the alleged massacre at al-Qubair, "They are being stopped at Syrian army checkpoints and in some cases turned back. Some of our patrols are being stopped by civilians in the area."
PAKISTAN: Coming clean about child sexual abuse - or not, 2,303 reported cases in 2011.(IRIN).LAHORE - Sidra Bibi was a young girl living with her parents and siblings in the Pakistani city of Lahore when she suffered sexual abuse, and the trauma has lived with her over the years. “My mother, my father, my aunts and my uncles all connived to protect my paternal grandfather, who was abusing me, my sister and our female cousins since we were six or seven years old,” Sidra, now 30 and married, told IRIN. The grandfather, she added, asked the girls to masturbate him, then committed anal penetration on Sidra and her cousin. “We were asked to keep quiet as the truth would destroy the family,” said Sidra, who is certain the matter was discussed among the adults in the family, but no action taken as “my grandfather was a respected elder”. Sidra has also never told her husband what she experienced, but says she is “very protective” of her own small daughter.
Sidra is just one victim. According to media reports, sexual abuse is not uncommon in Pakistan and ranges from harassment to incest. Some traditional leaders, however, deny that sexual abuse happens. “Look, these things don’t happen here. It is all Western propaganda. Muslim women here are safe at home, and I always advise people to ensure their daughters, wives and sisters stay home - except for school, or maybe to visit a close relative. They are unsafe beyond their homes,” said Maulvi Abdul Haq, a prayer leader at a local mosque.
However, Sahil, an anti-child abuse NGO based in the capital Islamabad, says 2,303 cases of child sexual abuse were reported in the national press in 2011, including 56 cases of incest. Cover-ups Saad Ahmed Khan, programme officer (media) for Sahil, told IRIN: “Even now, this is an issue people cover up because of the social stigma and pressures involved… We are certain many, many more cases occur than are reported, sometimes because they occur in remote areas where the media cannot reach, and in other cases because people prefer not to speak out." Aliya Abbas, a head teacher at a private school in Lahore, recalled a seven-year-old pupil who complained about sexual abuse inflicted by her older brother. “Her mother insisted the child was lying, and when I told her there were signs of abuse in terms of her behaviour, she removed her from my school. I often wonder how that child has fared and if she ever spoke of her experience again,” he said.
Experts say the effect of this forced silence can be traumatic. “Sexual abuse, especially incest, can leave very deep scars - even though these may on the surface be invisible,” Ghazala Sumair, a psychiatrist, told IRIN. “I have treated traumatized adult women, who are unable to articulate what happened to them even 20-30 years after the incest they suffered. This bottling up of a deeply emotional event just makes matters worse.” “I have never spoken to anyone about what happened. Even my mother never mentions it. The events were too shameful," said Sidra. Obstacles to justice In 2011, a study by the international human rights monitoring NGO Equality Now!, found that victims of sexual violence faced “numerous obstacles in their pursuit of justice”. The study said the police, medical examiners and others were reluctant to believe stories about incest, which means even those who report cases struggle to obtain support. "Societal stigma presents obstacles at the family and community level as well as the justice system," the study noted.
"To be associated with such a crime is considered a source of shame, and families cover up the incident to protect themselves. Upon trying to seek justice rape victims are often treated in a dismissive manner, accused of lying or having somehow brought the crime upon themselves." Pakistan, according to the UN Childrens’s Fund (UNICEF), has the second largest number of out-of-school children in any country - nearly 25 million. Of these, seven million are of primary school-age and 60 percent are girls.Read the full story here.
Islamic-run Indonesian town to ban shops from selling tight clothing.(TL).Shops in Indonesia's Aceh province, where Islamic law is in force, will soon be banned from selling tight-fitting clothes, an official said Thursday. The announcement was made after religious police in the provincial capital, Banda Aceh, stopped and reprimanded more than 50 women and three men for violating the Islamic dress code, including wearing tight clothing and shorts.
Samsuddin, the head of enforcement at the agency overseeing compliance with Islamic law in Aceh, said his office would issue a circular that bans shops from selling body-hugging fashion items. "We will soon send letters to shop owners," said Samsuddin, who like many Indonesians goes by one name. "The newly elected governor very much supports the enforcement of Islamic law." Zaini Abdullah was due to be sworn in as Aceh's new governor on June 26 after winning an election in April. Sharia police in Aceh regularly carry out patrols to enforce the rule of Islamic modesty and a ban on unseemly contact between unmarried couples. Officers recorded the personal details of those behaving in an unseemly manner, lectured them, and told them they could be detained or lashed if they were caught again. Samsuddin said his officers had netted 300 women who violated the Islamic dress code in the past two months. Munway, One of the three men stopped for wearing shorts in Thursday's operation, pleaded for leniency."I'm a construction worker and I'm laying bricks," he told a woman officer who asked him to show his identity card. "I'm outside because I'm going to buy some paint."Hmmmm.......Obama: “We will hold sacred the beliefs held sacred by others.” Read the full story here.
First Lady Requires Photo ID for Her Book Signings,Voter ID Law-hating Media Fail to Note Obama Hypocrisy
First Lady Requires Photo ID for Her Book Signings,Voter ID Law-hating Media Fail to Note Obama Hypocrisy.(NB).The Obama administration has done its best to oppose states from instituting new, stricter voter ID laws, complaining that many minority voters lack photo identification. But those same folks it wants voting in November are apparently not welcome anywhere near the First Lady's book signings. Something tells me that the same media outlets comparing voter ID laws to the Jim Crow Laws, however, won't see any hint of hypocrisy here, if they even report the story at all.
As stated on the blog Obama Foodorama:
On Friday, June 8th, those wishing to attend the event must purchase a copy of the First Lady's book at the location and leave it at the store, according to the employee. At the same time, customers must also submit their social security number and show an official photo ID (driver's license, passport) to a Secret Service agent, and they will be issued a wristband to the First Lady's event on June 12.( Emphasis added) The liberal media, particularly Obama-boosting cable network MSNBC has done its best to attack voter ID laws as discriminatory at best and racist at worst.
Appearing on MSNBC's Now with Alex Wagner in March, former DNC Communications Director Karen Finney managed to connect the Trayvon Martin shooting to Voter ID laws.
In December MSNBC gave a platform to former NAACP chairman Julian Bond, who charged of voter ID laws that "They are racist in intent and aimed at vulnerable people in our population."
President Obama and Attorney General Holder have spoken actively against requiring ID to be presented at polling places.Hmmmm........."When Mr. Obama says, "Everyone plays by the same set of rules," it means they conform to his rules."Read the full story here.
Asteroid or glitch? Strange glowing rock believed to be in our solar system......heading for Earth?(DM).A user has found a ‘huge asteroid’ while scanning the virtual heavens using Googly Sky. Youtube user planetkrejci, who has investigated other anomalies on NASA pictures, claims the object – found using the Google website which transports the heavens to desktop computers and smartphones – is an asteroid which is heading towards Earth.
He says the asteroid – which, if real, has not been spotted by other scientists or astronomers – has only appeared recently on Google Sky, which receives updated images every few months. Announcing his find on YouTube, he says the black object, mottled with green spots, is so clear that it must be within the solar system. The user had been exploring the region a few months earlier, and had ‘bookmarked’ a spot just to the left of the asteroid – so he is certain the object was not there previously. One thing that planekrejci does not substantiate is his claim that the object is moving towards the Earth, as it is not apparent how this calculation could be obtained without more information than the image provides. However, if planetkrejci has found a new object, it will be quite an achievement for an earth-bound Internet user to discover a new object in our solar system before NASA or other observatories. The object is easy to find on Google Sky, by typing in the co-ordinates 5h 11m 33.74s -12 50′ 30.09″ – although conspiracy theorists might read something into the fact that the search function on Google Sky is currently down.Read and see the full story here.
This Week, Turkey Went a Long Way Toward Becoming an Islamic Republic.(PJMedia).By Barry Rubin.“My people are going to learn the principles of democracy the dictates of truth and the teachings of science. Superstition must go. Let them worship as they will, every man can follow his own conscience provided it does not interfere with sane reason or bid him act against the liberty of his fellow men.” ― Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
Hardly surprising; deeply upsetting; and geo-strategically catastrophic, it’s official. Turkey has now passed over toward being an Islamist state. That turning point is marked by a tiny event of gigantic importance. Fazil Say is an internationally acclaimed Turkish classical pianist. He has performed with prestigious symphony orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, Berlin, Israel Philharmonic, France, and Tokyo as well as being a European Union cultural ambassador. The Turkish state is now going to put him on trial.
An Istanbul court has accepted the prosecutor’s charge, which amounts to heresy. Specifically, he is accused of insulting Islam because of tweets he sent. Say suggested that since the Koran says there are rivers of drinks in heaven that makes it sound like a pub, while the beautiful women available there make it sound like a brothel. A number of his tweets are quoted here.
That’s his crime, writing a couple of sentences to describe his thoughts. We are not talking of someone criticizing Say or disagreeing with him. We are talking about the power of the Turkish state being used to charge a man with a crime and send him to prison for exercising free speech. True, they are only asking for a sentence of eighteen months in prison but once the precedent is set their ambitions will expand.
There are already hundreds of political prisoners in Turkey today who have been in prison for over three years without any trial at all. Now if criticizing Islam in Turkey is a crime, Turkey is not a secular state. And with all of those innocent people already thrown in jail by the regime on trumped-up charges of treason and terrorism, Turkey is no longer a democratic state either. (For a study of the conspiracy charges, actually a wave of repression and intimidation seeking to quell opposition to Turkey’s fundamental transformation, see this detailed article by Gareth Jenkins. in MERIA Journal.)
This is the country that the Obama Administration views as a role model for other Muslim-majority countries. In fact, though, Turkey is going down the same road of repression. But unlike those Arab countries, Turkey has been a secular republic for decades. It’s “progress” toward Islamization could not have been more obvious for the last few years but the Western mass media generally ignores the evidence. The only thing that would save Turkey is if the current regime gets voted out of office before things go beyond a point of no return, and such an electoral defeat is not on the horizon.
I’d address this issue in my regular column in a Turkish newspaper but I can’t since that was cancelled within a few minutes of my sending in an article (not published) that criticized the government. I’d have a correspondent in Turkey write about this for you but my Turkish friends–even ones who have historically been courageous–are now all too afraid to do so. I could possibly publish something about it in the journal I edit, Turkish Studies, but only because a Turkish government-inspired effort to get me removed as editor failed miserably.
Meanwhile, the court system in Turkey is—as you can see, above—being undermined. Tens of thousands of graduates of Islamic madrasas are now recognized as holding the equivalent of a college degree so they can be put into high civil service posts from which they will administer the state with as much Shariah as they dare implement this week.
For a decade now the Justice and Development Party has been in power, marching toward Islamism with far greater patience than the Muslim Brotherhood could ever muster. It has now crossed the point of no return. I could provide scores of other examples. Here’s one: a liberal Turk who was extolling the ruling party not long ago explained that his family’s babysitter wears “Islamic” garb even though she isn’t a believer. Why? Because if she didn’t wear those clothes in her Istanbul neighborhood when she’s walking to work at his house, she’d be beaten up.
Ponder on what Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish republic, warned: “Those who use religion for their own benefit are detestable. We are against such a situation and will not allow it. Those who use religion in such a manner have fooled our people; it is against just such people that we have fought and will continue to fight.” But now in Turkey that fight is a distinctly uphill one.Hmmm.....If NATO believes that their 'rocket shield' in Turkey will protect them from Iran, then they can just as well believe in unicorns.Read the full story here.

Russia prepares army units for war in Syria.(Stratrisks)Via : Newsland.ru.(GoogleTranslate).Russian Defense Ministry launched an intensive training units for operations abroad, including in Syria. Pskov Airborne Division – one of the most combat-ready connections in the Russian army, the newspaper notes. Its officers, NCOs and men participated in the peacekeeping operation in Kosovo in 1999-2001, in both Chechen wars in 1994-1996 and 1999-2007, and in the war with Georgia in August 2008. In 2004, the first division in the Russian army was fully contracted. As for the Chechen soldier, then in 2006-2007 they were initiated by then-Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov has successfully carried out peacekeeping missions in Lebanon, reminiscent of “NG”.They distinguished themselves in combat operations against Georgia in South Ossetia in August 2008. In addition, preparation for possible action in the Syrian special forces have already passed from the separate brigade of marines Black Sea Fleet. They were present at the patrol ship “Smetliviy”, which in May, before returning from almost two months of the watch in the Mediterranean Sea, visited the Syrian port of Tartus, where the point of logistics of the Russian Navy.
“Smetliviy” returned to Sevastopol on May 31, as reported Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.At the same time Head of Information Management BSF captain Vyacheslav Trukhachev agency said that security is “Sharpness” with the passage of the Straits, and docked in the Syrian port provided a group of anti-terror – a separate brigade of marines BSF. In March, nearly burst into an international scandal, when the Syrian opposition in the Arab media spread rumors that the tanker are special forces and attack aircraft the Marine Corps.Europe, even Russia has warned against landing in Syria of its military. In rebuttal made by the press service of the Ministry of Defense, Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. They explained that “Iman” performs only the task of logistics and staffed by civilian personnel on board is only a guard unit. But Lavrov added that such “fairy tale” The Syrian opposition – is a clear provocation aimed at disrupting peace in the country to plan a special envoy of UN / LAS General Kofi Annan. “Kosovo precedent” and “brilliant initiative” Trust Dmitry Medvedev The representatives of the Russian leadership assured that no troops to send to Syria is not planned. But amid the worsening situation around the country began to fear the Russian press that Russia and the West will be on the verge of armed conflict – as was the case in Kosovo. themselves diplomats, who are still afraid, “the Libyan scenario” in Syria is increasingly remembered the “Kosovo precedent” 1999, when NATO began bombing Yugoslavia without UN authorization. This provoked an acute crisis between Russia and the West, which nearly resulted in a direct conflict, when Russian paratroopers occupied the Pristina airport. Now, after 13 years in the West once again talked about the possibility of military operation, bypassing the United Nations, where Russia and China have veto power As permanent members of the Security Council, will block any resolution with this scenario. to the participation of Russian troops outside the country, including in Syria, in addition to the UN resolution, you need a political solution to the Russian leadership. Last week, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Bordyuzha said that part of the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces in dealing with the Syrian conflict, “it is theoretically possible.” However, he stressed that the military in Syria will fall into this hell, because they are fighting with heavy weapons and any interference with the goals of peacekeeping would mean keeping active hostilities. “In Syria, apparently, you need to carry out an operation to enforce peace, first of all militias – said Bordyuzha. – That is, those who are trying to solve political problems by force of arms, not in the constitution of the state.” Therefore, he concluded that the initiative to send CSTO forces in Syria – “bright only for politicians.”
Hm......This story might look 'strange' to put it mildly but last week Debka had the following story:
debkafile reported exclusively on May 31, that President Barack Obama had proposed to President Vladimir Putin the creation of a large force of 5,000 international monitors for Syria, most of them Russians, to safeguard Assad’s stock of biological and chemical weapons against falling into the hands of al Qaeda or Syrian rebels. This team consisting of thousands of Russian troops would be the operational arm of the future “contact group.”
As far as Israel is concerned, the plan has disastrous connotations. Instead of containing the spread of hostile Iranian influence in the region, as Obama promised Israel, he is opening for the door for Iran to extend its nfluence squarely in the countries neighboring on – and still at war with – Israel, while at the same time moving back from a focused effort to draw the sting of Iran’s nuclear bomb program.
Israel’s political and security tacticians never took into account that a consequence of the Syrian revolt would be the establishment of full-blown Iranian sway over Damascus in partnership with Russia. Indeed, for 15 months, they insisted that the Syrian uprising was proof of America’s success in breaking up the dangerous Tehran-Damascus-Hizballah axis.Hmmmm......"Where there's smoke......there's fire".Read the full story here.
"CHANGE" - Debt Per American Set to Triple in a Generation to $147,000.(WS).A new chart produced by the Republican staff of the Senate Budget Committee shows that, according to Congressional Budget Office data released yesterday, debt per American is "on track to triple in a generation".Currently, as the chart shows, debt per American is at (or around) $50,000. Just four years ago, in 2008, the year President Obama was first elected, debt per person was at $35,000. In 2037, if things stay relatively the same, debt per American will be at $147,000. In that year, according to Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee, "the federal government will spend $2.7 trillion per year in interest payments alone, representing more than a quarter of our entire budget that year and greater than the total federal budget in 2003."
Per American family, on average, debt will stand at $382,000 in 2037, only 25 years from now. That figure constitutes an increase of $287,000 per family.
The CBO's numbers were released yesterday as part of its "long-term outlook." The non-partisan governmental organization warns, "waiting to address the long-term budgetary imbalance and allowing debt to mount in the meantime would be detrimental to future generations." The chart will be released later today by the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee, which is run by Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama.Read the full story here.
Video - London-Based Shiite Cleric Yasser Al-Habib in Anti-Sunni Rhetoric: The Caliph Omar Had an Anal Disease that Made Him Addicted to Homosexuality.
Video Transcript - London-Based Shiite Cleric Yasser Al-Habib in Anti-Sunni Rhetoric: The Caliph Omar Had an Anal Disease that Made Him Addicted to Homosexuality.(Memri).
Following are excerpts from an address by London-based Kuwaiti Shiite cleric Yasser Habib, which aired on Fadak TV on May 24, 2012. Fadak TV is dominated by Sheik Habib, who fled Kuwait in 2004 following a one-year prison term for cursing the Caliphs Omar and Abu Bakr and Prophet Muhammad’s wife Aisha. He was then sentenced in absentia for 10 years in prison. In September 2010, Kuwait revoked his citizenship.
Yasser Habib: Anyone who consents to being called “Emir of the Believers” is a passive homosexual. Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, for example, who willingly assumed this title, was, without a doubt, a passive homosexual. The same goes for the caliphs Othman Ibn Affan, Muawiyya, Yazid, and the rulers and sultans of the Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties, as well as some of the rulers and sultans of our day and age. For example, the king of Morocco bears this title, and he is referred to as “the Emir of the Believers” by the [Moroccan] media. This is how you know that he is a passive homosexual.
This is in addition to the evidence revealed by Western media, which showed that the current king of Morocco is indeed a passive homosexual who belongs to the homosexual community. This was leaked from his palace by his assistants, his servants, and his “boys,” whom he would penetrate and who would penetrate him. They fled to Europe, sought asylum, and exposed all this.
Another such example is the person who ruled Afghanistan for a short time – the so-called Mullah Omar.
It is told [in the hadith] that Omar Ibn Al-Khattab had an anal disease, which could be cured only by semen. One should know that this is a well-known medical condition, which is also mentioned in sacred texts. Someone who, God forbid, has been penetrated in the anus – a worm grows within him, due to the semen discharged in him... A disease develops in his anus, and as a result, he cannot calm down, unless... That’s right, it becomes like an addiction, and he cannot calm down unless he is penetrated again and again.
The Shiites are undoubtedly protected from this disease, and from committing this abominable and hideous act.
As for the Nasibis [who hate the Prophet Muhammad’s family], they are definitely afflicted with this homosexuality.
One of the devils is present at the birth of every human being. If Allah knows that the newborn is one of our Shiites, He fends off that devil, who cannot harm the newborn. But if the newborn is not one of our Shiites, the devil inserts his index finger into the anus of the newborn, who thus becomes a passive homosexual. If the newborn is not a Shiite, the devil inserts his index finger into this newborn’s anus, and when he grows up, he becomes a passive homosexual. If the newborn is a female, the devil inserts his index finger into her vagina, and she becomes a whore.
At that moment, the newborn cries loudly, as he comes out of his mother’s womb. Note that some children cry normally at birth, while others cry loudly and incessantly. You should know that this is the work of that devil, according to this narration.Source : Memri.
City of Toronto's Equity, Diversity and Human Rights, Diversity Manager doesn't think immigrants owe loyalty to Canada.
City of Toronto's Equity, Diversity and Human Rights, Diversity Manager doesn't think immigrants owe loyalty to Canada.(EoaCP).Toronto City Council will vote today in what is anticipated to be a contentious debate over whether the anti-Israel hate group Queers Against Israeli Apartheid's (al-Quaia) participation in the Pride festival should preclude the involvement of tax funding. Those who support the fanatical anti-Semitic group that wants to deny national self-determination for Jews have disingenuously framed the issue as one of free speech, when in fact it is one of allocation of public funding. Last year, City Council instructed the City Manager to revise the Anti-Discrimination Policy, since the one that was utilized and on its basis al-Quaia was not considered to violate, was unsatisfactory to a majority of Councilors.
One of the major contributors to the City's Anti-Discrimination Policy is the Office of Equity, Diversity and Human Rights, which is headed by a person named Uzma Shakir. As well as being an advocate of the application of Sharia Law in family courts, Ms Shakir has expressed anti-Israel views in her blog for the neo-Marxist website rabble.ca.
On rabble, which is the media sponsor of "Israeli Apartheid Week" and the Sea Hitler "Canada Gaza Boat," Shakir wrote: “when we adopt a partisan policy stance towards conflicts that are unresolved like Palestine and Israel when both Arabs/Muslims and Jews are Canadian citizens and deserve our 'equal' consideration, it is hard to be grateful or indeed hopeful. No! Immigrants do not owe their loyalty to Canada unquestioningly -- Canada needs to earn that loyalty..."
The obvious question is whether someone who has expressed such views should be involved in forming policy related to anti-Israel, anti-Semitic discrimination. A larger question is how it makes the City of Toronto look to have a senior position held by an individual who thinks immigrants' loyalty to Canada is something that should be qualified to particular, subjective circumstances.Read the full story here.

Iran: World powers' delay clouds next nuclear talks.(JPost).DUBAI - Iran said on Wednesday a delay by world powers in agreeing to preparatory talks has thrown doubt on the next round of negotiations over the Islamic Republic's disputed nuclear program, the state news agency IRNA reported. Iran's ISNA news agency said on Tuesday Tehran had written twice to Britain, France, Russia, China, the United States and Germany - otherwise known as the P5+1 - seeking preparatory meetings before talks in Moscow, but had yet to hear back. "The other side's delaya in meeting deputies and experts throws doubt and ambiguity on their readiness for successful talks," said Iran's chief negotiator Saeed Jalili in a letter to EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, according to IRNA.
A spokeswoman for Ashton said she would contact Jalili before the planned Moscow negotiations but saw no need for further preparatory meetings. "We have made it very clear that preparatory work is ongoing and political issues need to be dealt with on political level. That's why the high representative will reach out to Jalili and this will happen before the next round in Moscow," Ashton's spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic said. "We are not against technical meetings in principle but timing is not really right for that," she said. It is unclear what Iran aims to gain from the proposed preparatory talks. Western diplomats have often accused Tehran of seeking to buy time for its nuclear activities by trying to engage in talks about process rather than substance, without real intention of making any concrete concessions. Western nations suspect that the Islamic Republic's higher-grade uranium enrichment is part of a clandestine program to develop the material and components needed for a capacity to produce nuclear arms. Iran denies this. Negotiations are due to resume in Moscow on June 18, almost a month after the last round in Baghdad. On Tuesday, an adviser to Iran's supreme leader was quoted as saying the talks could have a positive outcome if world powers recognized Iran's "nuclear rights".Hmmm........Report: Iran has a third nuclear plant and it's second one has no civilian use.Read the full story here.
Kuwait ruler rejects death penalty for Blasphemy.(AO).KUWAIT CITY - Kuwait's emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has refused to sign a bill passed by parliament stipulating the death penalty for major religious offences, sources in the assembly said Wednesday. The oil-rich Gulf state's government has sent the bill back to parliament on Wednesday, sources said, indicating that it had been rejected by the emir. The emir has the power to refuse bills passed by the elected parliament, but the assembly can override the rejection by passing the bill again with a two-thirds majority of the house membership of 49 MPs and 16 cabinet ministers. The bill, passed by parliament last month, stipulates that Muslims who curse God, the Muslim holy book Koran, all prophets and the wives of Islam's Prophet Mohammed will be punished by death or life in jail.
The bill introduced two new articles to the Gulf state's penal code specifically to stiffen penalties for such offences. Non-Muslims who commit the same offence face a jail term of not less than 10 years, according to the bill. Defendants who repent in court will be spared the death penalty, but will get a jail sentence for five years and a fine of $36,000 or one of them, while repentance by those who repeat the crime is not acceptable, the bill says. The move to harden penalties for religious crimes came after authorities in March arrested Shiite tweeter Hamad al-Naqi for allegedly cursing the Prophet Mohammed, his wife Aisha and some companions. Naqi was on Monday sentenced by the lower court to 10 years in jail, according to his lawyer Khaled al-Shatti who said he will challenge the term in the appeals court. Kuwaiti courts have in the past several months jailed activists from both sects over religious offences. Sectarian tensions have flared in Kuwait between the Sunni majority and Shiites, who form about a third of the native population of 1.17 million, reflecting rising regional tensions between the two Islamic sects. Offences including drug trafficking and murder earn the death penalty in Kuwait. However, the last execution was implemented in the Gulf country in May 2007.Read the full story here.
