  • White House to delay the release of 'gruesome' bin Laden death photos due to Muslim 'sensitivities'.(DailyMail).The White House has delayed the release of photographs showing Osama bin Laden's body. White House officials are afraid that releasing the images, described as 'gruesome' and thought to show the dead al-Qaeda leader with a massive head wound, would offend 'sensitivities' in the Muslim world. It had been previously thought President Barack Obama had decided to release at least one photo showing Osama Bin Laden shortly after he was killed by U.S. Navy SEALs.The news came as a Taliban spokesman demanded to see photographic evidence of the assassination. The White House says the photograph of a dead Osama bin Laden is 'gruesome' and that 'it could be inflammatory' if released. White House press secretary Jay Carney said the White House is mulling whether to make the photo public, but he said officials are concerned about the 'sensitivity' of doing so.Senior military officials confirmed to CNN there were three sets of pictures of bin Laden. The first set was taken during the raid itself, and is thought to show two dead brothers, and bin Laden's dead teenage son.The second, and most 'identifiable' set of pictures were taken of his mutilated body at an Afghan airbase. These are the most troubling set of images as they show 'massive open head wounds' - but are the most clear pictures of bin Laden's face. The third set were taken aboard the USS Carl Vinson, and show a washed and shrouded bin Laden being lowered into his watery grave.Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said in a statement emailed to journalists: 'This news is only coming from one side, from Obama's office, and America has not shown any evidence or proof to support this claim. 'On the other side, our sources close to Osama bin Laden have not confirmed or denied the news.'Until there is news from sources close to Osama bin Laden it will be too early to provide any reaction.'Officials are also considering whether to release a video showing Osama Bin Laden being buried at sea.The dead terror chief was given an Islamic burial in the North Arabian Sea in a bid to stop his fanatical followers turning his final resting place into a shrine. An official said preparations for the al Qaeda leader's burial lasted nearly an hour. His body was washed aboard the USS Carl Vinson before being covered in a white sheet and religious remarks translated into Arabic by a native speaker were read over the corpse.'The burial of bin Laden's remains was done in strict conformance with Islamist precepts and practices,' said John Brennan, U.S. President Barack Obama's top counter-terrorism adviser.Preparations for burial began at 1:10 am EST (0510 GMT) and were completed at 2 am EST. His corpse was lowered toward the sea on one of the aircraft carrier's elevators.'The body was placed in a weighted bag. A military officer read prepared religious remarks which were translated into Arabic by a native speaker,' the U.S. official said.'After the words were complete, the body was placed on a prepared flat board, tipped up, whereupon the deceased's body eased into the sea.'Muslim clerics are predicting revenge attacks against American targets because of the way the government decided to dispose of the leader's body.A wide range of Islamic scholars interpreted it as a humiliating disregard for the standard Muslim practice of placing the body in a grave with the head pointed toward the holy city of Mecca.Sea burials can be allowed, they said, but only in special cases where the death occurred aboard a ship far from the coast. But Omar Bakri Mohammed, a radical cleric in Lebanon, said it should not have been done in this way: 'The Americans want to humiliate Muslims through this burial, and I don't think this is in the interest of the U.S. administration.'The haste has also been questioned, as the U.S. has not always observed the 24-hour rule for Muslim burials. In 2003 the bodies of Saddam Hussein’s sons Uday and Qusay were embalmed and held for 11 days before they were released for burial.Mohammed al-Qubaisi, Dubai's grand mufti, said about bin Laden's burial, said: 'They can say they buried him at sea, but they cannot say they did it according to Islam. If the family does not want him, it's really simple in Islam: You dig up a grave anywhere, even on a remote island, you say the prayers and that's it.'Sea burials are permissible for Muslims in extraordinary circumstances. This is not one of them.'Hmmmm.....Just can't stop 'appeasing'his Muslim Brothers?I thought he said "Osama Bin Laden doesn't represent Islam"?Read the full story here.

  • Osama bin Laden dead: Pervez Musharraf jogged in area during military training.(Telegraph).Mr Musharraf said that when he was training in the military he used to go running right where the world's most wanted man was found. Bin Laden was discovered in a compound which was custom-built in 2005 a few hundred yards from the Pakistan Military Academy, described as Pakistan's Sandhurst or West Point. The city, Abbottabad, is home to thousands of soldiers and is under government control. "It surprises me it was next to the Pakistan military academy," Mr Musharraf said. "The location is next to the place where I used to run nine miles, en route, maybe passing in front of the house. That is surprising." Osama Bin Laden was probably hiding in Abbottabad  for the last 5 years,Hmmm....In 2006, King Abdullah's visited Pakistan for the first time as King. Hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis lined the road from the airport to welcome the Saudi King. President Musharraf honored King Abdullah by conferring upon him Pakistan’s highest civil award Nishan-e-Pakistan.On 21 Jan 2007, King Abdullah conferred the King Abdul Aziz Medallion, the Kingdom’s top honor, on Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf during a ceremony at his palace in Riyadh. He became the first Pakistani leader ever to receive this honor.Read the full story here.

Mediating to see the grounds of a possible dialogue with al-Fatah, Davutoğlu met with Hamas leader Khalid Mashaal in Damascus in order to bring the two rival leaders to Istanbul. The plan to bring the leaders of al-Fatah and Hamas together in Istanbul was removed from the agenda after the two Palestinian groups announced a unity pact in Cairo through mediation of Egypt last week.Read the full story here.

  • Israel - MK Eldad: No doubt Obama is greater threat to Israel than Osama was.(JPost).MKs and officials on the Right expressed concern on Monday that Israel would end up paying the price for the American decision to assassinate al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.MKs questioned why Israel is routinely condemned by the world for assassinating mass murderers and terrorists, while the bin Laden assassination has been celebrated internationally. They also asked why an international leadership that has not criticized the Palestinian leadership for making a deal with Hamas, has universally praised the killing of the leader of al-Qaida.They warned that Israel could be targeted by Islamic fundamentalist groups avenging bin Laden’s death, and suggested that US President Barack Obama could use the assassination as an excuse to pressure Israel.“Israel will need to take action to prevent Obama from appeasing the Muslim world at our expense,” National Union MK Aryeh Eldad said. “Bin Laden was never a direct threat to Israel. Ahmadinejad, Arafat and our other real enemies didn’t need bin Laden for inspiration. There is no doubt that Obama is a greater threat to Israel than Osama was.”Eldad predicted that the assassination would only boost Obama’s political support temporarily, and then his popularity would fall again due to the economy in the US, and other reasons. Other frequent critics of Obama on the Israeli Right found themselves issuing rare praise for the president.“The elimination of bin Laden proves that even a president who carries out totally mistaken foreign and security policies can also make correct decisions, and on those few occasions he should be commended without reservation,” said Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria Chairman Danny Dayan.Deputy Negev and Galilee Development Minister Ayoub Kara (Likud) said “I am Israel’s sharpest critic of Obama, and I don’t want him to be in power, but I could tolerate Obama as long as he targets people like Osama. Obama in the past gave breathing space and support to the terrorists due to his naivete, but if he returns America to [former president George W.] Bush’s policies of fighting terror, I have no problem with him.”Kara suggested marking every Yom Hashoah by killing an international terrorist.Likud MK Danny Dannon added that he hoped the American administration realized that the fight against terror was far from over.“I am worried about the festivities at Times Square and the White House, because we in Israel have learned the hard way that fighting terror requires a daily struggle and not just one knockout punch,” Dannon said. “The president should focus his energy on targeting terrorists who threaten the US and Israel – and not on an ill-fated attempt to implement an unrealistic Middle East peace plan based on wishful thinking.Hmmmm....I fear they're right Pakistan already a hotbed of terrorisme and Islamic extremisme could become the biggest threat to the world because of their nuclear arms stock pile!Read the full story here.

  • Obama's 'Peaceplan' partners:Fatah military wing calls Bin Laden killing "catastrophe".(Pallwatch). The military wing of Fatah, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, published a long statement in reaction to the killing of Osama bin Laden calling it a "catastrophe." They said that those who killed Bin Laden were "gangs of heretics."Fatah's military wing promises that the Jihad fighters will not be deterred in their path and ends its announcement vowing: "We say to the American and Israeli occupier: the [Islamic] nation which produced leaders who changed the course of history through their Jihad... is capable of restoring the glory of Islam and the flag of Allah's oneness, Allah willing."Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is the chairman of the Fatah movement, whose military wing released this statement. The announcement continued: 'We say to the American and Israeli occupier: the [Islamic] nation which produced leaders who changed the course of history through their Jihad and their endurance, is a nation that is capable of supplying an abundance of new blood into the arteries of the resistance and is capable of restoring the glory of Islam and the flag of Allahs oneness, Allah willing.'"Hmmmm.....Just Keep financing them Barack HUSSEIN Obama!Read the full story here.

  • Obama Regime White House doesn't show up to House probe into its lack of transparency.(WashingtonExaminer).The Republican-led House Energy and Commerce's subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations is holding a hearing on the Obama White House's lack of transparency, but the White House did not send any representatives to testify, despite a GOP request.Though President Obama vowed to run a transparent administration and to bar lobbyists, the reality has been quite different.Republicans on the committee highlighted reports that lobbyists started deregistering from the official lobbying disclosure system in 2008 as Obama spoke of not allowing them to hold positions in the White House, and the deregistration rate spiked in 2009 once Obama announced the policy. Meanwhile, the committee said, that "White House staff have purposely and repeatedly circumvented ... visitor logs by meeting with lobbyists at Caribou Coffee and other locations outside of the White House."Subcommittee chairman Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., also noted that the Obama administration granted 32 waivers from the lobbying ban.One of the witnesses, Anne Weismann, is the chief counsel of the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a transparency group that had to sue to the Obama administration to get it to release visitor logs that are supposed to be released under the Freedom of Information Act.President Obama has said that, "The Freedom of Information Act should be administered with a clear presumption: In the face of doubt, openness prevails." Yet the committee argued, "Unfortunately, like so many of the President's other transparency policies, the policy has no teeth -- there is no system in place to monitor compliance and no enforcement mechanism in place to penalize agencies that adopt a different presumption."Weissman said that what concerns her the most is what's going on at the agency level. In addition to Weissman, the committee is hearing testimony from Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch and John Wonderlich, policy director Sunlight Foundation. But the Obama administration did not send a representative to testify as Republicans had requested. In the White House's defense, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., said that because the GOP only gave six days notice and wouldn't rescheduled the hearing, it was understandable that administration officials would have conflicts that prevented them from appearing before the committee.Hmmmm....An arrogant dictatorship, ignoring the rule of law.Read the full story here.

  • Bin Laden's daughter, 12, sees her father shot as it emerges human shield was NOT wife.(DailyMail).Osama Bin Laden's 12-year-old daughter was present when U.S. forces shot and killed her father at a Pakistani compound, it has emerged.New details about the deadly Special Forces raid in Abbottabad emerged as U.S. officials backtracked on a claim made earlier that a wife of Osama Bin Laden acted as a human shield in an unsuccessful bid to save the Al Qaeda leader's life.Officials first said that Bin Laden had stood behind a younger woman - identified in some sources as one of his wives - while firing at U.S. troops with an AK-47.But as fresh details emerged that up to 19 other people had been living inside the house, it was today unclear which woman had been killed.Officials from Pakistan's main intelligence agency, the ISI, today gave new details about the operation. An ISI official told the BBC 17 or 18 people were inside the compound at the time of the attack. One of those in the building was a daughter of Bin Laden's, thought to be 12, who saw her father fatally shot by U.S. forces, the official claimed.Further details about the raid were revealed as U.S. officials corrected earlier remarks which suggested a wife of Bin Laden's had died after being used as a human shield.Initially, counter-terrorism official John Brennan had said. 'There was family at that compound, and there was a female who was, in fact, in the line of fire that reportedly was used as a shield to shield Bin Laden from the incoming fire.'However, a different White House official said that account had turned out not to be the case. Bin Laden's wife was injured but not killed in the assault.Mr Brennan has since told Fox News that, to his knowledge, Bin Laden's wife was injured rather than killed, adding it was unclear whether she and another female in the Abbottabad compound had been trying to attack U.S. personnel.'One individual woman was killed, and it appears she was the wife of one of the facilitators who lived in the building with him,' Mr Brennan said. His remarks came after the U.S. website Politico quoted an unnamed senior officials as saying: ''Two women were shot here. It sounds like their fates were mixed up.'The anonymous official was quoted as adding: 'This is hours old and the full facts are still being ascertained as those involved are debriefed.'U.S. officials have said a small U.S. strike team, dropped by helicopter to bin Laden's hide-out near the Pakistani capital of Islamabad under cover of night, shot the A; Qaeda leader dead with bullets to the chest and head. He did not return fire.John Brennan said earlier yesterday that a female at the compound in Pakistan who 'was, in fact, in the line of fire that reportedly was used as a shield to shield bin Laden from the incoming fire'Pressed on reports the woman shot dead by Navy SEALs during a firefight at a compound in Abbottabad in Pakistan was one of Bin Laden's four wives, Brennan had told the White House briefing: 'That's my understanding.'Brennan had said it was not entirely clear 'whether or not Bin Laden or the son or whatever put her there or she put herself there' or whether the Al Qaeda chief himself fired rounds during the exchange.Bin Laden was killed by a bullet to the head and senior US officials said two brothers believed to be his couriers and one of the Al Qaeda chief's adult sons also perished in the raid.Confusion about the identities of those killed in the raid came despite the attack being viewed live by U.S. president Barack Obama and other senior officials.Secret photos of the dead Bin Laden seen by U.S. officials show a precision kill shot above his left eye, it was claimed today.According to the U.S. account, the assault team on the compound in Abbottabad came away with hard drives, DVDs, documents and more that might tip U.S. intelligence to Al Qaeda's operational details and perhaps lead the manhunt to the presumed next-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahri. 'We're moving with great dispatch to mine that' material for insights into terrorist plots that may be in the works and for clues as to the location of senior al-Qaida officials, said John Brennan today.Mr Brennan also asked today the question that was reverberating around the world: 'How did Osama bin Laden stay at that compound for six years or so and be undetected?'He went on: 'We have many, many questions about this. And I know Pakistani officials do as well.'Mr Brennan said Pakistani officials were trying to determine 'whether there were individuals within the Pakistani government or military intelligence services who were knowledgeable'.Hmmmm.....This could only lead to one conclusion if the Pak Gov helped, it's NOT Al-Qaida It's Islam !Read the full story here.

  • Turkey Destroying Armenian, Greek, Assyrian Cultural Artifacts.(Aina).Armenia has to intensify activities in relevant international organizations to draw attention to Turkey's demolition of non-Turkic cultural heritage, a Turkish Studies expert stated. At news conference in Yerevan, Ruben Melkonyan cited as an example Turkey's transforming a Kars-based Armenian church into a mosque, as well as a failure to point out Armenian origin of cultural monuments in Western Armenia. As the expert stressed, Turkey has similar attitude to all non-Muslim artifacts, specifically Assyrian and Greek ones. According to him, Turkey is using the other nations' cultural heritage and tourist attractions to gain its ends, setting monuments, allegedly commemorating "victims of Turkish genocide perpetrated by Armenians" right next to them.Read the full story here.

"ANC Australia takes this opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to work with the Australian Hellenic Council and the Assyrian Universal Alliance Australia to advocate for the recognition of the Armenian, Hellenic and Assyrian Genocides by the Federal government of Australia."Hmmmm....Erdogan "Muslims don't commit Genocide".Read the full story here.

  • Pakistan says Osama family members under arrest, and defends inaction on al-Qaeda.(Al-Arabia).Pakistan authorities said on Tuesday that they have arrested members of Osama Bin Laden’s family. They were taken into custody at Bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, which US Special Forces raided on Sunday, killing the Al-Qaeda leader.Sources told Al Arabiya that some of those arrested had been wounded. The US Navy SEALs who killed Bin Laden spirited away his body, and gave the terrorist a sea burial in the North Arabian Sea on Sunday, observing Muslim last rites.Earlier on Tuesday, President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan defended his country against accusations it did not do enough to track down Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden and acknowledged that his security forces were left out of the US operation to kill him.“Although the events of Sunday were not a joint operation, a decade of cooperation and partnership between the United States and Pakistan led up to the elimination of Osama Bin Laden as a continuing threat to the civilized world,” Mr. Zardari said in an op-ed article for The Washington Post.Underneath a headline reading “Pakistan did its part,” he said: “We in Pakistan take some satisfaction that our early assistance in identifying an Al-Qaeda courier ultimately led to this day.”But the Pakistani president provided no detailed explanation on how Mr. bin Laden managed to live for years undetected in Abbottabad, a hillside retreat popular with retired Pakistani generals just an hour’s drive from Islamabad, the country’s capital.
“He was not anywhere we had anticipated he would be, but now he is gone,” Mr. Zardari wrote. It was the first public comment by any Pakistani civilian or military leader on the raid by a secret US assault team on Mr. Bin Laden’s compound on Sunday night.Pakistan’s main Taliban faction threatened to attack Pakistan and the US, calling them “the enemies of Islam.”“If he (Bin Laden) has become a martyr, it is a great victory for us because martyrdom is the aim of all of us,” spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told AFP by phone.Vows to avenge Al-Qaeda leader’s death appeared quickly in Islamist militant forums, a key means by which Al-Qaeda leaders have passed on information. “God’s revenge on you, you Roman dog, God’s revenge on you crusaders,” one forum member wrote, according to Reuters. The Obama administration was weighing whether to release a photo of Bin Laden’s body as proof that he had been killed. There is also a video of the sea burial but it was not clear if it would be released, a US official said.US helicopters entered Pakistani airspace making use of blind spots in the radar coverage due to hilly terrain. US helicopters’ undetected flight into Pakistan was also facilitated by the mountainous terrain, efficacious use of latest technology and “map of the earth” flying techniques. It may not be realistic to draw an analogy between this undefended civilian area and some military / security installations which have elaborate local defense arrangements. On receipt of information regarding the incident, PAF scrambled its jets within minutes. This has been corroborated by the White House Advisor Mr. John Brennan who while replying to a question said, “We didn’t contact the Pakistanis until after all of our people, and all of our aircraft were out of Pakistani airspace. At the time, the Pakistanis were reacting to an incident that they knew was taking place in Abbottabad. Questions have also been asked about the whereabouts of the family members of Osama bin Laden. They are all in safe hands and being looked after in accordance with law. Some of them needing medical care are under treatment in the best possible facilities. As per policy, they will be handed over to their countries of origin.Notwithstanding the above, the Government of Pakistan expresses its deep concerns and reservations on the manner in which the Government of the United States carried out this operation without prior information or authorization from the Government of Pakistan. This event of unauthorized unilateral action cannot be taken as a rule. The Government of Pakistan further affirms that such an event shall not serve as a future precedent for any state, including the US.Hmmmm.....We did not inform the Pakistani Government cause we did not want to run the risk of Osama Bin Laden being warned?Read the full story here.

  • Flashback 2008 - Obama's Energy Sec. Wants Gasoline Prices To Be Three Times Higher.(Allamericanblogger).Gasoline where I am is back down to $1.49 a gallon. The national average right now is about $1.65 a gallon. The Eco-Marxists aren’t happy with the price of gasoline being low. If you remember during the primaries, even Barack Obama said the price wasn’t bad, it just rose too fast.To the green mafia, the price of gasoline should be so high that people can’t drive to work and have to rely on public transportation. And if the market won’t keep the price high, government will.Steven Chu is Obama’s nominee for Energy Secretary. Here’s what he thinks about gas prices:In a sign of one major internal difference, Mr. Chu has called for gradually ramping up gasoline taxes over 15 years to coax consumers into buying more-efficient cars and living in neighborhoods closer to work.“Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” Mr. Chu, who directs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in September. The price of petrol in Europe right now is more than three times the price of gasoline in America. So, given Mr. Chu’s preference, instead of paying $1.49 per gallon, I would be paying $4.50 a gallon. Instead of a tank of gas costing me $17 and some change, it would take $54 out of my wallet. For the record that would be $37 in taxes for each tank of gas I buy.Believe it or not, this is what the environmentalists voted for. This is exactly what they want from an Obama government. This is the change they believed in, and we can expect more of the same across the board. One last quote from Mr. Chu to illustrate my point:“Coal is my worst nightmare.”What do you think will happen to energy prices under him? Hmmmm.....A dictator forcing his way upon 'We the people'.Read the full story here.

  • Army blows 11,000-foot hole in Missouri levee to save town from flooding.(DailyMail).Meanwhile there is more rain on the way.At the moment a mighty explosion lit up the night sky, the Mississippi River gushed through the hole in an action which was to save the homes of thousands. The 11,000-foot hole in a Missouri levee was intentionally blown open by the Army Corps of Engineers.Even as the corps' carried out its bid to protect Cairo, Illinois, floodwaters were rising downriver, including in Memphis, Tennessee. And the breach in the Birds Point levee wasn't expected to ease those flooding concerns. The Army Corps exploded the Birds Point levee after nightfall Monday, sacrificing 130,000 acres of rich farmland and about 100 homes in Missouri to spare the Illinois town of 2,800 residents that is at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.Farmers and residents of Wyatt, close to the levee, gathered just after dawn Tuesday to survey the several feet of murky brown waters inside. A small cluster of cattle stood grazing on the slope of the levee, and National Guard soldiers patrolled the area.Travis Williams, 34, a farmer who owns more than 1,000 acres now under water, said his home is safe because it is on 'the good side of the levee'.He said: 'It's a life changing event. My heart goes out to all the farmers who lost their land and homes.'Billy and Tammy Suggs, who live in Wyatt, opened up the town's tiny city hall so people would have a place to gather and mourn together as the blast occurred Monday night. They said it was a lot stronger than expected, knocking out windows in several homes.'We went around putting boards up to keep the rain out,' Billy Suggs said.Read the full story here.

  • WARNING !Warnings over Osama bin Laden malware scams.(NZHerald).Computer security experts have warned that online scammers have already started to exploit the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden to spread malware."Watch out for the links you're likely to come across in email or on social networking sites offering you additional coverage of this newsworthy event," Paul Ducklin of computer security firm Sophos said in a blog post."Many of the links you see will be perfectly legitimate links," Ducklin said. "But at least some are almost certain to be dodgy links, deliberately distributed to trick you into hostile internet territory."By late Monday, US time, researchers at US computer security firm McAfee were seeing email messages as well as updates at social network Facebook and microblogging service Twitter baited with promises of pictures or news of bin Laden."I suppose this was just inevitable," David Marcus of McAfee said in an online message.Ploys included a bogus promise of a look at a video debunking reports of his killing by showing the 9/11 mastermind holding up a newspaper with today's date, McAfee reported.Another trick was to promise graphic pictures of bin Laden's corpse.Mike Lennon of SecurityWeek said cybercriminals "typically use very attractive headlines to encourage users to click links and direct them to malware infected Web pages.""Links are already beginning to spread across Facebook, similar to what happened following news of the recent earthquake in Japan," Lennon said."Users should be cautious of spam containing links to photos, videos and other information that sounds remarkably interesting on bin Laden's death."Users also need to be cautious of tweets through Twitter, and Facebook posts, as cybercriminals gear up to attract unsuspecting traffic to spread malware," he continued.Cybercriminals frequently use high-profile news events in a bid to entrap unsuspecting victims.MFS : If you are in doubt of a website you can always check it by submitting it to Norton Safe web for instant verification: here.Read the full story here.

  • Behind the Hunt for Bin Laden.(NYTimes).WASHINGTON — For years, the agonizing search for Osama bin Laden kept coming up empty. Then last July, Pakistanis working for the Central Intelligence Agency drove up behind a white Suzuki navigating the bustling streets near Peshawar, Pakistan, and wrote down the car’s license plate. The man in the car was Bin Laden’s most trusted courier, and over the next month C.I.A. operatives would track him throughout central Pakistan. Ultimately, administration officials said, he led them to a sprawling compound at the end of a long dirt road and surrounded by tall security fences in a wealthy hamlet 35 miles from the Pakistani capital.

On a moonless night eight months later, 79 American commandos in four helicopters descended on the compound, the officials said. Shots rang out. A helicopter stalled and would not take off. Pakistani authorities, kept in the dark by their allies in Washington, scrambled forces as the American commandos rushed to finish their mission and leave before a confrontation. Of the five dead, one was a tall, bearded man with a bloodied face and a bullet in his head. A member of the Navy Seals snapped his picture with a camera and uploaded it to analysts who fed it into a facial recognition program. And just like that, history’s most expansive, expensive and exasperating manhunt was over. The inert frame of Osama bin Laden, America’s enemy No. 1, was placed in a helicopter for burial at sea, never to be seen or feared again. A nation that spent a decade tormented by its failure to catch the man responsible for nearly 3,000 fiery deaths in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001, at long last had its sense of finality, at least in this one difficult chapter. The code name for Bin Laden was “Geronimo.” The president and his advisers watched Leon E. Panetta, the C.I.A. director, on a video screen, narrating from his agency’s headquarters across the Potomac River what was happening in faraway Pakistan. “They’ve reached the target,” he said. Minutes passed. “We have a visual on Geronimo,” he said. A few minutes later: “Geronimo EKIA.” Enemy Killed In Action. There was silence in the Situation Room. Read the full story here.

  • Pakistan's bin Laden Connection Is Probed.(WSJ).Obama administration officials said Monday they would probe whether Pakistani authorities helped al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden stay in hiding for years, one day after he was killed by U.S. special forces at an outsize mansion complex located in the same city as Pakistan's top military academy.Emerging details of the U.S. raid immediately raised questions about how bin Laden, the most wanted man in American history, had eluded a manhunt that dates back more than a decade. The al Qaeda leader was cornered not in a remote border hideout but in a three-story mansion complex in Abbottabad, a city roughly 40 miles north of Islamabad that is thick with active and retired Pakistani military personnel.Senior U.S. officials said Monday that bin Laden clearly had support from within Pakistan that allowed him to live there.
At a news briefing, President Obama's top counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, credited Pakistan with capturing and killing more terrorists inside its borders than any other country, part of White House efforts since the strike to play down unhappiness with Pakistan. But he also said it was "inconceivable" that bin Laden didn't have a significant "support system" there.A number of U.S. lawmakers on Monday said Washington should re-evaluate its multibillion-dollar aid package for Pakistan because of the suspicions that at least some in the government may have played a role in sheltering the fugitive al Qaeda leader."It is very intriguing: How could bin Laden be living in the area escaping the military intelligence?" said Khurshid Alam, a retired army officer residing in the town.
"At best, the Pakistanis look totally incompetent," said C. Christine Fair, an assistant professor and Pakistan expert at Georgetown University. "At worst, they look completely complicit."As a result of the discovery, U.S. officials and analysts say there is a significant risk that the U.S.-Pakistani alliance spawned in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks could fracture. The stakes for both sides are enormous. Despite the weekend's success, nuclear-armed Pakistan is still rife with Islamist militants who threaten both their own government and the West; most had only a tangential relationship with bin Laden and are unlikely to be affected by his death.Still, unhappiness was clear on Capitol Hill. Sen. Carl Levin, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said Monday that the Pakistani army and intelligence arm have "a lot of questions to answer" given the location of the bin Laden house and the length of time he was there.Hmmmmm....Perhaps they only thought "we will stand with our Muslim Brothers"?Showing that it isn't about Al-Qaida but about ISLAM!Read the full story here.

  • Salman Rushdie: Pakistan's Deadly Game.(DailyBeast).Are we really supposed to believe that Pakistan didn’t know Osama bin Laden was living there for five years? Salman Rushdie on why it’s time to declare the country a terrorist state. Many of us didn’t believe in the image of bin Laden as a wandering Old Man of the Mountains, living on plants and insects in an inhospitable cave somewhere on the porous Pakistan-Afghan border. An extremely big man, 6-foot 4-inches tall in a country where the average male height is around 5-foot 8, wandering around unnoticed for ten years while half the satellites above the earth were looking for him? It didn’t make sense. Bin Laden was born filthy rich and died in a rich man’s house, which he had painstakingly built to the highest specifications. The U.S. administration confesses it was “shocked” by the elaborate nature of the compound. We had heard—I certainly had, from more than one Pakistani journalist—that Mullah Omar was (is) being protected in a safe house run by the powerful and feared Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) somewhere in the vicinity of the city of Quetta in Baluchistan, and it seemed likely that bin Laden, too, would acquire a home of his own.In the aftermath of the raid on Abbottabad, all the big questions need to be answered by Pakistan. The old flim-flam (“Who, us? We knew nothing!”) just isn’t going to wash, must not be allowed to wash by countries such as the United States that have persisted in treating Pakistan as an ally even though they have long known about the Pakistani double game—its support, for example, for the Haqqani network that has killed hundreds of Americans in Afghanistan.Pakistan’s neighbor India, badly wounded by the November 26, 2008, terrorist attacks on Mumbai, is already demanding answers. As far as the anti-Indian jihadist groups are concerned—Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad—Pakistan’s support for such groups, its willingness to provide them with safe havens, its encouragement of such groups as a means of waging a proxy war in Kashmir and, of course, in Mumbai—is established beyond all argument. In recent years these groups have been reaching out to the so-called Pakistani Taliban to form new networks of violence, and it is worth noting that the first threats of retaliation for bin Laden’s death have been made by the Pakistani Taliban, not by any al Qaeda spokesman.India, as always Pakistan’s unhealthy obsession, is the reason for the double game. Pakistan is alarmed by the rising Indian influence in Afghanistan, and fears that an Afghanistan cleansed of the Taliban would be an Indian client state, thus sandwiching Pakistan between two hostile countries. The paranoia of Pakistan about India’s supposed dark machinations should never be underestimated. There is not very much evidence that the Pakistani power elite is likely to come to its senses any time soon. Osama bin Laden’s compound provides further proof of Pakistan’s dangerous folly. As the world braces for the terrorists’ response to the death of their leader, it should also demand that Pakistan give satisfactory answers to the very tough questions it must now be asked. If it does not provide those answers, perhaps the time has come to declare it a terrorist state and expel it from the comity of nations.Hmmmm....But the root of the problem is not Al-Qaida ,but Islam ,the 'Great religion' as Obama calls it!Read the full story here.

  • Bin Laden – the conspiracy?World Wide Web brims over with conspiracy theories regarding assassination of al-Qaeda leader.(Ynet).A mere day after US President Barack Obama announced that al-Qaeda leader and arch-terrorist Osama bin Laden has been killed by US Special Forces in Pakistan, and the World Wide Web is gushing with conspiracy theories, fed mostly by the White House statement that he was swiftly buried at sea, with nothing but reassurance from the US government that his body had been positively identified.US President Barack Obama, along with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and top National Security staff, watched a live feed of the operation. The footage of the battle however, has not been released and was described as "gory," feeding frenzied rumors even further. French website JSSNews, for example, found a striking resemblance between the Abbottabad compound used by bin Laden and the map of none other than the State of Israel.According to the Daily Telegraph, social media website Facebook already has several groups bearing titles such as "Osama bin Laden NOT DEAD"; and the blogosphere is humming with suppositions that the US government either faked the raid, or still has custody of the body. Many of the theories doubting bin Laden's death look at another dictator for support, saying that given the extent of coverage given to executions of Saddam Hussein and his sons, whose bodies were – as one Facebook wall said – "paraded around to prove they were dead," the method in which the body of the al-Qaeda leader was disposed of simply makes no sense.Meanwhile, Alex Jones, a US radio host, claimed that the US government had concocted the killing to justify a security crackdown; while others believe that bin Laden has been dead for years and some claimed that the killing was simply an elaborate part of Barack Obama's re-election plan. The "presidential campaign" theory was given extra credence, according to some, by the fact that the US president's announcement of bin Laden's death cut into a broadcast of Donald Trump's reality show "Celebrity Apprentice."Read the full story here.

  • Final remarks by Geert Wilders at his trial in Amsterdam , May 2nd, 2011.(KleinVerzet).Mister President, members of the Court. I recently tried to have Your Honors removed from the case for your refusal to register a statement of perjury against Mr. Hendriks. My challenge of the court did not succeed. I must accept that. I do wish to say, however, that I was more annoyed by another declaration of the President of the Court on the day of the official hearing of Mr. Jansen. He said that I was a free man, that I could not be compared to Mr. Nekschot because I was a free man.Mister President, you could not be more wrong. For almost seven years now, I have not been a free man. I lost my freedom in 2004. I live as a prisoner with guards without you having convicted me. Without protection I am even less certain of my life than I am now. Mister President, you would not use the words “free man” if you could change places with me for one week...
This trial is not merely a political trial. It is also an unjust trial. When you look at the order of the court (to prosecute me) it is clear that the verdict has already been passed. The court has issued an order to prosecute me in which it concludes that I am guilty of incitement to hatred. The court has concluded that my statements as such are of an insulting nature. The court has concluded that I am guilty of the most serious charge: the incitement to hatred and discrimination. The court has concluded that it expects that the criminal prosecution will indeed lead to a conviction. Mister President, members of the court, the court has already done your job. Long before I was brought to trial before you, I was found guilty and was condemned. Hence my right to a just trial has been violated.

Alas, this is but the tip of the iceberg. Without any doubt, the judges who presided this case have conveyed a semblance of partiality. I have been denied 15 of the 18 witnesses whom I wanted to call. Every high representative of the judicial power has given his view on this case, and often to my disadvantage. But Counselor Schalken was the worst.Mr. President, members of the court, stop this unfair, political trial. Respect our Dutch freedoms. If this trial continues, despite the fact that the principle of the presumption of innocence has been violated, and if I am convicted, not only my freedom will be infringed, but also the right of all Dutch people to hear the truth. The 19th century black American politician Frederick Douglass, the son of a slave, put it as follows: “To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker.”Mr. President, members of the court, I end with a quote of George Washington, who said: “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.” Mr. President, members of the court, do not let this warning become reality. Stop this charade, this political trial where I have already been convicted by the court even before I was a suspect. Stop it now. If you do so, and I passionately hope you will, this will benefit freedom of speech as well as the respectability of the judicial power and the rule of law. Hmmmm.....A perfect present day example of the Sovjet era Political trials.Read the full story here.

  • Arabs Riot in Jerusalem Over Bin Laden's Demise, Hamas Angry.(ArutzSheva).While most of the free world praised the United States for having rid it of arch-terrorist Bin Laden, the Hamas organization - which has recently all but merged with Fatah, headed by Mahmoud Abbas - condemned the act. Similarly, Arabs in the village of Silwan, adjacent to the City of David neighborhood in Jerusalem, rioted Monday night in protest over the elimination of Osama Bin Laden. The rioters threw stones at police and attempted to block roads. The Gaza-based website Al Qassam reports that Gaza leader Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the local Hamas chapter that runs Gaza, told reporters on Monday that Bin Laden was an "Arab holy warrior."Meeting with journalists in his office in Gaza City, Haniyeh said, "If this news [of Bin Laden's killing] is true, then this means that it is part of the American policy based on the oppression and bloodshed in the Muslim and Arab world."Haniyeh expressed his strong condemnation for the killing or assassination of Bin Laden, whom he referred to as "Mujahed" - someone in engaged in jihad, holy war against infidels. He said he was praying for mercy for Bin Laden.Hamas reached a "reconciliation" agreement with Fatah last week, calling for the formation of a joint interim government in the coming days, and preparations for elections a year from now throughout Judea, Samaria and Gaza. The agreement was hailed by most left-wing and anti-Israel organizations, but even President Shimon Peres, a strong supporter of a two-state solution and the Oslo process, said, "Israel would like to see the Palestinian people become united for peace - [but] this is not an agreement, this is a split. Hamas is a recognized terrorist organization. According to this agreement Hamas doesn't have to change their charter that calls for the destruction of Israel, they can continue to shoot at us as they did when firing [last month] on a yellow school bus [and murdering a teenager]. Hamas is a branch of Iran - Iran, Hamas and Hizbullah want a union for war..."Read the full story here.

  • U.S. closes its embassy, consulates in Pak till further notice.(TheHinduNews).The U.S. on Tuesday closed its embassy and consulates in Pakistan to the general public until further notice, a day after American special forces killed al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in a daring raid near the garrison city of Abbottabad.“The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulates in Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi are closed for routine business to the general public until further notice,” Embassy spokesman Alberto Rodriguez said.Routine business includes matters like the issuance of visas. The Embassy and Consulates will remain open for “other business and for emergency American citizen services”, he said. The move came amid fears of reprisals by the Pakistani Taliban and al-Qaeda for the killing of bin Laden, who was hiding out in a compound located a few hundred metres from the Pakistan Military Academy.Read the full story here.

  • Osama bin Laden’s Death: Watch Out For Revenge Attacks On Christians.(TheTelegraph).It is a huge relief for the Western world to learn that Osama bin Laden has been killed – but already, and quite justifiably, Christian leaders in countries with large Islamic populations have issued warnings to local Christians to be on their guard. Small congregations in Muslim societies are an easy target for Islamists, who are already engaged in an international campaign of violent intimidation against Christians. And let us not forget that the 9/11 attacks themselves were partly motivated by hatred of Christianity. The former head of the Catholic Church in Pakistan has just issued this statement. Note, however, that he is quite clear that, in the long run, the death of bin Laden is a hopeful sign for his country:
Pakistani Christians could suffer a backlash after the death of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden, a former head of the Catholic Church in the country told ucanews.com today.“We are a soft target as they cannot attack America. We demand security; the government should control any retaliation,” Archbishop Emeritus Lawrence Saldanha of Lahore said. But despite the risk of short-term retaliation against Christians, bin Laden’s killing could return balance to the war-torn society of Pakistan, he said. He was hopeful that the killing of world’s most wanted terrorist will reduce the militant radicalism that has engulfed Pakistan in recent years.“At last we have hope that things will get better gradually”, he said.“Many looked on bin Laden as a hero of the Islamic revolution. But he was a role-model of extremism and a threat to world peace. His death will change the complexion and decentralize as well as demystify extremism,” the archbishop said. The West has paid little attention to the persecution of Christians in Muslim countries, and especially in Pakistan, recipient of so much – too much – British aid. (The Foreign Office and DfID have appeared shamefully ignorant of what is going on.) Now we must watch closely. Just last night, before the news about Osama broke, Pakistani police in Gujranwala had to intervene to stop a crowd of arsonists attacking a church after rumours that a copy of the Koran had been burned.Hmmmm.....And we all know how the US Pres loves the Muslim way of doing things?Read the full story here.

  • US braces for "Summer Of violence"!(DailyMail).Police are being told to brace themselves for a summer of street violence as a record-low one in four U.S. teenagers will land a job.Experts said cities like Chicago, where summer unemployment among African-Americans aged 16 to 19 years approaches 90 per cent, could experience a rise in street violence. The summer employment rate among U.S. teenagers this year is projected to be between 25 and 27 per cent, according to an analysis by the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University in Boston. That would be a post-World War Two low and a significant fall from recent years. In 2006 the teenage summer employment rate was 37 per cent.Jack Wuest, executive director of the Alternative Schools Network, which commissioned the report, said: ‘We cannot continue to ignore the correlation between youth violence and teen employment.‘We know if our teens are in school or at a job they are not on the streets.’The report has raised concerns in cities such as Chicago, where nearly 700 children were hit by gunfire last year, with 66 deaths.Andrea Zopp, president of Chicago Urban League, said: ‘Both national and local leadership continue to ignore the plight of youth who are most at risk for potential violence as a result of being left on the streets in the summer months when crime is at its most explosive.’According the report, federal backing for summer jobs programmes will not be renewed, meaning 18,000 more Illinois teenagers will be jobless this summer.Hmmmm....."Yes we can" the Obama Style Change!Read the full story here.

  • US Ambassador to Turkey Ricciardone says US will never be at war with Islam. (TodaysZaman).US Ambassador to Turkey Francis J. Ricciardone has said the United States will never be at war with Islam, commenting on the killing of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on Monday. Ricciardone said in a statement translated into Turkish late on Monday that the war on terror is not related to religion, the Cihan news agency reported.Ricciardone was responding questions by reporters at a meeting organized by the Turkish Contractors Association (TMB) in Ankara on Monday.Ricciardone said bin Laden was the chief enemy of world peace and that the terrorist leader was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents, including Muslims. The US ambassador reiterated US President Barack Obama's earlier remarks in Washington during a press briefing at which he announced that the al-Qaeda leader had been killed. Ricciardone said the US is not at war with Islam and will never be, adding that this war (on terror) is not related to religion. “Our fight is completely against terrorists and murderers,” Ricciardone said.He also said he agrees with President Abdullah Gül and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu's assessments.Gül welcomed on Monday the killing of bin Laden and stressed that this should serve as a warning to terrorist leaders elsewhere that they would be caught “dead or alive.”Davutoğlu also hailed the killing of the al-Qaeda leader as a “positive development,” said the terrorist organization led to misperceptions about Islam and noted that he hopes this latest development would correct this.Read the full story here.

  • Obama faces new court appeal over claims birth certificate is 'doctored or fake'.(DailyMail).Leaders of the so-called 'birther' movement have claimed that the birth certificate produced by Barack Obama is a fake. Despite the president providing the the full long-form document last week, the 'birthers' - fronted by Donald Trump - have taken their case to a federal appeals court in Southern California. They claim the birth certificate had been doctored; that the document's serial number was out of sequence, the typing wasn't aligned, and it was printed on green paper instead of white paper like other Hawaiian birth records of that era.But it was unclear how far their arguments would go, given the previous failed lawsuits on the issue and concern from the court about whether the latest claim was filed too late to be considered.Obama's production of the vital record was aimed at quashing any lingering doubt among critics who contend he shouldn't have been elected because he couldn't prove he was a U.S. citizen - a prerequisite for the nation's highest office. But it has not deterred Orly Taitz, an lawyer at the forefront of the birther movement. On Monday, Taitz told a three-judge panel of the ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that the long-form birth certificate released by Obama is 'not a true and correct image.'It's very inventive computer art,' she said.Taitz and attorney Gary Kreep, on behalf of more than 40 plaintiffs, are seeking to revive a lawsuit challenging Obama's citizenship that was dismissed by U.S. District Judge David Carter in late 2009. They asked the panel to remand the case to Judge Carter in Orange County.Read the full story here.

  • Time to go Back to reality!36 Statistics Which Prove That The American Dream Is Turning Into An Absolute Nightmare For The Middle Class.(TheAmericanDream).The U.S. middle class is being shredded, ripped apart and systematically wiped out. If you doubt this, just check out the statistics below. The American Dream is being transformed into an absolute nightmare. Once upon a time, the rest of the world knew that most Americans were able to live a middle class lifestyle. Most American families had nice homes, most American families had a car or two, most American families had nice clothes, most American families had an overabundance of food and most American families could even look forward to sending their children to college if that is what the kids wanted to do.
There was an implicit promise that this was the way that it was always going to be. Most of us grew up believing that if we worked really hard in school and that if we stayed out of trouble and that if we did everything that "the system" told us to do that there would be a place for us in the middle class too. Well, it turns out that "the system" is breaking down. There aren't enough good jobs for all of us anymore. In fact, there aren't very many crappy jobs either. Millions are out of work, millions have lost their homes and nearly all of the long-term economic trends just keep getting worse and worse. So is there any hope for the U.S. middle class? No, there is not.To mention a couple of indicators for this :
There are now about 7.25 million fewer jobs in America than when the recession began back in 2007.
The United States has lost an average of about 50,000 manufacturing jobs per month since China joined the World Trade Organization in 2001.
A New York post analysis has found that the rate of inflation in New York City has been about 14 percent over the past year.
Over the past 12 months the average price of gasoline in the United States has gone up by about 30%.Now go and read the full story here.

  • Islamic Society in Brazil Prays that Allah Will "Reserve the Place for the Great Mujahideen" for bin Laden.(TranslatingJihad).Peace be upon you. Fitna is when a person sows intrigue among Muslims, causing disunity and enmity. Takfirism comes from takfir, which is when someone declares that a person is not a Muslim, whether done justly or unjustly. Remember that the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever declares a Muslim to be a kafir (infidel), has himself become a kafir." Other hadiths classified as sahih (sound), as narrated by al-Tabarani, include: "Leave in peace those who say that there is no god but Allah. Don't declare them kuffar (infidels) for committing a sin. For whoever declares he who recites that there is no god but Allah to be a kafir, is himself closest to kufr (infidelity)." • US Muslim Leader “Deeply Concerned About Violence” That Killed Bin Laden.(Daily Caller) — At a Monday morning press conference, Muslim-American leaders reiterated their contention that Osama bin Laden never represented Islam but cautioned America against continuing to use violence in Islamic lands.Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), somberly expressed relief that justice had been served, but reserved compassion for the “innocent.” . . .Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, deputy committee member on the Council of Muslim Organizations of Washington, D.C., reminded the audience that despite bin Laden’s evil, Americans should not respond to his death with jubilation.“We have been consistent since [9/11] of saying that the act of violence against the American people does not represent Islam,” said Malik. “While saying this, we are reminded of the words from the Vatican. . . . and others that as people of faith, it is not right that we dance on the grave of even a mass murderer.”Ibrahim Ramey, director of the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, added that while some are relieved that bin Laden has been eliminated, he remains concerned about the ongoing violence in the Middle East.“Clearly we understood the killing of civilians in the Koran and any ethical system of judgment is something that cannot and should not be tolerated and when it happens in the name of faith, it is the responsibility of people in that faith to utterly and unequivocally condemn that violence — which we did,” Ramey said. “And so in that sense, we see the violence that came full circle around to claim the life of Osama bin Laden yesterday was certainly part of the dialectic of violence that all of us are deeply concerned about. We know that terrorism is wrong and we know that the killing of civilians is wrong, but we want to understand and promote the understanding that war itself in any manifestation is not a solution.”Hmmmmm.........Read the full story here.

  • Islamabad is 9:0 hours ahead of Washington DC.The president left the White House to play golf at 9:42 am, arriving at the Andrews Air Force Base course about 25 minutes later, according to the press pool report. He then ended his game after nine holes at 1:39 pm and made it back to the White House at 2:04 pm, about two hours before the attack on Bin Laden appears to have occurred.Hmmm....2:04 pm would be 11:04 pm Islamabad.According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the attack on Bin Laden’s compound north of Islamabad seems to have happened at about 1:10 am local time, thats about 4 pm. Hmmm.....Poor guy had to cut short his golf.Still the Nine Americans who came home on Sunday in bodybags from Afghanistan did not prevent him from playing.

  • Osama bin Laden Has Been Dead For Years.(Davidicke). In an address to the nation, Obama said he ordered the strike that allegedly killed Osama. The remainder of his speech followed the standard war on terror propaganda script. A small team of Americans killed bin Laden in a firefight at a compound in Pakistan, the president said in a dramatic late-night statement at the White House, the Associated Press reported following Obama’s address.Obama said the military took custody of his remains. It remains to be seen if the government will attempt to provide evidence that the remains are indeed those of Osama bin Laden.''Killing Osama bin Laden is a pretty big deal. You’d think that it would be in the interests of US forces to take a snapshot of the elusive terror leader to milk the propaganda value of such a momentous turn of events, and yet the corporate media has given us nothing but a years old fake picture. This makes little sense, unless of course, somebody is trying to hide something, namely the fact that Osama’s dead corpse has been on ice for the best part of a decade.According to some reports, Bin Laden’s body has already been hastily “buried at sea,” meaning that the comic book story of his dramatic killing is based solely on the less than credible word of the U.S. government.'Read the full story here.

  • Reactions to Osama Bin Laden’s Death.Bin Laden Assassination – Hamas Condemns It, PA Welcomes It, Islamists Expect Revenge, Iran Doubts Whether He Was Assassinated At All. (Memri).
Gaza Hamas prime minister Isma'il Haniya said that despite the dispute between Hamas and Al-Qaeda, Hamas condemns the assassination of "jihad fighter" Osama bin Laden. He said, "This is a continuation of the American policy based on violence and on the shedding of Arab and Islamic blood." Palestinian Authority spokesman Ghassan Al-Khatib said that the assassination "will benefit worldwide peace, but the important thing is to defeat the sheikh and the violent style that bin Laden and others implemented and encouraged." Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt deputy leader Dr. 'Issam Al-'Arian said that bin Laden's death removes one of the reasons for violence in the world, and predicted that revenge would come. Al-Gama'a Al-Islamiyya Shura Council chairman Sheikh Safwat Abd Al-Ghani said that the incident would not end the dispute between Al-Qaeda and the U.S., while council member Sheikh 'Issam Abd Al-Magid predicted that bin Laden's path and outlook would fade following his death. Leading Salafi preacher Omar Bakri said in Lebanon that bin Laden's death expresses the loss of a leader in the region, but that it was good that he had achieved the martyrdom that he wanted. Bakri too said that there would be revenge operations. Muslim clerics said that the burial of bin Laden at sea that was a violation of Islamic law, which permits such burial only if the death took place at sea. Iranian Majlis National Security Commission chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi raised doubts regarding whether bin Laden had actually been killed, saying that the U.S. had made similar announcements before (see Iranian Majlis Member: Nothing New In Bin Laden Death Report). He said that even if the assassination was carried out, it was a minor achievement after a decade of U.S. aggression in Afghanistan

Former Muslim Brotherhood UK Leader Praises Osama Bin Laden.

In a live question-and-answer session titled "Bin Laden Dead: What Next?" on Onislam.net, Dr. Kamal Helbawy answered questions about the situation in the Arab and Muslim world following the assassination of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Dr. Helbawy, an Egyptian, served as official spokesman of the Muslim Brotherhood in the West from 1995-1997. While living in London, he helped create the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB, on whose board he still serves) and the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB). During the onislam.net discussion, Dr. Helbawy praised bin Laden for being a leader of jihad, saying "We appreciate him as a rich man living in KSA who left this luxurious life and moved to a hard life in mountains and caves. He helped his Afghan brethrens and participated in Afghan jihad effectively." Dr. Helbawy also accused the U.S. of being behind the 9/11 attacks, saying, "I think that what the Americans claim about September 11th was a trick and a bait they accused Al-Qaeda of. All evidences and indications refer that the Americans are the ones who planned this matter." He further wrote, "I ask Allah to have mercy upon Osama bin Laden, to treat him generously, to enlighten his grave, and to make him join the prophets, the martyrs, and the good people."

  • Indian Media Reports on Osama bin Laden's Killing: 'Osama was Killed in an ISI Safehouse'; 'Finger of Suspicion at ISI'; 'More Shame… Heading ISI's Way'.(Memri).

Quoting Pakistani officials, a number of media reports state that Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden could not have hidden in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad (where he was killed) without the knowledge of the Pakistani military, especially its powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The website of the leading Indian weekly magazine India Today published a report from its Pakistan correspondent titled "Osama Dead: Pak May Have Known About His Presence in Abbottabad." The report noted growing speculation that Osama bin Laden was killed at a safehouse operated by the ISI. Two more reports were published by the websites rediff.com and timesofindia.com that indicated that the ISI knew bin Laden's whereabouts. It should be noted that the website of the Urdu-language Pakistani daily Roznama Jang reported earlier today that Pakistani army forces did not participate in the operation to kill bin Laden. The report quoted a statement of the Pakistani Foreign Office as confirming that Osama bin Laden was killed in the operation but the "Pakistani security forces did not take part in the operation."The Pakistani military's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is known to be the most powerful player in Pakistan, virtually dictating Pakistan's foreign relations with Afghanistan, India, and the United States. It has been known over the past several decades for its support to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. Last month, Admiral Mike Mullen, the Chairman of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated in Islamabad that the ISI continues to support the Haqqani Network, the second largest group of militants among the Taliban in Afghanistan.

"A senior Pakistan military official has told India Today that it was impossible for the army to have not known that Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was in Abbottabad. This has further fuelled speculation that Osama was killed in an ISI safehouse. Bin Laden was killed in the operation late on Sunday night at a mansion in Abbottabad, 80 kilometers north of Islamabad."The cantonment [military camp] town houses many military institutions, including Pakistan's Military Academy at Kakul, where most of its military elite - including present [Pakistan Army] chief General [Ashfaq Pervez] Kayani - have passed through.

"The joint operation of Pakistani troops and American special forces that killed Osama bin Laden did not encounter any fierce resistance from the Al-Qaeda chief's bodyguards. 'There was minimal resistance and none of the troops in the operation were injured,' the official told India Today.

"Sources say this was unusual for a high-value target like bin Laden, who was normally surrounded by dozens of his elite bodyguards. No one was willing to talk about how many troops took part in this operation. Bin Laden's body was transported to Bagram airbase near Kabul, Afghanistan.  ????

"Pakistan-U.S. intelligence agencies got a tip-off last Friday that Osama was hiding somewhere in Abbottabad. After tracing the exact location, a joint operation was carried out by special troops of Pak and U.S. Special Forces, which finally killed Osama bin Laden along with some of Al-Qaeda operatives."However, a spokesperson of Inter-Services public relations [of the Pakistani military] Major General Athar Abbas declined [to] comment. The Pakistan Foreign Office has stated that bin Laden was killed in an 'intelligence driven operation' around Abbottabad in the early hours of this morning. 'The operation was carried out by U.S. forces in accordance with the declared U.S. policy that Osama bin Laden will be eliminated in a direct action by U.S. forces wherever found in the world,' the statement said…"'If Bin Laden Managed to Play Hide and Seek with the World All This While, It was Only Thanks to ISI's Patronage"

"More Shame and Retribution Heading ISI's Way" and published on the Indian website rediff.com also noted that Osama bin Laden could not have lived in Abbottabad without the knowledge of the Pakistani military. Following are excerpts from the report:

"Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence [ISI] is bound to be cornered in the days to come following the killing of dreaded terrorist Osama bin Laden."A source in the intelligence agency says that Osama's death will no doubt put the ISI in a very uncomfortable position among the Al-Qaeda, Haqqani Network, and the Lashkar-e-Taiba, who now feel betrayed by the agency."When the dust settles, more embarrassment could come the ISI's way with the trial of terror suspects David Coleman Headley and Tahhawur Rana, due to commence [in a Chicago court]."Nothing in the Af-Pak region goes unnoticed by the ISI, and if bin Laden managed to play hide-and-seek with the world all this while, it was only thanks to ISI's patronage. Although the U.S. has claimed that Pakistan was not in the know of this operation, terror groups would not believe so."They are aware that nothing is possible unless there has been a certain degree of support from the establishment. Moreover, Osama was living in a place close to the army headquarters in Abbottabad, about 70 kilometers northeast of Pakistan's capital Islamabad. This is not a fact that would have gone unnoticed by the ISI.

Report in Indian Daily: "Hiding Bin Laden: Finger of Suspicion at ISI"

In a report, a correspondent of The Times of India newspaper filed a report from Washington under the title "Hiding bin Laden: Finger of Suspicion at ISI." Following are excerpts from the report:"[Announcing the death of Osama bin Laden,] while Obama said: 'It's important to note that our counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan helped lead us to bin Laden and the compound where he was hiding,' he made no mention of any Pakistani military role in the operation. U.S. officials in background briefing made it clear that no country, much less Pakistan, was informed of the operation. "In fact, there was not even a word of thanks for Pakistan. Instead, Obama said: 'Tonight, I called President Zardari, and my team has also spoken with their Pakistani counterparts. They agree that this is a good and historic day for both of our nations. And going forward, it is essential that Pakistan continue to join us in the fight against al-Qaida and its affiliates.'

"Taken together with President Obama's pointed reference to President Zardari and leaving out any mention of Pakistani forces' involvement, it would seem that Washington believes that Pakistan's military intelligence establishment, including the ISI, was sheltering bin Laden. The ISI was accused as recently as last week by top U.S. military official Admiral Mike Mullen of having terrorist links, and named as a terrorist support entity by U.S. officials, according to the Guantanamo cables. "Lending credence to the charges is the fact that U.S. forces honed in on bin Laden in Abbottabad, which is a cantonment just 50 kilometers from Islamabad, where the Pakistani military has a strong presence. The place where bin Laden was killed is only kilometers from the Kakul military academy, where many Pakistani military elites, including some of its ISI cadres, graduate from. "While U.S. officials are tight-lipped about precise details, analysts are trying to figure out whether the compound that sheltered bin Laden was an ISI safehouse. There is also speculation as to whether Hillary Clinton was referring to this when she made her pointed remarks last May. "U.S. officials have said for years that they believed bin Laden escaped to Pakistan after the American bombing campaign in Afghanistan. But Pakistani officials, including its former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, insisted that he was in Afghanistan, even as Afghan officials would angrily refute it and say he is in Pakistan. In the end, the Americans and Afghans were right on the money."Read the full story here.

  • Reactions to News of OBL's Death on Jihadi Websites Voice Disbelief, Call for Revenge. OBL Commemorated on Facebook.
As of this writing, no official message from jihadi media organs has appeared on jihadi websites in reaction to U.S. President Barack Obama's announcement that U.S. forces had killed Osama Bin Laden. The administrators of the Shumoukh Al-Islam forum erased two messages posted by members who discussed the issue, and issued a statement warning members not to talk about the matter and not to believe any media reports, but to rely only on official statements from the mujahideen: "Have faith in Allah, be patient and do not report the rumors that are being spread! We have clarified this matter many times. By God, none of you is to write about this matter until we receive confirmed reports from those concerned." Many forum members responded to this message by expressing denial of the reports in the Western media and by praying for Bin Laden's wellbeing. A prominent writer on Shumoukh, Hussein Bin Mahmoud, posted a message titled "Osama is Alive." Many members took heart in a news item on Russia Today TV, according to which the Pakistani Taliban denied Bin Laden's death, saying that he was in a safe place. Some online jihadists went as far as denying the authenticity of the photos that appeared in the media showing Bin Laden's body.A member of Shumoukh who calls himself Abu Malik Al-Maqdisi, who is most likely Palestinian, expressed the wish for revenge: "America and the community of disbelief must know that Osama's soldiers and religion did not and will not die, Allah willing. We are determined, Allah willing, [to take] revenge, revenge, revenge. If he is alive, we will take revenge, and if he is a martyr, we will take revenge. We will not forget our religion, which you have insulted, and our prophet, whom you have mocked... We are your soldiers, O Osama! By Allah, how good you are, dead or alive."Another member of Shumoukh, going by the name Mukhadib Al-Dima', discussed the spontaneous gathering outside the White House, asking who would be willing to come forth to kill Americans, joining the list of heroes that includes Nidal Hasan, Faisal Shahzad, Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, and others. He reminded his fellow jihadists that there is no need to ask clerical permission for the killing of Americans. The administrators of 'Al-Tawhid', a popular page of jihadist sympathizers on Facebook with over 18,000 followers, reacted to the news with dismay, pleading with members not to believe the reports. Later on, though, the administrators changed the profile picture to that of Bin Laden, and published poems commemorating him.In addition, a new Facebook page sympathizing with Bin Laden was set up this morning, titled "We are all the Sheikh Osama Bin Laden". Several hours after being established, the page has 684 followers. Read the full story here.

  • Bin Laden death: Views from Pakistan.(Al-Jazeera).While Americans breath sigh of relief, many Pakistanis are apprehensive of the future after al-Qaeda leader's death.President Obama, in his announcement of bin Laden's death, acknowledged Pakistan's co-operation in the hunt for him. However, it has not yet been established, to what extent did the intelligence agencies of US and Pakistan work together.Gul said: "If they carried the operation without the cooperation of ISI, then it will definitely be seen as a direct attack on Pakistan’s integrity and its sovereignty."And if ISI and CIA co-operated on this operation then this entire rhetoric of tense relations between the two agencies was a complete drama.""Given that the helicopters flew at night, and helicopters fly very low so there is no way that they could have escaped the radar of Pakistan intelligence," said Kasuri."So this indicates that there was a degree of cooperation. Now what we do not know is the extent of the co-operation."Ayaz Amir, a Pakistan-based columnist, says it is highly unlikely that "the Pakistani intelligence agencies would have known where he was. They couldn't have played this high-risk game of knowing his whereabouts and pretending otherwise"."And it is surprising that it took place near a very busy road, it shows sheer audacity that on his part that he chose to seek refuge in a compound in that area."The US forces couldn’t have carried out the operation on their own so the question is who gave them the tip-off?"Many did believe he was already dead - including some CIA officials. And General Pervez Musharraf, during his time as the president of Pakistan, also said that the man was probably dead but speaking to Geo News on Monday, he said that, "If I had the intelligence report, then I could have confirmed his whereabouts."I used to get agitated if someone made a claim that they knew where he was – I have to say I was surprised to find out that he was found in Abbottabad.""When I held the presidential office, in terms of military operations, intelligence cooperation, human intelligence was always ours."We had zero technical expertise - no aerial surveillance so we started developing it. But we needed technical support from CIA and gradually we developed our own which was still not comparable to that of the US."The policy was clear that only Pakistani troops will operate, no foreign troops will operate. US forces were never allowed, Pakistani forces always operated independently."And like many others Musharraf acknowledged that "US had always said that in case of actionable intelligence, we will act. But it is a violation of our country, we have well-trained troops."
Worry for Pakistan?
The initial surprise and disbelief have already started to transform into worry for many Pakistanis."Pakistan has the most to fear in terms of the reaction, from wherever al-Qaeda has strength in the Islamic World, including Asia and Middle East," said Kasuri."In the short term, there will be many more incidents by terrorists, these will be acts to avenge Osama bin Laden’s death......and not just in Pakistan but across the globe."In the medium term, US public opinion has been swayed, they feel that justice has been done and it will help Obama finalise his exit strategy from the region."In the long term, there will be a quiet debate in the US quarters on how did the phenomenon (of al-Qaeda) come about, they will not acknowledge it but they will talk about it.Imran Khan, Chairman Movement for Justice, who staged a sit-in just over a week ago to stop NATO supplies to protest US drone strikes in Pakistan says that, "It will be very difficult for Pakistan now."If our leadership fails to handle it properly, there will be a backlash from Osama bin Laden’s followers who will hail him as a martyr and try to avenge his death."And on the other hand, the idea will be presented to the world and is already being presented by the US media that Pakistan is the hub of terrorism.
Just a symbol
Osama bin Laden, the man who indeed founded al-Qaeda although was no longer the chief operations commander of the outfit, will surely be missed by many of his followers.Raja Zafar-ul-Haq of Pakistan Muslim League says that "he had just been a symbol (of terrorism) for the last few years but we must remember that the network is still present."There will be anger, and the target will not just be US but also Pakistanis so the Pakistan government as well armed forces need to strategise."Musharraf reminded of a true threat that he believes is very much present still despite the death of the man."Al-Qaeda will not just crumble and disappear, whenever someone gefts eliminated from their leadership campaign then new people come and take charge, so we must all realise that it is a long drawn campaign.""Technical training of Pakistani Taliban such as preparing and using IEDs, suicide jackets, all this training has been given by al-Qaeda... so it is actually al-Qaeda not Osama, that is Pakistan’s main enemy."No foreigner has the right to spread terrorism on Pakistan' soil."Read the full story here.
