Obama’s Cinco de Mayo wish: "Once i'm 'More Flexible' Signing the DREAM Act".
(Yahoo).President Barack Obama hosted a Cinco de Mayo party at the White House -- "even though it's only tres de mayo, we just like to get the fiesta started early around here" -- and promised to push for a comprehensive overhaul of America's immigration policies if he's reelected. "There's still plenty of unfinished business, including fixing our broken immigration system," he said. "It's long past the time that we unleash the promise of all our young people and make the DREAM Act a reality." Mitt Romney has vowed to veto the legislation, which would allow some undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children to stay on American soil legally, provided they have a clean record and graduate from high school or serve in the military. Republican Senator Marco Rubio has also pushed a version of the measure that would provide temporary, non-immigrant visas. "No is not an option, I want to sign the DREAM Act into law!" Obama said. "I've got the pens all ready, I'm willing to work with anybody who's serious to get this done, and to achieve bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform that solves this challenge once and for all." A lot of you remember: Over a year ago, we brought the DREAM Act to a vote in Congress thanks to the hard work of many of you, and it passed the House, [got] the majority of votes in the Senate," Obama said. "Unfortunately, we had some on the other side of the aisle that got together and blocked it, but we didn't come this far just to let partisan politics stand in our way. So we're going to keep fighting for this common sense reform. Ultimately, America depends on it.""These are victories for Latinos but they're more importantly victories for America," Obama said.Hmmmm........Obama Blames “Founding Fathers” For Making It Difficult For Him To “Bring Change” But..."I will keep plotting".Read the full story here.
Canada - Nova Scotia - Grade 12 student suspended for wearing T-shirt that says 'Life is wasted without Jesus'.
Canada - Nova Scotia - Grade 12 student suspended for wearing T-shirt that says 'Life is wasted without Jesus'.(Yahoo).A Grade 12 student in Nova Scotia has been suspended for wearing a T-shirt publicizing his religious beliefs. The South Shore Regional School Board suspended William Swinimer from Forest Heights Community School in Chester Basin for five days for wearing a shirt emblazoned with the words, "Life is wasted without Jesus." School board Supt. Nancy Pynch-Worthylake said the wording on the shirt is problematic because it is directed at the beliefs of others. "If I have an expression that says 'My life is enhanced with Jesus,' then there's no issue with that, everybody is able to quickly understand that that's my opinion about my own belief," she said. "If the shirt were to say 'Without Jesus, your life is a complete waste,' then that's clear that it is an opinion aimed at somebody else's belief." Pynch-Worthylake said the school has spoken with Swinimer a number of times about the shirt, asking him not to wear it again. Swinimer was unavailable for comment. Varrick Day, the pastor at Swinimer's Pentecostal church, said the young man feels that his religious freedom is being restricted at the school. "His reaction is that he is being bullied by the school itself, not the students, when it comes to his freedom of speech within the school and his freedom of sharing his faith," Day said from Bridgewater, where he preaches at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church. Day said Swinimer was told that at least one student at the school complained about the shirt. Pynch-Worthylake said the school tried mediation with Swinimer before suspending him. A spokesman for provincial Education Minister Ramona Jennex said the minister believes the issue should be handled by the school board.Hmmmm......."The War on Christianity".Read the full story here.
Muslim US ICE Intelligence Officer caught up in a $600G fraud and money laundering and...... possible Hezbollah link.
Muslim US ICE Intelligence Officer caught up in a $600G fraud and money laundering and...... possible Hezbollah link.(CJR).Shariah Finance Watch: This news story proves the adage that truth is indeed stranger than fiction.
It seems that a US Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement intelligence officer has been embroiled in serious financial impropriety.
But wait, that isn’t even HALF the story. It gets much worse.
This intelligence officer is a former colonel in the Jordanian Air Force named Ahmed Abdallat. Abdallat started working for the US federal government way back in 1995 and has had access to all sorts of sensitive and classified documents and programs during his tenure. He has also been posted around the world, especially in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia. Most recently, Abdallat has been assigned to an intelligence post right on the US-Mexican border in El Paso, Texas, an area that has been given increasing scrutiny due to persistent reports of Hezbollah activity.
Abdallat is caught up in a fraud and money laundering scandal involving a Department of Homeland Security ICE official named James Woosley, who scammed the taxpayer systematically over a three-year period.
Law enforcement officials stealing is bad enough, but in our view, Abdallat’s involvement is the potentially much bigger story here. You see, we know that Woosely was using his ill-gotten gain to buy a new boat and a second home.
Not Abdallat.
Abdallat wired $570,000 to bank accounts in the Middle East. Maybe Abdallat was just sending his money overseas for himself. But maybe he was sending money overseas for an entirely different purpose…One thing we do know: Abdallat didn’t make anywhere near enough money off of his US government salary to explain over a half million dollars in wire transfers.
To make matters worse, when the FBI raided Abdallat’s home, they found two Jordanian passports, which he wasn’t supposed to have and they found evidence of several Middle Eastern bank accounts that Abdallat denied having…
There certainly seems to be more to this than just a bureaucrat who got greedy…All the focus of the media on this investigation seems to be on Woosley. We think more scrutiny should focus on Ahmed Abdallat.Read the full story here.

From the start, Williams proudly displayed his child-like excitement over his special access: “television cameras are inside the Situation Room for the very first time,” he gushed.
As one person pointed out this is not the first time cameras have been permitted into the Situation Room. I remember a program, which I believe aired on the History Channel, in which cameras went into the Situation Room. I specifically recall someone demonstrating how glass could be fogged up in order to give people meeting in a side room some privacy. And people working at computer stations were shown. I think the program may have been filmed during the Bush Administrtion; in any event the person giving the tour of the Situatio Room was from the Bush Administration. You can watch the previous visit to the Situation room here.
Google Street View exposes secret Israeli base
Google Street View exposes secret Israeli base.(YNet).Classified details about a secret base in the Tel Aviv area have been exposed by Google Street View, the panoramic map service launched in Israel's three largest cities in April. The new service allows users to see soldiers and vehicles inside the base, aggravating concerns that Google Street View could comprise Israel's national security and provide the Jewish state's enemies with easy access to useful information. The service was reportedly launched in coordination with Israel's security authorities, which asked Google to erase images from Tel Aviv's Kaplan Street, home to the Defense Ministry and IDF headquarters. As a result, users of the service cannot view the street at this time. However, other secret facilities are apparently fully accessible online.Journalist and new media consultant Yossi Dorfman revealed in his blog that a secret Tel Aviv-area base has been fully exposed by Google's new service. The images allow users to see the guard post at the entrance to the base, several soldiers inside it, and vehicles parked in the base with their license plates clearly visible.A veteran officer who saw the images said their availability on the Internet constitutes security damage for Israel. "This is a first-rate screw up…much can be learned from these images, and someone in the IDF whose job it is to monitor this issue screwed up here," the officer said. Responding to the report, Google said that its Street View service is offered in coordination with Israel's defense authorities and is approved by them. Faces and license plates captured by Google have been blurred using unique technology, the company said.Read the full story here.

Obama Praises Nazi Supporter in Jewish Heritage Month Proclamation
Obama Praises Nazi supporter in Jewish Heritage Month Proclamation.(Breitbart).President Barack Obama issued a proclamation yesterday in celebration of Jewish Heritage Month that lauded Nazi supporter Gertrude Stein, the Algemeiner reports.
Stein, who was Jewish, supported the puppet Vichy regime in France in the Second World War through her friend, historian and Nazi collaborator Bernard Fay. The Metropolitan Museum of Art recently agreed to update an exhibition of Stein's work with a reference to her Nazi connections.
The White House claimed that the inclusion of Stein had been a mistake, the result of an earlier draft of the proclamation released in error. However, Algemeiner preserved a screen shot of the original proclamation, which remained on the White House website after the new press release had been drafted.
Writing in Algemeiner on May 1, addressing the museum controversy, Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz summarized Stein's efforts for the Nazis:
Stein, a “racial” Jew according to Nazi ideology, managed to survive the Holocaust, while the vast majority of her co-religionists were deported and slaughtered. The exhibit says “remarkably, the two women [Stein and her companion Alice Toklas] survived the war with their possessions intact.” It adds that “Bernard Fay, a close friend…and influential Vichy collaborator is thought to have protected them.” That is an incomplete and distorted account of what actually happened. Stein and Toklas survived the Holocaust for one simple reason: Gertrude Stein was herself a major collaborator with the Vichy regime and a supporter of its pro-Nazi leadership. No apology from the White House has yet been reported.Read the full story here.
According to a new book entitled Unlikely Collaboration: Gertrude Stein, Bernard Fay and the Vichy Dilemma, by Barbara Will, Stein publicly proclaimed her admiration for Hitler during the 1930s, proposing him for a Nobel Peace Prize. In the worst days of the Vichy regime, she volunteered to write an introduction to the speeches of General Phillipe Petain, the Nazi puppet leader who deported thousands of Jews, but who she regarded as a great French hero. She wanted his speeches translated into English, with her introduction, so that Americans would see the virtues of the Vichy regime. In that respect she was like other modernist writers, such as Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot who proudly proclaimed their pro-Fascist ideology, but Stein’s support for Fascism was more bizarre because she was Jewish.
Stein’s closest friend, and a man who greatly influenced her turn toward fascism was Bernard Fay, who the Vichy government put in charge of hunting down Masons, Jews and other perceived enemies of the State. Fay was more than a mere collaborator as suggested by the Met exhibit. He was a full blown Nazi operative, responsible for the deaths of many people. After the war, when the horrendous results were known to all, Gertrude wrote in support of Fay when he was placed on trial for his Nazi war crimes.
Afghanistan: Obama lied - Permanent Occupation Planned.
Afghanistan: Obama lied - Permanent Occupation Planned.(AP).By Stephen Lendman.Replicating post-WW II occupations is planned. Sixty-seven years after war's end, US troops still occupy Germany, Japan and Korea. They're part of America's growing empire of bases.
Status of forces (SOFA) agreements establish the framework under which US forces operate abroad. The Department of Defense Technical Information Center calls them agreements "that defines the legal position of a 'visiting' military force deployed in the territory of a friendly state."
They delineate "the status of visiting military forces (and) may be bilateral or multilateral. Provisions pertaining to the status of visiting forces may be set forth in a separate agreement, or they may form a part of a more comprehensive agreement."
These provisions describe how the authorities of a visiting force may control members of that force and the amenability of the force or its member to the local law or to the authority of local officials . . . To the extent that agreements delineate matters affecting the relations between a military force and civilian authorities and population, they may be considered as civil affairs agreements.Occupied countries get little choice. Pentagon officials draft provisions. They're largely one way. They're a modern day version of 19th-century China's "extraterritoriality" agreements. They granted foreigners charged with crimes the "right" to be tried by his (or her) own government under his (or her) own national law.
Most SOFAs prevent local courts from exercising legal jurisdiction over American personnel. Even those committing murder and rape are exempt unless US officials yield to local authorities. Usually, offenders are whisked out of countries before they ask.
America's total number of SOFAs is unknown. Most are secret. Some are too embarrassing to reveal. America has hundreds of known, shared, and secret bases in over 150 countries.
Johnson said they "usurp, distort, or subvert whatever institutions of democratic (or other form of) government may exist with the host society."
Their presence assures trouble. It includes murder, rape, theft, drunken driving, and other crimes. Locals also face unacceptable noise, pollution, environmental destruction, appropriated public land, and US personnel mindless of local laws, customs, and rights of ordinary people.
Locals lose control of their lives. They have no say. They have virtually no chance for redress. They're most harmed when occupations are permanent.
Besides elsewhere, America came to Iraq and Afghanistan to stay. Permanency is planned on city-sized super bases. They're not build to be abandoned. They have extensive infrastructure, command and control centers, accommodations for families in combat-free areas, hospitals, schools, recreational facilities, and virtually everything found back home.
In early 2011, Afghan puppet leader Karzai confirmed Washington's plan to stay, despite agreeing on a "transition strategy" to transfer control to Afghan forces by 2014.
US troop withdrawals are planned. Iraq numbers were reduced. Thousands will remain in both countries. Locals have no sovereignty. America stays in control. Drone and ground force killing will continue.
Tens of thousands of private military contractors supplement military forces. Their skills range from technical to hired guns like Blackwater (now called Academi) and DynCorp.
Last year, Obama said US troop drawdowns will exit thousands. Afghan forces will replace them. America's mission will shift from "combat to support. By 2014, this process of transition will be complete...."
False! US permanency is planned. November elections drive Obama's duplicity to say one thing and plan another. During an unannounced Kabul visit, he addressed a US television audience from Bagram Air Base.
He did what he does best. He lied, saying he came to Kabul to herald a new era in US/Afghanistan relations. He called it "future in which war ends, and a new chapter begins."
Unless America's occupation ends, war will continue for years. Election year politics explains his claim about US forces out by 2014. He lied saying:
My fellow Americans, we've traveled through more than a decade under the dark cloud of war. Yet here, in the pre-dawn darkness of Afghanistan, we can see the light of new day on the horizon.
One year ago, from a base here in Afghanistan, our troops launched the operation that killed Osama bin Laden. The goal I set — to defeat Al Qaeda, and deny it a chance to rebuild — is now within our reach.Explosions rocked Kabul shortly after Obama's brief visit. Taliban forces claimed responsibility. Reports said at least seven died. Others were injured. Resistance fighters showed disdain for Obama's "enduring partnership."He came at night. He and Karzai met after midnight. A signing ceremony followed. It excluded "a new chapter" marked by "mutual respect."
US media media ignored what foreign ones reported. Among others, London's Telegraph headlined "US troops may stay in Afghanistan until 2024," saying:
Obama's strategic pact provides for US trainers, "special forces and air power to remain." Handing over control to Afghan ones conceals permanent occupation plans.
Karzai's top security advisor, Rangin Dadfar Spanta, said America's long-term presence is needed. "In the Afghan proposal, we are talking about 10 years from 2014, but this is under discussion."
Russia's Kabul ambassador, Andrey Avetisyan, said:
America came to stay. Afghans want them out. A recipe for protracted conflict persists. Another decade of war may follow. In 2001, who thought one was possible. It's America's longest war. An unnamed European diplomat said: Never in history has any superpower spent so much money, sent so many troops to a country, and had so little influence over what its president says and does. Pakistan has reason to be concerned. It was dragged into a war it didn't want. It's own territory is violated. US drones fly regular kill missions. Public anger grows. On April 12, its parliament unanimously approved conditions for future US/Pakistan relations. They include ending drone attacks and apologizing for killing 24 Pakistan troops last November. Washington offers neither. Stalemate and tense relations remain. America's war shows no signs of ending. All it achieved is more war. Conflict won't end until America's gone. Washington won't leave. Karzai serves dutifully as puppet leader. Afghans hate him. Ethnic leaders and Taliban fighters want him ousted. He wouldn't last 10 minutes if unprotected.A May 1 The New York Times editorial headlined "Missed Chance," saying:
Obama's Afghanistan speech "squandered the chance to fully explain his exit strategy from a war Americans are desperate to see brought to an end."
Fact check
Hyperbole substituted for truth and full disclosure. Obama didn't disclose an end game because he has none. America came to stay. Foreign media report what The Times ignored.
Most Americans want war in Afghanistan ended. Complacency and indifference describe them, not desperation.
"Obama repeated his commitment that American combat troops would be withdrawn by the end of 2014 and that Afghan troops would be ready" well in advance to replace them.
Fact check
As London's Telegraph and other foreign media reported, America came to stay. Plans are being finalized to leave US combat forces in place until 2024.
We have long supported the war in Afghanistan as a painful but necessary fight to ensure that Al Qaeda does not again have a major launching pad for attacking the United States."Resolving Afghanistan's conflict is no closer today than years earlier. Some observers believe conditions now are worse than ever. Obama inherited a quagmire and worsened it.
The longer Afghan fighting continues, the stronger Al Qaeda gets. Obama claiming US forces "devastated" its leadership is duplicitous political posturing. He didn't make the case Tuesday night, because he has none.Hmmmm........."the Emperor's no clothes".Read the full story here.
Assad forces kill 4 students in campus raid and arrested more than 200.
Assad forces kill 4 students in campus raid and arrested more than 200.(AA). Syria’s Aleppo University on Thursday announced it was suspending classes after pro-government forces killed four students and arrested more than 200 in a campus raid during anti-regime protests. In a message posted on its website, the northern city’s university told students that classes were suspended until final exams on May 13. “Students were barred from entering the campus and were told that the university dorms were shut down until further notice,” Mohammed al-Halabi, an activist on the ground, told AFP via Skype. He said security forces had raided the dormitories Thursday morning and had thrown out students and their belongings. He said some of the rooms were torched. Student activist Thaer al-Ahmed said security forces and pro-regime gunmen fired tear gas and live ammunition to disperse the students at Aleppo University after entering the students’ residences late Wednesday night. The decision to shut down the university came after Syrian troops and armed supporters overnight stormed an anti-regime protest on campus killing four students and arresting more than 200, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Britain-based watchdog also reported that 28 students were wounded, three of them critically. Activists said the raid was carried out in response to daily anti-regime demonstrations at the university in Syria’s second largest city. “Security forces stormed the campus in large numbers at night and opened fire during a large student demonstration calling for the fall of the regime,” Halabi said. As many as seven people have been killed by the fire of Syrian forces across the country on Thursday, Al Arabiya reported citing activists at the Syrian Revolution Commission. Massive protests were reported in several neighborhoods in the capital Damascus, the biggest of which was reported in al-Salheiya region, Al Arabiya reported citing Syrian activists. Random shootings were reported in al-Hamama village in Idlib, activists said, and mortar shells hit Rastan in Homs.Read the full story here.

'Europe's Last Dictator' Lukashenko's police arrest audience at screening of movie 'Europe's Last Dictator'.(TheWeek).AN ENTIRE cinema audience has been arrested in Minsk during a screening of a documentary that explores Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko's violent treatment of protesters. Police entered the Free Theatre five minutes into a screening of Europe's Last Dictator and ordered the 20 members of the audience to stand against the wall, before arresting them, reports Telegraf. The audience was taken to a local police department, fingerprinted and interrogated and when they were released three hours later, some claimed their personal belongings had been damaged. One member of the audience said his memory card had been removed from his camera and another alleged his computer was broken. The 55-minute film, which won best documentary at the London Independent Film Festival last week, exposes the violent police crackdown of a peaceful protest against a rigged presidential election in 2010. Directed by Juan Passarelli and Mathew Charles - and narrated by Joanna Lumley - the documentary recounts how riot police stormed Independence Square, beating and arresting over 700 protesters who had rallied to contest an 80 per cent election victory for Lukashenko, who has been in power since 1994.Footage from the film shows women on the ground being kicked by police. House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa releases draft of contempt of Congress citation for Eric Holder over Fast and Furious.
House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa releases draft of contempt of Congress citation for Eric Holder over Fast and Furious.(DC).House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa has taken the first formal step in holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress over Operation Fast and Furious. On Thursday, Issa distributed a both briefing paper laying out the case for holding the Attorney General in contempt and a lengthy draft of the contempt citation to Democrats and Republicans on his House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. In a statement accompanying the briefing paper and contempt citation draft’s release, Issa said they describe how the Department of Justice and Holder have refused to cooperate with the congressional investigation into Fast and Furious. “This briefing paper and draft contempt report explains the case, to both Members of the Committee and the American people, for holding Attorney General Holder in contempt of Congress,” Issa said in the statement. “In describing the results of the Justice Department’s refusal to cooperate – including the hardships the family of a fallen Border Patrol agent have faced in seeking the truth, and retaliation against agents who blew the whistle on gunwalking – this briefing paper provides the facts, on which decisions will be made.” Holder spokesman Tracy Schmaler didn’t immediately respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment, but CBS News’ Sharyl Attkisson reports that a DOJ official claims it has complied with congressional investigations into Fast and Furious. “We’ve done twice-a-month [document] productions since last year, and the Attorney General has testified about this matter no less than seven times,” an anonymous DOJ official told CBS news. Here is a copy of the memorandum and the draft of the contempt citation. PA Media Glorifies Master Terrorist On Anniversary of His Death
PA Media Glorifies Master Terrorist On Anniversary of His Death.(INN).By Elad Benari.During the week of the anniversary of the death of PLO arch-terrorist Abu Jihad, the Palestinian Authority held events and broadcast TV programs celebrating him and his terror attacks.
The programs as well as newspaper articles glorifying Abu Jihad were monitored and translated by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) research organization, which presented them on its website.
Abu Jihad was the name by which the former head of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s military wing, Khalil al-Wazir, was known. 125 Israeli civilians and soldiers were killed in terror attacks he planned and directed. Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement a few months ago exposed a video which shows Abu Jihad plotting to kill then-Cabinet minister Ariel Sharon.
WAFA, the official PA news agency, glorified his killing of Israelis and his attacks on civilian targets in an article that also appeared in the official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida on April 16.
“Abu Jihad was killed by the Israeli Mossad in Tunisia on April 16, 1988… and was crowned the Prince of the Martyrs of Palestine… Among the military operations planned by Abu Jihad: the explosion at the Zohar reservoir in 1955; the operation to blow up the Israeli National Water Carrier in 1965; the operation at the Savoy Hotel in Tel Aviv, which killed 10 Israelis, in 1975; the blowing up of a truck bomb in Jerusalem in 1975; the killing of Albert Levi, the senior sapper, and his assistant, in Nablus in 1976; the Dalal Mughrabi operation (i.e., bus hijacking), in which more than 37 Israelis were killed, in 1978; the shelling of the Eilat Port in 1979; the Katyusha fire on the northern settlements [in Israel] in 1981…”
WAFA lauded Abu Jihad for attacking numerous civilian targets and depicted the killing of civilians and soldiers as positive accomplishments. Because of his successful record of terror, said the report, the anniversary of Abu Jihad’s death is celebrated.
PMW also noted that sporting events portraying him as a hero and role model for youth were held throughout the anniversary period, as reported in the official PA daily on April 12.
“The anniversary of the Martyrdom-death of our people’s legendary leader, Khalil Al-Wazir, Abu Jihad, is approaching, and in its honor the sports organizations in Palestine are organizing many tournaments in diverse branches of sports… the knights of the Ansar Al-Quds club have commemorated this anniversary every year, and continue to do so. This year they will be holding their 18th tournament.”
Other sporting events held in Abu Jihad’s name included a table-tennis championship, a judo tournament, a boxing tournament and a marathon.
The PA TV aired parts of a long documentary program, including old films showing Abu Jihad planning large scale terror attacks against Israel. The film was produced in 2010 under the auspices and supervision of Fatah MP Ashraf Jum’a.
In the film Abu Jihad is heard saying, “After we strike the [Israeli] headquarters, Allah willing, we will close off the streets [of Tel Aviv]. On one street, for example, we will hold 500 people [hostage]. 500 people at once. Can anyone bargain over them? No one, without exception, is allowed to go there unless he sets up the fuse and the explosives. At any moment, he can blow up everyone. Blow up their building, or the whole thing, no matter how many people are there. Our dagger will be a poisoned dagger in our enemy’s heart, and we will take down as many as possible. We want to land on enemy territory (Israel) and to be like a single fortress. When we get there, Allah willing, we will begin to fire, to fire on our enemy. We will dig in his throat and heart with the massacres that we spoke about. We want to turn the Tel Aviv day black. We want to turn the Tel Aviv day into destruction, Allah willing. We will turn the Tel Aviv day so it will be remembered in the history of Tel Aviv as black Saturday, black Sunday. Tel Aviv will be closed that whole day with blood and destruction.”
A second Abu Jihad film was also broadcast on PA TV on April 16.Hmmmm....The 'People' that the Obama Admin is FINANCING with American taxpayer money, against Congress demand.Read the full story here.

Obama IRS Refunding Billions to Illegals Who Are Claiming Kids (Excisting or not?) in Mexico.
Obama IRS Refunding Billions to Illegals Who Are Claiming Kids (Excisting or not?) in Mexico.HT: Mr. AOW ; DougRoss.Just when you thought your outrage-meter had pegged the needle, you come across a brand new atrocity courtesy of a government that is completely out-of-control.
...Investigative television reporter Bob Segall of Indianapolis NBC affiliate WTHR TV Channel 13, was contacted by a long-time central Indiana tax preparer, who blew the whistle on a multi-billion dollar tax fraud about which the IRS has done nothing, according to the TV news show video segment that aired on Monday.“There is not a doubt in my mind there’s huge fraud taking place here,” he said, slowly flipping through the pages of a [heavily redacted] tax return... “We’re talking about a multi-billion dollar fraud scheme here that’s taking place and no one is talking about it,” he said.
The scheme involves illegal immigrants that are filing tax returns, claiming child credits for multiple dependents under their support in “their” U.S. household, and collecting enormous cash refunds–such as one persons tax return that showed income of over $14,000, who collected a cash refund of over $10,300.However, Segall’s investigation and reporting found many illegal immigrants who were claiming these tax credits, but for kids who live in Mexico–even listing nieces and nephews.“We’ve seen sometimes 10 or 12 dependents, most times nieces and nephews, on these tax forms,” the whistleblower told Eyewitness News. “The more you put on there, the more you get back.”
After Segall reviewed many of the heavily redacted tax returns, it was still clear that the tax filers had received large tax refunds after claiming child tax credits for many dependents... “Here’s a return right here: we’ve got a $10,3000 refund for nine nieces and nephews,” he said, pointing to the words “niece” and “nephew” listed on the tax forms nine separate times.
“We’re getting an $11,000 refund on this tax return. There’s seven nieces and nephews,” he said, pointing to another set of documents. “I can bring out stacks and stacks. It’s just so easy it’s ridiculous.”
Segall of WTHR was able to speak with several of the illegal immigrants who, using Segall’s translator–confirmed it is easy.
...Segall then met with Russell George, the U.S. Treasury Department’s Inspector General for Tax Administration, who stated … “The magnitude of the problem has grown exponentially,” but that the IRS has known about the problem for years...
...Mr. George said his department has repeatedly warned the IRS that additional child tax credits are being abused by undocumented workers–in 2009 alone, their annual audit report showed that ITIN tax filers received about $1 billion in additional child tax credits... The same audit report from 2010 showed it cost the American tax payers more than $4.2 billion...Read the full story here and here.

Even If Iran’s Radicals Could Be Deterred From Attacking Israel, Their Actions Are Already Illegal Under International Law.
Even If Iran’s Radicals Could Be Deterred From Attacking Israel, Their Actions Are Already Illegal Under International Law.(WSJ).By Robert Bernstein, Irwin Cotler and Stuart Robinowitz. Many of Iran’s crimes are well-known to Americans and observers worldwide. The Tehran regime wants to build a nuclear weapon despite being a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty; it supports the brutal crackdown of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad against his own people; it is the leading state sponsor of terrorism, killing innocents from Argentina to Lebanon, Afghanistan and beyond; and it is engaged in massive domestic repression. Less recognized, however, is the legal significance of Iran’s genocidal anti-Semitic and anti-Israel rhetoric, which constitutes one of the most serious crimes under international law. The United Nations’ Genocide Convention outlaws not only acts of genocide but “incitement” to genocide, an egregious offense whether or not genocide has yet occurred. The convention’s goal, of course, is to prevent genocide before it takes place. Tragically, warnings of impending atrocities in Rwanda were ignored by the international community. As a result, 800,000 innocent civilians were slaughtered in a genocide that could have been prevented. Iran has given the world ample warning. A website affiliated with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared in February that Iran would be justified in killing all Israeli Jews-which Tehran’s long-range missiles could accomplish in nine minutes, boasted the site. Khamenei, for his part, has called Israel a “cancerous tumor that must be removed” and declared that there is “justification to kill all the Jews and annihilate Israel, and Iran must take the helm.” Also in February, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hosted Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Tehran, as billboards in the city declared that it is every Muslim’s duty to “wipe out” Israel. “If all the Jews gathered in Israel, it would save us the trouble of going after them world-wide,” Nasrallah has said.
“It is an open war until the elimination of Israel and until the death of the last Jew on the earth.” Iranian officials’ threats are accompanied by their denial of the Holocaust and regular characterization of Jews as nonhuman or subhuman: “bloodthirsty barbarians,” “filthy bacteria,” “wild beasts,” “cattle,” “cancer,” “filthiest criminals,” “a blot,” “a stain,” “wild dogs” and the like. Similar slurs were made in Nazi Germany and Rwanda. They are the precursors to genocide. Some argue that Tehran is unlikely to act on its threats for fear of retaliation.
But Iran claims it could exterminate most of Israel’s population in a matter of minutes, so there would be little opportunity for retaliation. In any event, even if Iran’s radicals could be deterred, their incitement to genocide is still illegal under international law. Those who incite genocide, and those who defend them, often invoke the freedom of speech. But no free-speech law condones threats of mass murder.
The Nuremberg tribunal convicted and executed Nazi newspaper publisher Julius Streicher for inciting the murder of Europe’s Jews, even though he hadn’t committed murders directly. Like Khamenei and Ahmadinejad, Streicher referred to Jews as “a nation of bloodsuckers and extortionists,” adding that “The Jewish problem is not yet solved. Only when world Jewry has been annihilated will it have been solved.” The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda recently convicted journalists and politicians for public statements calling for the extermination of Tutsis (even though, as with Streicher, the defendants hadn’t participated in genocidal acts themselves). The tribunal declared that the right to freedom of expression is restricted by the Genocide Convention. Since the Genocide Convention removes the traditional immunity for heads of states, former Rwandan Prime Minister Jean Kambanda was sentenced to life in prison for his incendiary speeches. Such precedents should lead state parties to the Genocide Convention to file complaints against Iran-which is also party to the convention-before the International Court of Justice. Member states should also request that the U.N. Security Council pass a resolution condemning Iran’s incitement to genocide. They should also request that the council refer the matter to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, who can indict Khamenei, Ahmadinejad and their collaborators, as it has Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. This threat of criminal prosecution should be added to existing diplomatic and economic pressures meant to deter terrorism and nuclear-weapons development by Tehran. Silence is not a moral option when states threaten genocide-especially when they are on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons and boast that they can bring about a holocaust in a matter of minutes.Hmmm.....Anyone believes Obama's 'Atrocities Prevention Board' might agree?

North Korea camps 'house the desperate, not dissidents'.
North Korea camps 'house the desperate, not dissidents'.(AFP).SEOUL — A new report on North Korea's notorious political prison camps shows that many of those jailed in recent decades were desperate people seeking food or work overseas rather than dissidents. Other offences were even more trivial, it says: one female former student was serving a term for having a western-style dance with a foreigner, another student was incarcerated for singing a South Korean song. An entire family was thrown into a camp after the father forgot to refer to the state's late founder Kim Il-Sung as "Great Leader" during an ideological session.
The report by the South's National Human Rights Commission, a state-appointed body, is its most detailed investigation of human rights abuses in the communist state. Officials provided extracts to AFP this week before its upcoming release. "It details the horrific situation of inmates," a commission official said. The report is based on interviews with 834 refugees, including those once held in the six camps, which rights groups say house a total of around 200,000 "political" prisoners. It lists the names of 278 people in the camps between the mid-1990s and 2005 and information on their offences. "We hope this report will have the effect of checking and preventing human rights abuses in North Korea," Lee Yong-Ken, head of the commission's North Korea human rights team, told AFP. Among the 278, about 60 prisoners -- the largest single category -- were being punished for fleeing the impoverished country in search of food and work abroad or for trying to escape to South Korea. Twenty-seven of the inmates were ethnic Koreans who had settled in the North after moving from Japan. Five people were imprisoned for Christian worship while 29 were "guilty by association" -- serving time because of alleged offences committed by family members. About 30 were jailed for making critical comments about the regime, "defaming the dignity" of leaders, praising capitalism, disclosing state secrets or engaging in corruption. Others were held on espionage charges or for their political beliefs. According to a media report this week, the list includes one high-profile victim -- Sim Chol-Ho, a former vice minister of posts and telecommunications who was sent to the Yodok camp in 2001 for criticising intelligence authorities. Sim was released 18 months later and in February this year was named a minister, according to the Korea JoongAng Daily citing the commission report. It quoted a defector as saying Sim received about 200 grams (seven ounces) of corn powder every day in Yodok and was forced to eat grilled rats to survive.
Last month a group called the International Coalition to Stop Crimes against Humanity in North Korea estimated that 400,000 inmates of the camps have died in the past few decades from starvation, overwork or execution. The South Korean report quotes one woman as saying 3,721 inmates died from January to June in 2005 at the Jeungsan prison in South Pyongan province. The South's rights watchdog under previous administrations took a low-key approach on its neighbour's human rights record to avoid jeopardising an aid and engagement policy towards Pyongyang. But conservative President Lee Myung-Bak, who took office in early 2008 and abandoned the policy, has said he would not shy away from raising the subject.Read the full story here.

Reporters Without Borders: "A journalist killed every five days, six new “predators” brings total to 41."
Reporters Without Borders: "A journalist killed every five days, six new “predators” brings total to 41."(RSF).By Joel Guenoun.Today, World Press Freedom Day 2012, Reporters Without Borders condemns the furious pace of physical attacks on news providers and reports that a total of 21 journalists, and 6 netizens and citizen journalists have been killed since the start of 2012, many of them in war zones such as Somalia and Syria. This is a rate of one news provider killed ever five days. Reporters Without Borders is today also releasing an updated list of its “predators of the freedom to inform,” a list that has grown in size and now has 41 members. “Let there be no witness to our crimes” and “let there be no voice but ours” – these are the watchwords of authoritarian regimes and armed groups that are hostile to freedom of information.
What with crackdowns on protest in Arab countries, and suppression of political opposition, criticism and reporting in other parts of the world, the first four months of 2012 were especially violent for those who try to provide news and information. The first quarter of 2012 has clearly shown that the world’s predators of the freedom to inform, led by Syria’s Bashar Al-Assad and Somalia’s Islamist militias, are capable of behaving like outright butchers.
The 2011 revolts toppled several despots who were on the predators list such as Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi and Yemen’s Ali Abdallah Saleh but they unfortunately did not reduce the overall number of these enemies of information. Six new predators have joined this evil “club” in 2012: Boko Haram, an Islamist group that spreads terror in Nigeria; Egypt’s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which has regrettably taken over from deposed dictator Hosni Mubarak as regards violating freedom of information; the Somali federal government’s information minister, who is responsible for harassment and intimidation of the media; Vasif Talibov, the all-powerful leader of Azerbaijan’s “Autonomous Republic” of Nakhchivan; Pakistan’s intelligence agencies; and Kim Jong-un, who perpetuated North Korea’s predatory dictatorship on the death of his father, King Jong-il. There is a growing trend for countries to have more than one predator. Six countries now have two. Somalia has as the Islamist militia Al-Shabaab as well as the information minister. Pakistan has the Taliban as well as the intelligence agencies. Azerbaijan has President Ilham Aliev as well as Nakhchivan’s strongman, Talibov, who has turned his fiefdom into a laboratory for the repressive methods that Aliev applies in the rest of the country. Russia not only has Vladimir Putin but also his Chechen “guard-dog,” Ramzan Kadyrov, who shares his master’s taste for forceful words and gestures. The Palestinian Territories have both the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza, both of which use their security forces to harass journalists. And finally, the Islamic Republic of Iran has both Supreme Leader Khamenei and President Ahmadinejad, who – despite their rivalry – agree on gagging the media. Iran still ranks with Eritrea, China, Turkey and Syria as one of the world’s biggest prisons for journalists. Other presidents, such as Djibouti’s Ismail Omar Guelleh, Sudan’s Omar al-Bashir and Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, could be added to the predators list soon. Yemen, which had a particularly trying 2011, continues to be under close scrutiny since President Saleh’s departure. Burmese President Thein Sein, on the other hand, could be removed from the list if he proves to be the president of reform and democratization in 2012. The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) were on the list for many years, like Colombia’s paramilitary groups, which are still on it. The FARC guerrillas were dropped from the list some time ago because they cut back targeted actions against journalists. But now the FARC are being blamed for French freelance journalist Roméo Langlois’ disappearance since 28 April, when FARC guerrillas attacked a military anti-drug operation that Langlois was covering. Reporters Without Borders is following the case closely, and with the appropriate caution. The organization intends to use World Press Freedom Day to pay tribute to his professional courage and to voice its support for his family and colleagues.See the complete list of predators.Read the full story here.
Noble Energy - Drilling Suspended at Leviathan 1 Gas Well.
Noble Energy - Drilling Suspended at Leviathan 1 Gas Well.(INN).Drilling operations have been suspended on the Leviathan deep well, Noble Energy has reported. Drilling was suspended before the primary objective was reached in the second stage of operations due to high pressure and certain mechanical limitations, the energy exploration firm said. Operations stopped at a depth of 21,400 feet (6,522 meters). "Over the course of deepening the Leviathan 1 well, the company and its partners have obtained valuable geological and engineering data about the basin,” Noble Energy said in a statement released Thursday. "At approximately 21,000 feet, the well encountered a zone where natural gas was detected.” The Globes business news service quoted sources as saying “the likelihood of finding oil [is] higher” in light of the data uncovered during the operations. Nevertheless, Globes added, “the belief in the sector is that it will not be possible to renew drilling this year.” The Leviathan gas field is a large natural gas field located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea about 81 miles (130 km) off the coast of Haifa. Constituting one of the largest offshore gas finds of the past decade, included in the field is Leviathan 1, its first well. Leviathan 1 was first drilled to a depth of 16,960 feet (5,170 m) in the first stage, where deposits contained 16 trillion cubic feet (450 billion cubic meters) of natural gas. Drilling was intended to reach a depth of 23,600 feet (7,200 meters) in the second stage, where the estimated natural gas reserve comprises another nine trillion cubic feet (250 billion cubic meters.Read the full story here.

Russia Does Not Rule Out Preemptive Missile Defense Strike in Europe.
Russia Does Not Rule Out Preemptive Missile Defense Strike in Europe.(RN).Russia does not exclude preemptive use of weapons against [NATO] missile defense systems in Europe but only as a last resort, the Russian General Staff said on Thursday at a missile defense conference in Moscow. “The placement of new strike weapons in the south and northwest of Russia against [NATO] missile defense components, including the deployment of Iskander missile systems in Kaliningrad region is one possible way of incapacitating the European missile defense infrastructure,” Chief of the General Staff Nikolai Makarov said. Taking into account the “destabilizing nature of the missile defense system... the decision on the pre-emptive use of available weapons will be made during an aggravation of the situation,” he said. The projected European missile defense system could by 2020 have the ability to intercept Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said on Thursday. The United States and NATO agreed to develop the system at a summit in Lisbon in 2010, but talks between Russia and the alliance have floundered over NATO’s refusal to grant Russia legal guarantees that the system would not be aimed against Russia’s strategic nuclear deterrent. “By 2018-2020 - that is the third and fourth phases of the deployment of the Euro-missile defense in Europe – the continent should have enough anti-missile defense to be able to intercept part of Russia’s intercontinental ballistic missiles, and submarine launched ballistic missiles,” Patrushev said at an international conference on Euro-missile defense in Moscow. “The geographical regions and technical characteristics of these missile defense systems create the foundations for additional dangers, especially considering the current and future levels of high-precision armament of the United States,” he said. “Our experts say other targets, which could require serious missile defense against it, do not really exist,” he said. Patrushev said the creation of the Euro-missile defense, which is taking place without Russia’s agreement and will lead to a degradation of Russia’s nuclear deterrent, could lead to a disbalance in strategic stability at the regional and global levels. “The refusal to discuss the conditions for providing legal binding guarantees for the deployment system to be not aimed at Russia strengthens our convictions that the real goal of this missile defense system could differ from what is stated,” he said. Russia’s military and political leadership has already warned its western partners several times that if talks fail, Russia may take a series of measures including deployment of Iskander short-range nuclear-capable tactical ballistic missiles in the Kaliningrad exclave. NATO denies its missile defense proposals are aimed at Russia. "In fact, we have no desire at all to disturb global strategic stability," NATO's Deputy General Secretary Alexander Vershbow told the conference. "Quite the contrary: NATO missile defense will be capable of intercepting only a small number of relatively unsophisticated ballistic missiles. It does not have the capability to neutralize Russian deterrence."Read the full story here.
