Egyptian Government Daily: U.S. Striving to Divide Egypt into Four Countries

Bernard Lewis, FBA and professor emeritus of Near Eastern studies

Egyptian Government Daily: U.S. Striving to Divide Egypt into Four Countries.(Memri).As part of Egypt's crackdown on civil society organizations receiving funding from foreign countries, chiefly from the U.S. – a move that has sparked a crisis in Egypt-U.S. relations – a judicial investigation of these organizations' activities is currently underway. In February 2012, Egyptian authorities announced that a raid on premises of these organizations had yielded maps attesting to a plot to partition Egypt.Subsequently, the Egyptian government daily Al-Ahram published an article by journalist Muhammad Duniya claiming that 30 years ago, on orders from the U.S. administration, renowned scholar Bernard Lewis, FBA and professor emeritus of Near Eastern studies at Princeton University, had concocted a plan to divide Egypt into four smaller countries and to partition all the Arab and Islamic countries in the region. It should be mentioned that similar claims regarding an alleged plan by Prof. Lewis to divide Egypt were mentioned approximately two years ago in a sermon by Muslim Brotherhood General Guide Muhammad Badi', and a year ago on the Muslim Brotherhood's official website. Duniya's description of the plot, which he attributes to retired general Sameh Seif Al-Yazal, an Egyptian strategic expert, is strikingly similar to the one posted on the Muslim Brotherhood website; in fact, some portions are identical."Recently, several foreign media outlets attempted to revive the old notion of the dubious plan to divide Egypt. This Zionist-American plan aims to divide Egypt into four small countries: the first, in Sinai and the eastern Delta, will be under Jewish influence; the second, a Christian country with Alexandria as its capital, will extend all the way to southern Asyut; the third will be in Al-Nuba; and the fourth, called the barbarian state, will have Cairo as its capital. In the past, some thought that the warnings regarding this dubious plan... were meant to promote [certain] positions. However, the investigation [currently] underway by the Egyptian judiciary regarding illegal funding of civil society organizations has uncovered division maps at the headquarters of an American organization..."This plan was leaked to the internet a long time ago under the title 'Dividing Egypt'... Several Middle East scholars and researchers decided to revive this idea and posted the division maps online, which indicates that external and internal hands are currently stirring the pot in Egypt.."The seizure of the partition map of Egypt at the headquarters of an American organization proves the existence of this dubious plan. The basic idea belongs to the British Jewish Orientalist Bernard Lewis, who formulated the most serious plan to fragment the Arab and Islamic world from Pakistan to Morocco, which was published in the journal of the U.S. Department of Defense. One Egyptian Province "Will Be Under Jewish Influence, In Order to Fulfill the Jews' Dream [to Rule] From the Nile to the Euphrates""As for the details of Bernard Lewis's Zionist-American plan to fragment the Islamic world, Seif Al-Yazal added that it includes dividing Egypt into four small countries. The first, in the Sinai and eastern Delta, will be under Jewish influence, in order to fulfill the Jews' dream [to rule] from the Nile to the Euphrates. [The second,] a Christian country with Alexandria as its capital, will stretch from the southern part of the Beni Suef [Governorate] to the southern part of Asyut [Governorate], and will also stretch westward... to [the city] of Mersa Matruh. [The third,] a Nubian country, will be integrated with South Sudan, with Aswan as its capital... [This third country] will connect the southern part [of Egypt], which lies between Upper Egypt and North Sudan... to the Berber country, which will stretch from southern Morocco to the Red Sea. [The fourth,] Islamic Egypt, with Cairo as its capital, will include the remaining parts of Egypt. [Those behind the plan] want [this fourth country], too, to be under Israeli influence and become part of Greater Israel, to which the Jews aspire."According to the strategic expert [Al-Yazal], all this information clearly indicates that there are those who have been lying in wait for Egypt for years. [These] external elements exploited the violent events that took place after the revolution in an attempt to topple Egypt, realize this plan, and revive the notion of re-dividing Egypt..."The notion [of partitioning Egypt] has already been discussed in the foreign media, and several conferences were held abroad which explored the possibility of achieving a critical [level of] political fomentation in the Middle East in general, and in Egypt in particular, [favorable] to eventually dividing the largest country in the region into small countries that cannot stand up to the current world blocs."Al-Yazal warned against being dragged into the realization of this plan. All groups in the Egyptian public, regardless of trend or stream, should be wary of these ideas, bring them out into the open, and do whatever it takes to stop them."Read the full story here.

Greece: "It's the Final CountDown".

Greece: "It's the Final CountDown".(KV).Via The Slog we learn of a document, circulating around two large American banks, which seems to be a time-table for the 'controlled default' and Greek exit from the euro.
The document asserts that Greece will officially be declared in default by all the ratings agencies after the close of business on Friday march 23rd . At the weekend all Greek bank accounts will be frozen, with emergency measures detailed to prevent the flight of capital. Included in the paperwork is a list of very limited exceptions to the ‘no withdrawals’ order. All major banks ‘are instructed not to deal with euro exchange as of open of business in Greece on Monday 25th march. All Greek markets will close for one day ‘at least’.
Mark your calendars: March 23rd, after business hours. That's supposedly when the world (or at least the EUnion) will get even more interesting.

The two banks in possession of the document are Barclays and JP Morgan. And if you're wondering why two US banks would have this document, but no mention is made of EUro banks with a similar time-table: Merkozy are *not* in control. This is the Obama administrations doing. Moreover, there seems to be a similar planned exit for Portugal.
Further enquiries have revealed allegations that first, “the White House played hardball in several meetings with top bank currency traders” to ensure that “the Greek thing didn’t get out of control and ruin Obama’s chances”; second, Portugal is described as being “in the frame” for a similar process; third, the documents are from the Federal Reserve not the Treasury; and lastly, both the IMF and senior members of the German Government are in the loop.

It seems to me there are black arts at work here, and I’ve no desire to be suckered by them. Some of the media information out today since The Slog’s original piece is potentially conflicting, as indeed is some of the history surrounding this story. The biggest of these is the ‘split’ now alleged to exist between Merkel and Schauble about “what to do with” (lovely choice of phrase, that one) Greece. The story put out – and run by the London Financial Times this morning GMT – is that Schauble wants Athens to default, and Merkel doesn’t.

I think the story is bollocks. Superficially it rings true, but in reality this is an obvious attempt to deflect the flak away from Merkel after yesterday’s outrage at Berlin’s suggestion of postponing elections in Greece.Read the full story here.

Now lets see What ZeroHedge has to say about all this.
Greece is Not Lehman 2.0... As I'll Show, It's Much Much Worse.By.Graham Summers.
Investors simply do not understand the significance of Greece. Comparisons are being made to Lehman, but these comparisons are mute for the following reason: Greece is a country not a private institution.
This is not a subtle difference. True, Lehman’s derivatives were spread throughout the global financial system just as Greek sovereign debt is. However, investors are missing the point of the fall-out a Greek default would create.
Firstly, let’s think about Lehman. When Lehman went under, half of the other banks that were in trouble had already been merged with larger entities (Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch). Those banks that were still standing after Lehman went under, changed to bank holding companies (Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs) in order to receive special access to Fed lending.
None of these options exist regarding the sovereign crisis in Europe today. If Greece defaults, Portugal can’t merge with Spain. And Italy can’t suddenly change itself to a new form of country that gets special treatment from the ECB (it’s already getting special treatment from the ECB by the way).

This cuts to the core issues for sovereign defaults in the EU. Here are the facts regarding those EU countries on the verge of collapse:

1) You cannot solve a debt problem with more debt

2) Austerity measures slow economic growth which in turn makes it harder to meet debt payments

This is simple basic common sense. But these are the policies being promoted by EU leaders: we’ll give you more money if you implement more austerity measures to get your finances in order.
The fact of the matter is that there is simply no way on earth that Greece can get its finances in order (short of a massive default). Greece has terrible age demographics, a lack of economic growth, and cultural issues (e.g. paying taxes is for suckers) that it impossible for the country to solve its financial problems.
In plain terms, Greece racked up too big of a tab and simply doesn’t have the means of paying it. End of story. The world needs to realize this. Because Greece will default and it will default in a big way,
The impact of this will be tremendous. For one thing, pretty much everyone is lying about their exposure to Greece. Consider Germany for instance. According to the Bank of International Settlements German bank exposure to Greece is only $3.9 billion (though they state this is only on an immediate borrower basis).
So, when Greece defaults, the fall-out will be much, much larger than people expect simply by virtue of the fact that everyone is lying about their exposure to Greece.
Secondly, when Greece defaults, the other PIIGS (Italy, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal) will have to ask themselves… “do we opt for austerity measures and more debt which obviously didn’t work for Greece and will only stifle our economies more? Or do we also default?
That’s a very tough question to answer. But I’d wager more than one of them will opt for default. And if you think European bank exposure to Greece is understated, you don’t even want to know how bad exposure to Italy and Spain is (to give you an idea, the German bank I referred to earlier, again by its own admission, has total PIIGS exposure equal to 60% of its equity).
Folks, the European banking system is in huge trouble. This won’t be Lehman 2.0. This is going to be something far, far worse. Some of these countries are already sporting unemployment of 20%. What happens when their largest banks go under?
Also, remember that the EU is:

1) The single largest economy in the world ($16.28 trillion)

2) China’s largest trade partner

3) Accounts for 21% of US exports

4) Accounts for $121 billion worth of exports for South America

It’s clear the EU is already heading into a recession without a banking crisis hitting. What do you think will be the impact when Europe as a whole experiences its own “2008” only on a sovereign level?

We are literally on the eve of a Crisis that will make 2008 look like a picnic.Hmmm.......Europe must be thinking: "Not all of me shall die." ~ Horace. Read the full story here.

  • Obama Blames the Banks - Hypocrisy Run Wild.(SI).By Richard Butrick.Speaking from the White House on Feb. 9th, Obama, assuming the air of a headmaster of boarding school, wagged his finger and proceeded to upbraid the "abusive" banks for their "irresponsible" and "reckless" policy of duping hapless blacks and other minorities into buying homes they couldn't afford. In summary, the theories single out (1) over reliance on regulation, (2) lack of regulation of the shadow banking system, (3) repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, (4) the inherent nature of socio-economic forces, (5) faulty credit evaluation. In none of the theories are the bankers singled out as the evil malefactors who duped innocents into taking on mortgages they could ill afford. But Obama, after exhaustive analysis, knows where to point the finger. Not only that, even though none of the analyses above raised the specter that the financial meltdown was the work of if evil malefactors, Obama not only knows it was banks fault he knows the evil bankers did it. The evil bankers deliberately duped hapless blacks and other minorities into taking on mortgages they could ill afford and now they must pay for their misdeeds.Read the full story here.

  • State Web Site Tracks Mexican Cartel Violence Along Border.(JW).Officials in Texas are under attack from a mainstream newspaper critical of a state web site created to track Mexican drug-cartel violence that’s transformed the southern border into a war zone. The Texas Department of Agriculture started the web site to keep farmers and residents informed about the growing danger created by Mexican drug cartels illegally crossing into the state. It’s occurring at an “increasingly alarming rate,” according to Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples and Washington is ignoring the crisis. The cartels are invading Texas farms and ranches, threatening citizens’ lives and jeopardizing the nation’s food supply, Staples says, adding that the web site, created less than a year ago, documents true stories of the constant danger along the border. The agriculture secretary also takes the opportunity to “implore the federal government to enforce our laws and secure our nation’s borders.”A few months ago his agency released a report, ordered by the state legislature, assessing the impact of illegal activity along the Texas-Mexico border on rural landowners and the agriculture industry. The details are downright appalling and reveal that shootings, beheadings, kidnappings and murders are common in the area. In fact, drug-cartel violence is so severe that Texas counties along the Mexican border are under attack around the clock. It’s difficult to dispute the findings since the probe was conducted by two reputable military veterans of varying political affiliations. One of them is a retired four-star Army General (Barry McCaffrey) who served as Bill Clinton’s Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The other, retired Army Major-General Robert Scales, is the former commander of the U.S. Army War College.Yet the mainstream media is critical of the way Texas is handling the situation, implying in story after story that the crisis along the southern border is a fabrication of a racist, right-wing movement. • Soviet-Style Cybersecurity Regulation.(Cato).By Jim Harper.Reading over the cybersecurity legislative package recently introduced in the Senate is like reading a Soviet planning document. One of its fundamental flaws, if passed, would be its centralizing and deadening effect on society’s responses to the many and varied problems that are poorly captured by the word “cybersecurity.”But I’m most struck by how, at every turn, this bill strains to release cybersecurity regulators—and their regulated entities—from the bonds of law. The Department of Homeland Security could commandeer private infrastructure into its regulatory regime simply by naming it “covered critical infrastructure.” DHS and a panel of courtesan institutes and councils would develop the regulatory regime outside of ordinary administrative processes. And—worst, perhaps—regulated entities would be insulated from ordinary legal liability if they were in compliance with government dictates. Regulatory compliance could start to usurp protection of the public as a corporate priority. The bill retains privacy-threatening information-sharing language that I critiqued in no uncertain terms last week (Title VII), though the language has changed. (I have yet to analyze what effect those changes have.)The news for Kremlin Beltway-watchers, of course, is that the Department of Homeland Security has won the upper-hand in the turf battle. (That’s the upshot of Title III of the bill.) It’s been a clever gambit of Washington’s to make the debate which agency should handle cybersecurity, rather than asking what the government’s role is and what it can actually contribute. Is it a small consolation that it’s a civilian security agency that gets to oversee Internet security for us, and not the military? None-of-the-above would have been the best choice of all.Ah, but the government has access to secret information that nobody else does, doesn’t it? Don’t be so sure. Secrecy is a claim to authority that I reject. Many swoon to secrecy, assuming the government has 1) special information that is 2) actually helpful. I interpret secrecy as a failure to put facts into evidence. My assumption is the one consistent with accountable government and constitutional liberty. But we’re doing Soviet-style cybersecurity here, so let’s proceed.Read the full story here.

  • Canadian teens being exposed to Islamic extremism in high schools: CSIS.(NP).TORONTO — A newly released intelligence report warns that teenagers are being exposed to Islamist extremism in Canadian high schools. In an Intelligence Assessment, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service says that in two recent cases, suspects charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act “appear to have been radicalized in part while attending Canadian secondary school institutions.” While high school years are a time of “exploration and idealism,” the report says “exposure to violent ideologies at this potentially vulnerable stage can set in motion a series of developments that can lead to actual acts of violence.”The report focuses on “Islamist extremism,” a conspiracy-driven narrative that claims the West is trying to destroy Islam and that Muslims are required to respond with violence. The appeal of this ideology among youths is a key concern to Canadian counterterrorism officials, particularly since the 2006 arrests of the Toronto 18, whose members plotted truck bombings in Toronto and an assault on the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. Since then, a handful of youths have left — or tried to leave — Canada for Pakistan and Somalia to join terrorist groups. The report says while Muslim high school students have a right to hold prayer services, CSIS is concerned “that individuals with extreme violent views could gain access to, or lead, these groups and thus help to radicalize others.”The report, “The 4th ‘R’: Radicalization and Islamist Extremism in Canadian Secondary Schools,” was released under the Access to Information Act.Read the full story here.

  • Canada - The million-dollar 'Radical mosque'.(NP).On a recent Friday at the Salaheddin mosque, Imam Aly Hindy spoke to his followers about how homosexuality was "invented," calling it "nonsense" and "garbage" to believe anyone could be born that way.He went on to talk about "illegal sexual acts" but added a qualifier: "Illegal means illegal in Islam, not illegal in the Canadian law, because everything is legal in the Canadian law, except children. Other than that, they allow everything."The Toronto imam has long been known for his controversial comments. He called the 9/11 attacks a joint CIA operation, refused to join other imams in signing a statement condemning the 2005 London bombings and referred to the Toronto 18 terrorists as good people. But while he remains as provocative as ever, the institution that serves as his platform has undergone a notable shift: According to federal charity records, the Salaheddin Islamic Centre is being increasingly financed by foreign patrons. But Imam Hindy said US$400,000 came from the Islamic Development Bank, which is based in Saudi Arabia and whose president is a Saudi. He said the other foreign donors were charities in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates."This is what Christian missionaries do from the West. In other parts of the world, this is their idea of doing missionary work. They give money to people they consider to be good Muslims and spreading the word," said Christian Leuprecht, an associate professor at the Royal Military College and Queen's University.Tahir Gora, secretary general of the Muslim Canadian Congress, said he was not impressed when he attended Imam Hindy's recent sermon. He said the imam had made "humiliating remarks" about homosexuals, and had tried to make the case that it didn't matter if Canada accepted homosexuals because Islam did not."He should respect Canadian values," said Mr. Gora, a writer who fled Pakistan after his critiques of religious intolerance brought death threats. "If he's getting so much funding from different corners, he should try and assimilate Muslims in the society rather than trying to alienate them from the society."He said following Imam Hindy's prayer, youths stood outside the mosque entrance handing out pamphlets that claimed that "hatred of Islam" was behind recent media coverage of the so-called honor killings murder trial in Kingston."The case was exploited by the agenda driven media to vilify Islam and Muslims," it read. It went on to claim the "role of the media is to put pressure on Muslims living in the West to abandon Islamic values and adopt secular-liberal values instead."Listed as director and president, the Egyptian-born Imam Hindy calls himself a fundamentalist, not an extremist. An RCMP report refers to him as a "focal point for Toronto-area Islamic radicals," and a New York Police Department report calls Salaheddin "a known radical mosque."Imam Hindy does not preach violence and says he steers youths away from radicalism. But some of the centre's former worshippers have been linked to terrorism. A former founder, Hassan Farhat, left Canada to join an al-Qaeda-linked group in Iraq, where he allegedly commanded a squad of suicide bombers. Ahmed Khadr, a senior Canadian al-Qaeda figure, visited the mosque when he was in Toronto and his family worshipped there. The former principal of the mosque school, Mahmoud Jabballah is undergoing deportation proceedings after the government alleged he was a member of the Egyptian terrorist group Al Jihad. The ringleaders of the Toronto 18 terrorist group, which plotted attacks in Southern Ontario, were also worshippers, as was a man arrested last year at the Toronto airport as he was allegedly on his way to join the Somali terrorist group Al Shabab.Hmmmm......."This is what Christian missionaries do from the West." yes funded by the Vatican.Who's funding them?Read the full story here.

  • MB Spokesman Describes Caliphate "Dream".(TIP).Having swept into majorities in Egypt's parliament, a Muslim Brotherhood spokesman is making it clear the group has ambitions far beyond Cairo."Concerning the Islamic caliphate, this is our dream, and we hope to achieve it, even after centuries," Brotherhood spokesman Mahmoud Ghuzlan told Egypt's Ahram news outlet in an interview Sunday. "It is the right of the Brotherhood that this is one of the pillars of its strategy. We are not concerned about the renaissance of the group only. Rather our first goal is the renaissance of Egypt, then the Arab world and then the Islamic world. This will come gradually."Ghuzlan's statement echoes comments Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohammed Badie made during a speech in late December. In it, Badie explained Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna's original agenda remains intact. "It begins with the reform of the individual and then to start building the family and society, then the government; then the rightly guided caliphate, then instructing the world; instructing guidance, wisdom, truth and justice."Neither Badie's comments nor Ghuzlan's interview have been picked up by American news media. They should be, because if Ghuzlan speaks for his organization, then the incoming Egyptian government opposes American policy when it comes to peace efforts in the region and in trying to block Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. While the Brotherhood has issues with Iran, he said, it supports the Islamic Republic when they are in agreement, "such as its standing up against America and the West who are trying to abort its nuclear program."Ghuzlan also affirmed the Brotherhood's relationship to Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist movement which controls Gaza. "Hamas is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine and the last bastion to protect it considering that the group is scattered in about seventy countries. It is part of the Da'wa of the Brotherhood. Between the two is an intellectual and emotional link. Our position on them is like our position on any brothers in the world, particularly Arab countries. We do not interfere in its affairs, and give advice if requested; the Brotherhood in every country respecting and living in accordance with the constitution of this state and its laws."In December, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh similarly acknowledged the connection. Hamas, he said, is the Brotherhood's "jihadist arm."Hmmmm.......These are the 'people' Obama is donating $1,57 Billion and is planning to sell 125 M1A1 Abrams battle tanks.Read the full story here.

  • Gaza terrorists attack IDF.(YNet).Palestinian terrorists fired RPG rockets at an IDF force patrolling the Gaza Strip border Friday evening and detonated an explosive device near the troops. No injuries were reported in the incident but the border fence in the area was damaged.IDF troops at the site directed tank fire at the terrorists. Earlier Friday, two rockets fired from Gaza exploded in the Eshkol regional council and south of Ashkelon, causing no injuries or damage.Following the escalating violence in the Gaza region, the IDF Spokesman's Office issued the following statement: "The IDF considers these to be grave acts of terror, which aim to harm residents and communities in the State of Israel." "The Hamas terror organization, which carries out acts of terror against the State of Israel, is jeopardizing Gaza Strip residents and will bear the responsibility for any future operation executed by the IDF in order to lift the threat of terror and restore the relative calm in the area," the army said.Meanwhile, Palestinian sources reported that the IDF directed tank fire at an open area east of the al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. No injuries were reported in the incident, the sources said. Earlier Friday, the Color-Red rocket alert was activated in several southern Israel communities after terrorists fired Qassam rockets from Gaza.Four other rockets were fired at Israel earlier this week, prompting Air Force gunships to strike open areas in Gaza. • 'Egypt to deliver fuel to Gaza after energy crisis'.(JPost).Egypt's parliamentary industry and energy committee announced Saturday that Cairo has agreed to provide fuel for the Gaza Strip's lone power plant, after fuel shortages and a dispute with smugglers forced the plant's shutdown and caused rolling blackouts.According to Palestinian Ma'an news agency, the quantities of fuel include 500 thousand liters of fuel for the power plant, and an additional 100 liters of fuel for vehicles.Fuel shortages in Egypt had prompted smugglers to demand prices higher than Gazans were ready to pay, according to Ma'an. AFP reported that Egyptian authorities had upped their crackdown on the smuggling of fuel to the Strip, which relies on its own power plant for up to a third of energy in the coastal enclave. That power plant experiences regular blackouts as fuel deliveries to Gaza are reliant on smugglers and are restricted by an Israeli land and sea blockade.Last week, energy authorities in Gaza announced that they could only provide families with up to six hours of power at a time, according to Al Jazeera. "Only half of the amount of fuel that entered in the previous weeks has been coming into Gaza for the past two weeks," the UN agency for humanitarian affairs, OCHA, said last Tuesday according to AFP. The UN organization said that Israel's blockade on Gaza, which began in 2006 following the Hamas takeover of the Strip, forced smugglers and Gazans to develop a tunnel system through which to transfer fuel."Palestinians gradually developed tunnel infrastructure allowing the transfer of large quantities of fuel into Gaza, at a cheaper price, which resulted in an almost complete halt in the purchase from Israel," the OCHA said according to AFP.Gaza is seeking to join an interstate energy grid that includes seven other Arab countries, but has said that the deal rests upon approval from the PLO.Read the full story here.

Crisis in US-Israel relations over nuclear talks with Iran.

Crisis in US-Israel relations over nuclear talks with Iran.(Debka).In the last 24 hours, the approach of international talks with Iran on its nuclear program has escalated already high tensions over the issue between the Obama administration and the Israeli government and triggered the following developments:
US President Barack Obama decided to send his US National Security Adviser Tom Donilon to an urgent visit to Israel Saturday, Feb. 18, for three days of talks “on regional issues including Syria and Iran.”
This unusually long trip by a top White House official over the weekend is a measure of the crisis in relations. The visit is part of the US “unshakeable commitment to Israel's security,” according to a White House statement. It was called “the latest in a series of regular, high-level consultations between the United States and Israel, consistent with our strong bilateral partnership.”
Such pledges no longer wash in Jerusalem, debkafile’s political sources report, in light of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s strong sense of betrayal from what he sees as surreptitious US diplomacy with Iran for promoting talks that will end the promised sanctions for halting Iran’s momentum for building a nuclear weapon now in its final stages. In private conversations, Netanyahu has said he feels cheated. By its actions the Obama administration leaves Israel with no recourse other than to grapple with the Iranian menace on its own, he has said, and be less sensitive to Washington’s wishes.
A bipartisan group of concerned US senators warned President Obama Friday that they would strongly oppose any proposal in talks with Iran that would allow it to continue uranium enrichment activities.Hmmmmm......"Pour les vaincre, messieurs, il nous faut de l'audace, encore de l'audace, et toujours de l'audace et la Patrie sera sauvée!" Turkey: "Turkey is not a member of the European Union " "Likewise, the decisions made by the US will not be binding,"

Turkey:"Turkey is not a member of the European Union ""Likewise, the decisions made by the US will not be binding,"(Fars).Ankara to Keep Strong Ties with Iran despite West's Pressure.Turkey said that it will keep its close ties and cooperation with Iran, specially in the energy sector.
"Turkey is not a member of the European Union (EU). Therefore, its decisions are not binding for us. Likewise, the decisions made by the US will not be binding," Speaking at a joint press conference with South African Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies in Ankara on Thursday, Turkey's Energy Minister Taner Yildiz stated that Ankara will not abide by the Western sanctions imposed against Tehran's energy sector. "Turkey is not a member of the European Union (EU). Therefore, its decisions are not binding for us. Likewise, the decisions made by the US will not be binding," Yildiz stated.
Davies, for his part, voiced South Africa's concern about the impact of the sanctions on the global oil prices and the global oil supply. India, China and Russia have also criticized ban on Iranian oil.
After months of debates, the EU member states eventually reached an agreement in their meeting on January 23 to sanction oil imports from Iran and freeze the assets of Iran's Central Bank within the EU. Meantime, demand is growing for Iranian crude oil in Asian and African markets after the EU's fresh decision. Iran is currently supplying 100% of Sri Lanka's oil needs, 51% of Turkey, 25% of South Africa, 14% of Greece, 13% of Italy and Spain, 11% of India and China and 10% of Japan and South Korea's oil demands. Salafi leader: ‘Mentally ill’ politicians defaming Islamist movement in Egypt.

Salafi leader: ‘Mentally ill’ politicians defaming Islamist movement in Egypt.(AlArabiya).Egypt is witnessing nowadays a counter-Islamist media campaign in what many describe is a bid to show fissures in the Islamist movement by accusing it od receiving foreign funding. The Salafis have received the major brunt of this criticism which prompted its official spokesperson, Sheikh Abdul Menhem Al Shahat, to publically challenge businessmen Naguib Swaris to prove that the Salafi movement had received even a penny from foreign sources.
Al Aabiya spoke to Nader Bakar, member of the high commission of An-Nour party, the political arm of the Salafi movement in Egypt. Bakar described the campaign against the Islamist movement an attempt by "mentally ill politicians" to reduce the movement’s popular support base.Bakar tackled the subject of Camp David convention saying that Islamists in Egypt need to debate this issue in parliament after the U.S. Reviewed its aid to Egypt and Israel. However he said investigation revealed the involvement of some Americans in foreign financing cases, the U.S threatened to cut aid to Egypt but not to Israel.
In this context, Bakar said: “The U.S. wants to send direct and indirect messages where you can read between the lines ... And to impose control over the Egyptian decision. And lately, we see that the U.S. has gone beyond the red line and is still behaving as if it is Mubarak’s era when they were used to sending direct threats to Egypt. We call on the current executive power to make the U.S. pay back twofold and to stop the American arrogance and put an end to American officials' provocative statements. Egypt will not accept arm-twisting and the Islamist movement, including the Salafi An-Nour party, agrees to continue receiving aid from the U.S. provided that Egyptian sovereignty remains intact and that the U.S. does not bind Egypt with any conditions. In fact, after the Egyptian revolution, there has been a popular resistance to any sort of affront to national dignity, threat or pressure under the name of aid and assistance. So Jesus lived in occupied territory?

Nearly 100 Palestinian terrorists in April 2002 holed up inside the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem while fleeing a massive Israeli anti-terror operation. One of Christianity’s most sacred sites, the church is believed to be the birthplace of Jesus.

So Jesus lived in occupied territory?(RSN).By Jan Markell.
A terrible tragedy will take place March 5-9 in the holy city of Bethlehem. Our Lord’s city of birth will host a conference called, “Christ at the Checkpoint.” Which Christ? Not the Christ of the Bible. The premise of the event is that the Palestinians live under brutal Israeli “occupation.” It is supposedly so bad that Israel is accused of apartheid-like treatment of the Palestinians such as the “separation” experienced in South Africa. The symbol for all of this is the wall of separation between Palestinian territories and Israeli land. Their perception is that this represents a military checkpoint. Israel’s perception — and reality — is that the wall saves Israeli lives.
Some 30 Christian leaders will be gathering at the Bethlehem Bible College to raise the banner of “Palestinian Liberation Theology” as the only true hope for reconciliation and peace in the Middle East. The target of the speakers will also be Israel’s divine right to the land.“Christian Zionism” will be “brought into the conversation” during the conference–but you can bet not in a friendly manner. No matter how benign Christian Zionism is, the Left side of Christianity’s aisle believes we look forward to Armageddon and we blindly root for the Israelis because they’re the chief players on the end-time stage and feel Israel has a right to their land. If the truth were known, we’re a puny band of evangelical Christians who are even outcasts in most of the major denominations today.
Christian Zionists are roundly scolded by this crowd. You can read that here. Our biggest problem is that we take the Bible literally! When did that almost become a crime? “Checkpoint” folks say we Christian Zionists support the “occupation” but it isn’t an occupation! We rejoice that on May 14, 1948, God just kept His word. Tony Campolo scolds us, too. We’re blind followers of Schofield and Darby and we need to get over it."
Christ at the Checkpoint" says Christian Zionism is a political movement that is "ethnocentric," privileging one people at the expense of others. Christianity calls believers in Jesus to focus on building God's kingdom on earth, says Checkpoint publicity, and not futuristic speculations. It is tragic how this bunch sweeps under the rug God's continued covenant with Israel. These folks have no appreciation of the "last days" spoken of so frequently in the Bible. "Christ at the Checkpoint" theologians do not want to consider Jesus as the Messiah of the Jewish people, someday returning to earth to set up His kingdom in Jerusalem to rule as the last Davidic King. Then they would have to acknowledge the continuance of the Abrahamic covenant with the modern state of Israel.
"Palestinian Liberation Theology" is heralded, however. It is all about the Palestinian struggle for "freedom" from their "occupied land." Followers of this sentiment see the Israelis as an "occupier" trying to oppress the Palestinians. Reality shows that Israel has worked them into their society, given them seats in the Israeli parliament, and given them a decent standard of living. Israel gave the Palestinians so much freedom that they let them elect the terror group Hamas to govern them. As a thank you, Hamas shells Israeli towns and settlements regularly. This conference will tell the world -- and the church -- that Israel brings this on due to their repression.
Many of the participants are part of the "religious Left" but some evangelicals show up yearly, including Lynne Hybels, wife of Willow Creek's Pastor Bill Hybels. We believe she should know better. Read the full story here.

Related - The beleaguered Christians of the Palestinian - controlled Areas.By David Raab.
The Christian community in the areas administered by the Palestinian Authority (PA) is a small but symbolically important one. About 35,000 Christians live in the West Bank and 3,000 in Gaza,1 representing about 1.3 percent of Palestinians. In addition, 12,500 Christians reside in eastern Jerusalem.(2003) - (2011)"It is currently estimated that the number of Christians living in Gaza totals only 1,500-3,000 amid 1.2 million Muslims. Probably less than fifty thousand Christians remain in all of East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza together.”In Bethlehem, the Christian population was an 80 percent majority in 1950. Today the population of Christian Arabs in Bethlehem is hovering at about 15 percent of the city's total population. The current 2010 Christian population of Israel is estimated at 154350.
This population is rapidly dwindling, however, and not solely as a result of the difficult military and economic situation of the past two years. Rather, there are numerous indications that the Christian population is beleaguered due to its Christianity. Taken in context of the condition of Christians in other Middle Eastern countries, this picture is especially credible and troubling.
Under Islam, Christians are considered dhimmi, a tolerated but second class who are afforded protection by Islam. Dhimmitude is integral to Islam; it is a "protection pact" that suspends "the [Muslim] conqueror's initial right to kill or enslave [Jews and Christians], provided they submitted themselves to pay tribute."
However, the reality of Christianity under Islam has often been difficult. "Over the centuries, political Islam has not been too kind to the native Christian communities living under its rule. Anecdotes of tolerance aside, the systematic treatment of Christians...is abusive and discriminatory by any standard....Under Islam, the targeted dhimmi community and each individual in it are made to live in a state of perpetual humiliation in the eyes of the ruling community." As described by a Christian Lebanese president, Bashir Gemayil: "a Christian...is not a full citizen and cannot exercise political rights in any of the countries which were once conquered byIslam."
Palestinian Christians have suffered as dhimmis for centuries. An English traveler in the Holy Land in 1816, for example, remarked that Christians were not permitted to ride on horseback without express permission from the Muslim Pasha.
Other European travelers to the Holy Land mentioned the practice whereby "a dhimmi must not come face to face with a Muslim in the street but pass him to the left, the impure side," and described how Christians were humiliated and insulted in the streets of Jerusalem until the mid-1800s.
The British consul in Jerusalem wrote that in the Holy Land, particularly in Jerusalem until 1839, Christians were pushed into the gutter by any Muslim who would swear: "turn to my left, thou dog." They were forbidden to ride on a mount in town or to wear bright clothes.
In the early 1900s, sporadic attacks on Christians by bands of Muslims occurred in many Palestinian towns.
During the Palestinian Arab revolt in the late 1930s, which involved very few Christians, if Christian villagers refused to supply the terrorist bands with weapons and provisions, their vines were uprooted and their women raped. The rebels forced the Christian population to observe the weekly day of rest on Friday instead of Sunday and to replace the tarboosh with the kaffiyeh for men, whereas women were forced to wear the veil.
In 1936, Muslims marched through the Christian village of Bir Zayt near Ramallah chanting: "We are going to kill the Christians."
In the early 1900s, with the Jewish return to the area, Palestinian Christians began to band with the Muslims to oppose Jewish immigration, at least in part as a way to deflect Muslim hostility away from themselves.
As Sir John Chancellor, British High Commissioner in Palestine, put it in 1931: "Christian Arab leaders, moreover, have admitted to me that in establishing close relations with the [Palestinian] Moslems the Christians have not been uninfluenced by fears of the treatment they might suffer at the hands of the Moslem majority in certain eventualities."
From 1953 until 1967, Jordan undertook to Islamize the Christian quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem by laws forbidding Christians to buy land and houses....It ordered the compulsory closure of schools on Muslim holidays and authorized mosques to be built near churches, thus preventing any possibility of enlargement.
The PA has shown contempt for certain Christian holy sites, and there has been significant desecration as well. For example, without prior consent of the church, Yasser Arafat decided to turn the Greek Orthodox monastery near the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem into his domicile during his visits to the city.28 On July 5, 1997, the PLO seized Abraham's Oak Russian Holy Trinity Monastery in Hebron, violently evicting monks and nuns.29
After the outbreak of Palestinian violence in September 2000, the PA's Tanzim militia chose the Christian town of Beit Jala to shoot at Jerusalem over other locations from which they could have similarly targeted communities built on land captured in 1967.
They specifically positioned themselves in or near Christian homes, hotels, churches (e.g., St. Nicholas), and the Greek Orthodox club, knowing that a slight deviation in Israeli return fire would harm Christian institutions or homes. At one point, Andreas Reinecke, head of the German Liaison office to the PA, protested:  I would like to draw your attention in this letter to a number of incidents which occurred at "Talitakoumi" school in Beit Jala...which is funded mainly by the Protestant Church in Berlin.
Over the last few days the school staff noticed attempts on the part of several armed Palestinians to use the school premises and some of its gardens for their activities. If they succeed in doing this, an Israeli reaction will be inevitable. This will have a negative impact on the continuation of the functioning of the school, in which no less than 1,000 [Christian] Palestinians study....You cannot imagine the kind of upheaval which will be provoked among the supporters of this school [in Germany] should they discover that the school premises are used as a battle ground.
The most glaring example of PA disregard for the holiness of Christian shrines, however, was the April 2002 takeover of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem by PA forces and their taking over 40 Christian clergy and nuns as hostages. As confirmed by a senior Tanzim commander, Abdullah Abu-Hadid, "The idea was to enter the church in order to create international pressure on Israel....We knew beforehand that there was two years' worth of food for 50 monks. Oil, beans, rice, olives. Good bathrooms and the largest wells in old Bethlehem. You didn't need electricity because there were candles. In the yard they planted vegetables. Everything was there."
Palestinian Christians are perceived by many Muslims - as were Lebanon's Christians - as a potential fifth column for Israel. In fact, at the start of the recent violence in 2000, Muslim Palestinians attacked Christians in Gaza, as confirmed by Fr. Raed Abusahlia, chancellor of the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem.
Anti-Christian graffiti is not uncommon in Bethlehem and neighboring Beit Sahur, proclaiming: "First the Saturday people (the Jews), then the Sunday people (the Christians)." The same has often been heard chanted during anti-Israel PLO/PA rallies. Accused of wearing "permissive" Western clothing, Bethlehem Christian women have been intimidated. Finally, rape and abduction of Christian women is also reported to have occurred frequently (especially in Beit Sahur), as was the case in Lebanon.Christian cemeteries have been defaced, monasteries have had their telephone lines cut, and there have been break-ins at convents.
In July 1994, the Wall Street Journal reported that Palestinian Muslims would not sell land to Christians and that Christian facilities and clubs had been attacked by Muslim extremists. Christian graves, crosses, and statues had been desecrated; Christians had suffered physical abuse, beatings, and Molotov cocktail attacks.Continuing the Islamic tradition of Saladin - who constructed two mosques contiguous to and taller than the Church of the Holy Sepulcher - mosques have mushroomed adjacent to and usually taller than churches. Loudly amplified Muslim sermons have been aired during Christian services, including the Pope's April 2000 address in Nazareth, which had to be halted until the Muslim call to prayer was concluded.Similar attacks have occurred in eastern Jerusalem.
Old City police chief Dep. Cmdr. David Givati confirmed that there have been a number of attacks by Moslems on Christian targets recently.Hmmmm........If Jesus was living in the 'occupied' territory, he wouldn't flee to Egypt.....chances are he would be moving to Israel.Read the full story here.

Islamic leadership of Turkey will not allow NATO to share intelligence with Israel.

Islamic leadership of Turkey will not allow NATO to share intelligence with Israel.(AlArabiya).Turkey will never allow any third country, particularly Israel, to use intelligence obtained by a NATO radar system, its foreign minister said on Friday. “We will never allow any third country to use any NATO facility. Our position will be even more clear if it is particularly Israel,” Davutoglu told a joint news conference with visiting NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen in Ankara.
His remarks came after some media outlets reported that the United States and Israel have carried out a joint missile test by using intelligence gathered by a NATO radar system based in eastern Turkey.
Last year Ankara decided to host in a military facility base near Malatya in the southeast an early warning radar as part of NATO's defense architecture.
“It is a NATO system and we appreciate that Turkey has agreed to host one of the facilities,” said Rasmussen.“Data are shared within our alliance among the allies. It is a defense system to protect the populations of NATO allies,” he added without mentioning Israel, which is not a NATO member.Hmmmm.....Obama:" Our ironclad commitment -- and I mean ironclad -- to Israel's security has meant the closest military cooperation between our two countries in history."....Yeah it's obvious from what your 'trusted' buddy Erdogan does.Read the full story here.More here.

Ethiopians to protest at Saudi Embassy in US over Christian arrests.

Ethiopians to protest at Saudi Embassy in US over Christian arrests.(BM).Cairo: Ethiopians living in the United States announced they will protest the Saudi Arabia Embassy in Washington DC this coming week over the jailing of Ethiopian Christians in the ultra-conservative Gulf kingdom.
We urge all those concerned in the Washington, D.C. area to participate in this protest. Saudi Arabian officials have refused to release the Christians despite quiet diplomatic pressure,” Jonathan Racho, Regional Manager for Africa at International Christian Concern (ICC), an advocacy group and one of the protest’s organizers, said in a statement.
We must raise our voices and demand the Saudis release the prisoners who were imprisoned simply for praying together.”35 Ethiopian Christians were arrested while conducting a prayer meeting late last year in the ultra-conservative Gulf kingdom. They have been detained an held for more than two months.Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that 29 of those arrested are women and were subjected to “arbitrary body cavity searches” while in custody. The Christians had gathered together to pray on December 15 at a private home of one of the Ethiopians, but police responded by raiding the house and arresting the group of Ethiopians, three of those jailed told HRW.“While King Abdullah sets up an international interfaith dialogue center, his police are trampling on the rights of believers of others faiths,” said Christoph Wilcke, senior Middle East researcher for Human Rights Watch. “The Saudi government needs to change its own intolerant ways before it can promote religious dialogue abroad.”In October, Saudi Arabia, together with Austria and Spain, founded the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, located in Vienna, and funded by Saudi Arabia.According to the ICC, which said it has spoken directly with the prisoners, the Christian men and women corroborate the claims that they were violently arrested and currently experience attempts at conversion to Islam while in prison.
The prisoners recently reported that a Muslim preacher was sent by officials to speak to them about converting to Islam, the ICC said, but this could not be independently verified by Bikyamasr.com sources. The preacher reportedly also “vilified Christianity and denigrated the Bible,” the ICC reported.“These are law-abiding Ethiopian citizens. They were simply arrested for practicing their faith at a private home,” Kebadu Belachew, an Ethiopian-American human rights activist and one of the organizers of the rally, told ICC.“The Saudi government should set them free. We are organizing this protest as part of the effort to set them free.”Hmmmm......."Islamophobia?"Read the full story here.

Holder & DOJ Fail to Prosecute Palestinian Terrorists who Kill Americans Overseas

Holder and DOJ Fail to Prosecute Palestinian Terrorists who Kill Americans Overseas.(BP).By Emily Schrader.U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and his Department of Justice don’t have a particularly strong track record of enforcing all existing American law – but the U.S. group Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is pressuring Holder to do his job in relation to Palestinian terrorists with American blood on their hands.Calls for extradition of specific Palestinian terrorists arose after Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who was kidnapped by terror organization Hamas, was released in exchange for Israel’s release of 1,027 Palestinian prisoners. Reports indicate that at least 15 of these 1,027 prisoners are responsible for killing or wounding Americans. Among those 15 criminals is the driver of the 2001 Sbarro pizza bombing, Ahlam Tamimi.
To say Tamimi has expressed no remorse for her actions is almost an understatement. In fact, she has made clear that she would commit acts of terror again. In a recorded interview, Tamimi also grinned and laughed about the fact that her terror attack resulted in the death of 15 civilians, 2 Americans, and 8 children.
The two American victims, by the way, were a 15-year-old named Malki Roth, and a woman named Judith Hayman, pregnant with her first child. Their lives ended suddenly in that pizzeria back in 2001 – while Tamimi now lives as a free woman in Jordan, where she is revered as a hero.
So what could Holder and the DOJ do about it? According to the 1991 Anti-Terror Act, the United States may prosecute those who commit acts of terror overseas against Americans, with written permission from the Attorney General. However, despite the fact that a significant number of American citizens have been victims of terror attacks committed by Palestinians, the United States has to date never extradited any terrorists.
This is especially bewildering in light of the fact that there is an entire division within the U.S. Justice Department specifically tasked with tracking down perpetrators of these types of attacks, as even its name makes crystal clear: The Office of Justice for Victims of Overseas Terrorism.
In a press release discussing this matter, ZOA states, “If the Justice Department does not go after the Palestinian Arab terrorists who were recently released and now living in freedom, then it is sending a dangerous and appalling message to victims and their families… that the United States does not value the victims and their families enough to ensure that these criminals are punished and justice is served.”
Serving justice is Holder’s job. By ignoring these attacks, he and his DOJ do the families of the American victims of Palestinian terror a great disservice. Why is the American Attorney General so unwilling to enforce American law? The ZOA is precisely right about this: It is not only in the interest of justice to extradite these terrorists, but also in the interest of U.S. foreign policy, in order to demonstrate that the United States will stand up for the rights of American citizens wherever they are. That is an assurance all Americans should not have to question.
However, seeing as how Holder seems to have a difficult time holding anyone accountable within the United States (Fast and Furious, anyone?), it would be quite surprising to see him take appropriate action for the disturbing acts of violence outside the United States.Hmmmmm...........Perhaps to busy counting the houses Israelis build?Read the full story here.

"Dances With Nukes"?Former Manitoba First Nation chief asks Iran for help with a human rights matter

"Dances With Nukes"?Former Manitoba First Nation chief asks Iran for help with a human rights matter.(Yahoo).When you need assistance on a human rights matter, where do you turn? The courts, the Human Rights Board, the United Nations? How about Iran?A former Manitoba First Nations chief who says the federal Aboriginal Affairs department orchestrated a "coup" against him is turning to the Iranians for help.
According to APTN News, the former chief of Roseau River is upset over the Aboriginal Affairs department's decision to postpone a referendum on how the First Nation chooses its leaders.
Roseau River band members were to vote this week on whether to elect a band government based on a custom code or one under the Indian Act. Terry Nelson said the department's decision to cancel the plebiscite was aimed at ensuring he could not return to power."This was a coup at Roseau River," Nelson told APTN."They are not allowing people to make any decisions…there is no democracy."
Nelson told QMI Agency that he intends to lead a "caravan of cars" to the Iranian embassy in Ottawa. He plans to thank Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his condemnation of Canada's treatment of aboriginal people and to ask him for help in bringing attention to the issue of missing and murdered women."I will go to Iran if they want me to address the issue of economic sanctions and what is happening with our Indigenous peoples in Canada," said Nelson."The chiefs continue to go meet with [Prime Minister Stephen Harper] and don't do anything more than leave their people suffering."This is the second time in as many weeks that Canadian chiefs have called out to countries with dubious human rights records.Last week, a First Nations group from British Columbia wrote an open letter to the Chinese government, suggesting that the Canadian government was violating aboriginal communities' human rights."We are writing to you to request that you raise our human rights concerns with Canada's Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. We understand that you will meet with him in China this week," noted the letter signed by five chiefs."From previous public reports we know that Prime Minister Harper always challenges your country on the human rights record. Open dialogue around human rights is a very positive way to create change."Read the full story here.

Get Ready for the Obama ‘Monarchy’.

Get Ready for the Obama ‘Monarchy’.(BG).By Ben Shapiro.Yesterday, White House Domestic Policy Council member Cecilia Munoz appeared on “The Bill Press Show.” There, she explained that Congress was filled with “roadblocks,” and that the budget wasn’t going anywhere fast. But she added that “this President has shown that he’s not afraid to make administrative changes where he can when Congress doesn’t act.” She said something similar on NPR, stating, “You’ve also heard the president say that in areas where we’re struggling to get legislation through because we don’t have the partners we need … this president is going to do what he can to move the ball forward for people even in the absence of Congressional action.”
This message was echoed by Former Attorney General Ed Meese of the Heritage Foundation, who explained that Obama had “disdain for Congress,” and that his use of “czars” brings his Administration “as close to a monarchy as since the days of George III.”The left is no longer hiding its desire for dictatorial executive authority. Why? Because it all fits into the campaign strategy. Obama will run against Congress, and make the case that even if a Republican Congress is re-elected, he will be able to run roughshod over them. Obama’s centralization of power is the key to his re-election effort. He must take credit for any gains and blame any losses on an intransigent Congress.Hmmmm........Obama Blames "Founding Fathers" For Making It Difficult For Him To "Bring Change"But..."I will keep plotting"!Read and see (Video) the full story here.
