MFS - The Other News

                         Afternoon Posting.

  • HT:BigGoverment. The Piggyleaks : Why Pigford Matters. As Barack Obama prepares to sign an alleged landmark settlement to right previous wrongs dealt black farmers by the USDA, it’s important to realize that this is less a story about race, or discrimination, than it is a textbook case of big government run amok with greed and a usual cast of characters only too happy to cash in at the expense of the American taxpayer.Indeed, as Big Government has already pointed out, the legitimate concerns of many honest, hard working black farmers continue to go ignored, while high power law firms, in some cases linked to the Democrat Party, stand to cash in big. Only in the world of big money and high power politics can an individual like Mike Espy, a former head of the very same USDA he is now suing, now claim to speak for over 15,000 clients alleging discrimination by the same USDA Espy headed up. The mere thought of that is absurd and should function as a red flag for any good government watchdog. As Big Government will continue to show over the next few weeks, Pigford is a universe of its own filled with crooked politicians, cover-ups, greedy attorneys, and crime rings. And one of the brightest stars in the Pigford universe is Mike Espy: How many actual farmers with potentially legitimate complaints against the USDA will actually be compensated remains to be seen. But one thing seems abundantly clear, Espy will very likely profit to a degree that far exceeds any potential aggrieved party. That isn’t justice, it is corruption and cronyism writ large to be paraded about in what amounts to an outrageous signing ceremony at the White House today. To date, only Representatives Michelle Bachman and Steve King have been willing to step up and ask some hard questions that need to be asked as regards Pigford II. I would encourage conservatives and Republicans not to be cowed by the threat of charges of racism in this regard. This is not about race, except as it is too often used as a blunt political weapon by liberals and progressives to thwart the asking of legitimate questions when it comes to transparency, good government and integrity.Something smells when it comes to the Pigford settlement. And it is not the manure hard working black farmers who were actually discriminated against might use, or have used, to fertilize their fields. The goal of Big Government’s reporting in this regard is not to deny legitimate claims by any black farmers who may have been discriminated against. Our purpose is to put the blame for the stench surrounding Pigford precisely where it belongs, in a Washington, DC out of touch with the American people, including many black farmers. What Pigford suggests is that, to Washington, black farmers are, in reality, merely another a group of people an out of control, unaccountable government laced with greed, corruption, and a need for growth is only too willing to elevate and perhaps exploit as a political tool, without genuinely ensuring justice is served on their behalf, while at the same time protecting the interests of hard working taxpayers from the threat of rampant fraud and corruption Pigford very likely represents.Hmmmm....Once you start digging in a dung hill you don't know what Obamination may surface?Read the full story here.

  • HT:IsraelMatzav.Iran placing ballistic missiles in Venezuela that can reach the US. If any of you in the US still think Iran is only a threat to Israel and the Gulf countries, and therefore wonder why you should be at all concerned about it, perhaps this will change your mind: Iran is placing medium-range missiles that can reach the United States in Venezuela. According to Die Welt, Venezuela has agreed to allow Iran to establish a military base manned by Iranian missile officers, soldiers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Venezuelan missile officers. In addition, Iran has given permission for the missiles to be used in case of an "emergency". In return, the agreement states that Venezuela can use these facilities for "national needs" – radically increasing the threat to neighbors like Colombia. The German daily claims that according to the agreement, Iranian Shahab 3 (range 1300-1500 km), Scud-B (285-330 km) and Scud-C (300, 500 and 700 km) will be deployed in the proposed base. It says that Iran also pledged to help Venezuela in rocket technology expertise, including intensive training of officers. And for those of you making the obvious comparison to the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.... Back in the 1962, thanks to the stern stance adopted by the then Kennedy administration, the crisis was defused.Nowadays, however, we do not see the same firmness from the present administration. On the contrary, we see a lax attitude, both in language and in deeds, that results in extending hands when our adversaries have no intention of shaking hands with us. Iran is soon going to have a nuclear weapon, and there are no signs that UN sanctions will in any way deter the Ayatollah's regime from completing its nuclear program.Hmmm......in not a single way Obama can be compared to Kennedy.Obama is a mere shadow of that great statesman.Read the full scale story here.

  • U.S. Invites Japan to Join Korean Exercise as Tensions With North Escalate. The U.S. military chief said he wants Japan to join drills off the Korean peninsula to forge a “unified position” with South Korea against aggression by Kim Jong Il’s regime. Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at a briefing today in Seoul that he hopes U.S. military exercises with South Korea will “include participation by your neighbors and partners, in particular the Japanese.” He didn’t elaborate on what kind of role Japan would be playing, only that they could offer training and expertise. “I leave this evening for Tokyo to discuss with Japanese military leaders ways in which we can leverage their experience and improve defense cooperation,” Mullen said at a news conference with South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Han Min Koo. “I only wish China were as helpful.Hmmm...This doesn't sound good if you ask me. Read the full story here.

  • Liberals Try to Prevent Pelosi From Bringing Tax Bill to the Floor.Fox has learned that Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Jim McDermott (D-WA) and Jay Inslee (D-WA) are crafting a letter to share with the House Democratic Caucus that would try to prevent the Speaker from bringing the tax bill to the floor. They hope to get 60 signatures on their letter (which is still being drafted) and then force a vote in the caucus. DeFazio says he thinks that if a majority of House Democrats are against this compromise, they shouldn't bring it to the floor. In other words, they are seeking a majority of the majority to move this and a senior House democratic source indicates they don't know if they have a majority of democrats, saying they haven't whipped this yet.Read the full story here.

  • Pigileaks: We Helped Get You Elected, Now Give Us Our Money: NBFA President John Boyd Letter to President Obama. In our report, we document two organizations, the Black Farmers and Agriculturists Association and the National Black Farmers Association. These two groups round up tens of thousands of Pigford litigants and then lobby politicians with promises of votes and campaign cash in exchange for championing and funding their causes such as Pigford. These two groups, and the Pigfored issue, hold huge sway over the rural black vote, and as you can see from this letter from the President of the BFAA John Boyd, Boyd is eager to get rewarded for helping to put President Obama into office.Boyd’s reward comes today as President Obama signs Pigford II funding into law, and the circle of quid pro quo is complete.Hmmm....Did i not mention this earlier?Read the full story here.

  • Don't put Quran verses on cake: Top Saudi cleric.Saudi Arabia’s top Muslim cleric has warned against writing Quran verses on cake, saying this constitutes an insult of the Holy Book.Quoted by Saudi newspapers on Wednesday, the kingdom’s Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Shaikh said he had noticed that Quran verses are written on cake during social events and other occasions at homes and schools.“Writing Quran verses on cake or any other edible items amounts to an insult of the Quran and is unacceptable,” he said.“Appreciating and respecting the Quran should not be done by eating its verses but by reading or listening to them and by sticking to their content…Quran verses must not be used in decoration of cake and eating it.”Newspapers said the Mufti was responding to questions about the growing phenomenon of using Quran verses by some Quran memorisation centres in the Gulf kingdom to adorn cake at graduation events.

  • FCC's pay-as-you-go Internet plan raises video, access questions. As details emerge about the Federal Communications Commission's controversial proposal for regulating Internet providers, a provision that would allow companies to bill customers for how much they surf the Web is drawing special scrutiny.Analysts say pay-as-you-go Internet access could put the brakes on the burgeoning online video industry, handing a victory to cable and satellite TV providers. The practice is legal, but had been discouraged by the FCC and by protests from consumers and public interest groups. But wireless companies are moving rapidly in that direction - all major cellphone providers offer subscribers tiered data plans for Internet service. AT&T doesn't offer flat-rate wireless plans for new customers. And although FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said last week that his so-called net-neutrality proposal would generally prohibit broadband service providers from tampering with Internet traffic, he added that he is open to new billing models that charge by how much data a user consumes. The FCC will vote Dec. 21 on the proposal, which could could tilt fortunes toward cable and telecom companies battling to keep users from abandoning paid television services for new Internet options such as Apple TV and Hulu.com, analysts say. Those providers are struggling to manage overburdened networks that are seeing a surge in streaming video traffic from sites such as Netflix, which alone occupies 20 percent of all peak broadband traffic in the United States."If people are forced to pay per kilobit it's like they are forced to pay per word of a book," said Todd Weaver, chief executive of Ivi, a Seattle-based video streaming company. Craig Moffett, an analyst at Bernstein Research, wrote in a note to investors Tuesday that the impact of pay-as-you-go broadband access "can't be overstated."Hmmm....A new milk cow is in sight?Read the full story here.

  • HT:Memri.Iran To Divert More Of Its Trade Through Turkish Ports. With the Gulf countries, particularly the UAE tightening their grip on trade with and re-export to Iran, Iran is exploring the use of Turkish ports on both the Mediterranean and the Black Seas as an alternative to Gulf ports, particularly those of the UAE. Turkey, a NATO member with ambitions to join the European Union, is enjoying growing economic and financial ties with Iran despite the international sanctions on it. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan hopes to triple his country's trade with Iran within five years, from $10 billion in 2008.There are concerns in the West that Iran might use Turkey to circumvent the international sanctions while Turkey turns a blind eye.Hmmmm.....You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours?Read the full scam story here.

  • HT:BigGoverment. The PiggyLeaks : The Pigford Applications. From an anonymous source in the capitol: These are redacted Pigford applications that are all done by the same lawyer. All of the claimants come from Arkansas (two are related) and the stories they write on the application are clearly boilerplate, probably done by the same paralegal. Some of the words are even misspelled consistently through the documents. We don’t know the outcome of these apps but if they were successful claims it shows how little the claimants actually had to provide to get $50K. This is the kind of information that we can’t wait to subpoena.Hmmmm....Sound just like a Christmas resolution?Read the full story here.

  • WikiLeaks cables: Saudi princes throw parties boasting drink, drugs and sex.Royals flout puritanical laws to throw parties for young elite while religious police are forced to turn a blind eye.The dispatch from the US partygoers, signed off by the consul in Jeddah, Martin Quinn, added: "Though not witnessed directly at this event, cocaine and hashish use is common in these social circles."The underground party scene is "thriving and throbbing" in Saudi Arabia thanks to the protection of Saudi royalty, the dispatch said. But it is only available behind closed doors and for the very rich.More than 150 Saudi men and women, most in their 20s and 30s, were at the party. The patronage of royalty meant the feared religious police kept a distance. Admission was controlled through a strict guest list. "The scene resembled a nightclub anywhere outside the kingdom: plentiful alcohol, young couples dancing, a DJ at the turntables and everyone in costume."The dispatch said the bar featured a top shelf of well-known brands of liquor, the original contents reportedly replaced with sadiqi. On the black market, they reported, a bottle of Smirnoff vodka can cost 1,500 riyals (£250) compared with 100 riyals (£16) for the locally-made vodka. In a venture into Saudi sociology, the diplomats explained why they thought their host was so attached to Nigerian bodyguards, some of whom were working on the door. "Most of the prince's security forces were young Nigerian men. It is common practice for Saudi princes to grow up with hired bodyguards from Nigeria or other African nations who are of similar age and who remain with the prince well into adulthood. The lifetime spent together creates an intense bond of loyalty".One young Saudi told the diplomat that big parties were a recent trend. Even a few years ago, he said, the only weekend activity was "dating" among small groups who met inside the homes of the rich. Some of the more opulent houses in Jeddah feature basement bars, discos and clubs. One high-society Saudi said: "The increased conservatism of our society over these past years has only moved social interaction to the inside of people's homes."Hmmm.....Religious yes,but to a certain point?Read the full story here.

  • HT:AstuteBloggers.MPACUK Calls on Muslims to Get MORE Extreme!"Extremism in the Pursuit of Liberty is No Vice; Moderation in the Pursuit of Justice is No Virtue .Sun 3 Oct 2010 MPACUK calls on Muslims to get a little extreme; no we call on Muslims to get very extreme. The time for moderation is over, the time for passive acceptance is gone, no longer are we held back by empty platitudes of ‘serving the community’. Muslims need to get active and get vocal now, we need to demand full accountability of our Police force, and break all links with West Midlands Police until those who were responsible for the attempted internment of the Muslim community are given their P45’s or better still shown the inside of a cell. Muslims were lied to and deceived by the West Midlands Police.Hmmmm...could this be related to this statement?"Sheikh Yusef al-Qaradawi, arguably the world’s leading scholar of Sunni Islam, uttered a few words that drew little notice internationally but could have big implications for future relations between Christians and Muslims.“I was for the possibility of bridging the gap between the east and the west but recently I have changed my mind on this issue, especially since the west wants to impose its values and traditions on us,” Mr Qaradawi told his congregation at Doha’s Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque in a televised sermon in October. “West is west and east is east. They do not recognise or follow our traditions and customs, so we should not follow theirs,” Mr Qaradawi said, echoing Rudyard Kipling, the British author"Read the full story here and here.

  • PayPal admits US pressure over WikiLeaks account freeze.Online payment company says State Department intervened. MasterCard site down as hackers step up cyber attacks.PayPal today admitted it suspended payments to WikiLeaks after an intervention from the US State Department. The site's vice-president of platform, Osama Bedier, told an internet conference the site had decided to freeze WikiLeaks's account on 4 December after government representatives said it was engaged in illegal activity."State Dept told us these were illegal activities. It was straightforward," he told the LeWeb conference in Paris, adding: "We ... comply with regulations around the world, making sure that we protect our brand."PayPal is the first major corporation to admit that its decision to suspend dealings with WikiLeaks was a result of US government pressure. It will intensify criticism from supporters of WikiLeaks that the site is being targeted for political reasons. Visa, Amazon, the Swiss bank PostFinance and others have also announced in recent days that they will cease trading with the whistleblowing site. The moves have led to concerted attempts by hackers to target companies they deem guilty of "censoring" WikiLeaks.Earlier today, the website of the international credit card MasterCard was hacked into and partially paralysed in revenge for the payment network's decision to cease taking donations to WikiLeaks.MasterCard is the biggest scalp yet taken in what is becoming an increasingly high-stakes technological battle over the site's right to publish freely. In an attack it is calling "Operation: Payback", a group of online activists calling themselves Anonymous appear to have orchestrated a DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack on the site, bringing its service to a halt.Attempts to access www.mastercard.com have been unsuccessful since shortly after 9.30am.The group, which has been targeting commercial sites that have cut their ties with WikiLeaks for some days, has also made threats to other organisations including Twitter, which it says is suppressing the site."We will fire at anything or anyone that tries to censor WikiLeaks, including multibillion-dollar companies such as PayPal," a statement circulating online, apparently from Operation: Payback, said."Twitter, you're next for censoring #WikiLeaks discussion. The major shitstorm has begun," it said. The Swiss bank PostFinance was successfully hacked on Monday after it shut down one of the site's key bank accounts, accusing Assange of lying. Its service since has been seriously disrupted.PayPal, which ceased processing payments to WikiLeaks at the weekend due to a "violation of the PayPal acceptable use policy", has also been targeted a number of times. But while its internal blog was paralysed for more than eight hours, the payment processing facility has so far been able to withstand the attacks.According to bloggers monitoring the cyber attacks, those involved in the protests have also been targeting the websites of the Swedish prosecutors, the US senator Joe Lieberman, who is an outspoken critic of WikiLeaks, Sarah Palin, who said Julian Assange, the site's founder, should be treated like a terrorist, and Claes Bergstrom, the lawyer of the two women who claim Assange raped or assaulted them.Bergstrom confirmed his website was shut down overnight, as was the site of a lawyer representing Assange in Sweden. This was the first time such an attack had occurred, he said.No one from MasterCard could be reached for immediate comment, but a spokesman, Chris Monteiro, has said the site suspended dealings with WikiLeaks because "MasterCard rules prohibit customers from directly or indirectly engaging in or facilitating any action that is illegal".Hmmmm.....Couldn't these guy's make cash dispensers give out free money or give donetions to poor websites?Read the full story here.More here.

  • No deal on settlement freeze extension. American officials: US dropped construction moratorium demand, will continue peace efforts.America losing its patience: Almost a month after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked his ministers to approve a settlement freeze extension in exchange for a US benefit package, American officials are saying that efforts to extend the moratorium have failed. Following the failure, American officials said that the US is mulling the possibility of resuming proximity talks between the sides. Meanwhile, Ynet learned that Israeli officials are looking into the possibility of offering another withdrawal to the Palestinians and handing over security powers to the Palestinian Authority. Two US officials familiar with months of failed efforts to get Israel to reinstate a freeze on some new construction said Tuesday the administration has concluded that is not the best way to restart the stalled talks. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The officials stressed that the administration was not giving up in trying to broker a peace deal and noted that Israeli and Palestinian negotiators will be visiting Washington next week for consultations. One official compared the situation to the indirect talks that existed before the face-to-face negotiations were launched in early September. "In the coming days and weeks we will engage with both sides on the core substantive issues as well as with Arab states and other international partners with the goal of working toward a framework on all permanent status issues," the first official said.Hmmmmm....i think pretty soon we'll see the "They don't trust me because of my middle name" impose a  peaceplan.Read the full story here.

  • HT:TheBlaze."The War On Christmas".PA Town Removes 57-Year-Old Nativity Scene From Gov’t Building: ‘Highly Disrespectful’.A small Pennsylvania town has removed a Nativity scene from its borough building after a resident complained that the creche is offensive to non-Christians. And while town leaders say they don’t like having to remove it, they are legally obligated.WPXI in Pittsburgh reports Canonsburg Borough and its Manager Terry Hazlett received a written complaint last week from resident Megan Hartley who said the creche was disrespectful to citizens who aren‘t Christian and that it shouldn’t be displayed at a government building.“I think that it is highly disrespectful to the citizens of this Borough that are not Christian to have Christian iconography displayed on government property,” she reportedly wrote, “a government that is supposed to represent all of the citizens, not just the majority.”In response to the complaint, Hazlett asked the local Knights of Columbus chapter, which owns the scene and has been displaying it at the borough buiding for 57 years, to remove it. The group obliged, and has since relocated the creche to a nearby business. That upset local Knights of Columbus member Robert Clark, who told the Observer-Reporter that the removal of the creche offends him.“I think that we have to show tolerance to one another,” Clark said. “It’s disrespectful to my rights, too.”According to the Canonsburg Borough website, a dozen people showed up at Monday night’s council meeting to protest the move. There, town Mayor David Rhome said he has received several calls questioning why the creche was moved, and asked the council to reconsider.Hmmm.....Pigs and dogs are offensive to me,lets remove them all?Article 18 0f the Human Rights states :"Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."How disrespectful is this lady? Read the full story here.More here.

This letter shows Sitcov’s obvious anger at the shenanigans of Pires, and the fact that a well-running mediation, that would have saved taxpayers billions, has been sabotaged. We also print the mediation letter dated a few months earlier that shows that Pires and the government were close to a relatively inexpensive solution to a large portion of the Pigford suit.Hmmmmm....Like the name "PigiLeaks" has a ring to it,sounds like more's to come.Read and see the full story here.

  • HT:BigGoverment.Pigford Witness Report: Applicant Claimed Discrimination by Nonexistent Chicago USDA Office, Was Paid Anyway. The burden of proof in Pigford was basically on us, the USDA, to prove that we didn’t discriminate against someone. How do you prove a negative like that? It’s really impossible.I was assigned to Washington for a while to process Pigford claims. We saw claims come in from affluent areas. There were claims from Palm Beach and Palm Springs, and they said they were black farmers. One applicant said they were discriminated against by the Department of Agriculture’s Chicago office. There is no USDA office in Chicago. They got paid anyway. There was a lot of pressure from Washington, D.C. to approve claims they knew were fraudulent or false. All people basically had to do was fill out a form. In Washington, D.C. they didn’t want to to hear about anything other than getting claims processed. I personally witnessed cases where the person in charge, [name redacted], a deputy administrator for farm loans, told us to tweak applications to help them get through. If they were missing information or something, we were supposed to add it to help them be approved. Some employees at USDA turned to the other side and saw a way to make money. In Pine Bluff Arkansas there was an employee that would recruit people and help them fill out the paperwork. They would take 50% of the Pigford money that someone would collect. The purpose of Pigford was to garner the vote, to buy black votes. It’s dangerous because we are segmenting society, pitting blacks, Hispanics and others against each other, we are fragmenting society, chiseling society.Hmmm......"The purpose of Pigford was to garner the vote, to buy black votes"Hmmm...to put (finance?) a certain black Senator who proposed the bill in the White House?Read the full story here.

  • HT:RightSideNews. After the Mosque: Jihad on the Home Front.2010 update on Islam in America and a must read for every American, excellent sourced material. We’re going to start with Robert Spencer. You have bios for all these people, at least short ones. So I’m not going to repeat them, except to say — Robert is a national treasure. His Jihad Watch is an indispensable resource for monitoring the sorts of things that we’re talking about today and that I know you’re all concerned about. His latest book — I think it’s the latest book, “Stealth Jihad” — not the latest book, I can’t keep up. One of his latest books, “Stealth Jihad,” is really an extraordinary prism through which to view all this, and I commend it to you.The Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf was presented, the Ground Zero mosque imam, as a great moderate and as a leader of an initiative that was designed to sew goodwill and harmony after 9/11, and to reverse, in his own words, what happened on 9/11. And yet, the more we found out about him, it came out — one after the other — more and more revelations that he was pro-Sharia, that he had openly agitated for Sharia. He openly agitated for Sharia in his book. He called for restrictions on the freedom of speech. He refused to denounce Hamas as a terrorist group. He has ties to a foundation that funded Osama bin Laden. He has ties to a group that was responsible for the jihad flotilla against Israel that was sent from Turkey. And so all these things came out. Also, his fanatical and absolutely adamantine immovability about this issue was in itself revealing — that he was all about harmony and reconciliation, building bridges, peace and understanding; and yet, Donald Trump came and offered him something like twice the market value for the building — he wouldn’t move. The Russian — the leader of the Russian Chess Federation came and offered him some exorbitant amount for the building — he wouldn’t move.He was appealed to by the Archbishop of New York and by other leading authorities in the area to move, out of harmony and goodwill and building bridges and understanding, and everything he was supposed to be about, and he wouldn’t.And in that was revealed the stealth jihad agenda — that it is intransigent, uncompromising. It is always pushing for concessions on our part and never willing to give a thing on their part, while adopting a pose of let’s build bridges and have cooperation and interfaith harmony and understanding, but we’re the only ones that always have to be on the giving side.
And now people are becoming aware of that.Hmmmm......Obama "Islam is a great religion". Read the full story here.

  • HT:CreepingSharia.Did New Zealand ban kosher slaughter fearing trade losses with Muslim nations? The effective banning of kosher slaughter, known as shechita, in New Zealand, has taken a new turn, with the New Zealand Herald reporting that Agriculture Minister David Carter, the architect of the ban, broke the rules governing his portfolio by considering trade implications when making the original decision.New Zealand newspaper, the Herald on Sunday, obtained a series of documents suggesting trade interests and a possible conflict of interest may have had a bearing on the decision, which were examined in a High Court judgement on whether or not to make the Minister available for cross-examination when the case comes to trial.Carter owns shares in one of New Zealand’s largest meat processors, Silver Fern Farms, and the Herald reports that the email correspondence it obtained suggests that he met with Silver Fern chairman Eoin Garden and chief executive Keith Cooper in March. In the meeting, according to an email from Ministerial private secretary Natalie Nesbitt, the two executives indicated that trade with Muslim countries might suffer if it emerged kosher meat was allowed to be produced in New Zealand, while restrictions were placed on halal slaughter.Hmmmm.....Lets sell our heritage? For the "Right' price off course.Read the full story here.

  • PLO: US failed, we'll turn to UN. Palestinians enraged by announcement on failure of talks aimed at resuming settlement construction freeze, alongside promise to resume indirect negotiations. 'Instead of declaring Israel responsible, the Americans are giving the Israelis an opportunity to waste more time,' says Yasser Abed Rabbo. The senior PLO official, whose stand represents the official Palestinian leadership, said the US failure proved that the exclusive American efforts had been utilized to the fullest and that "we must turn to the broader framework of the international community" – referring to the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council.Abed Rabbo expressed his wonder over the American administration's denouncement of Brazil and Argentina's decision to recognize a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. "It's unclear why instead of dealing with the Israeli policy thwarting the American effort, the US chooses to condemn Brazil and Argentina for recognizing an independent Palestinian state." • HT:Antisemmitisme.org.Turkey – Antisemitic features in an interview of Bulent Yildirim, leader of the Turkish IHH.Turkish IHH leader, Bulent Yildirim, who played a key role in the last Flotilla to Gaza, gave an interview to the Islamic Turkish newspaper 'Star', which is closely associated to the Turkish authorities. The interview focused on the events that surrounded the 'Marmara' boat and the developments that followed. The interview had two parts:In the interview's first part, Bulent Yildirim referred at length to the proposal of the American Congress to announce that the IHH is a terrorist organization. He again and again used an anti Semitic motive, claiming that the 'Zionists' (the term that is now used instead of 'Jews') control the United States, including the president, the Congress, the government and the media. He also claimed that 'Zionism' controls the medicine, weapon and media industries all over the world. In the second part of the interview, Yildirim referred to the 'Marmara' events. He repeatedly accused Israel of intentionally 'massacring' innocent passengers who, according to him, didn't carry any weapons. He also defended the aid given by the IHH to the Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and he threatened that IHH will not leave Israel alone until it removes its blockade of the Gaza Strip. Yildirim brought up the false claim that Israel had carried out the 'massacre' on the 'Marmara' in order to signal to Turkey that it is the real owner of the Mediterranean oil and gas capital (according to Yildirim, the location of the 'Marmara' attack is the exact place in which Israel wants to produce underwater gas). He also came up with a grotesque argument that Israel planned to attack Gaza and Lebanon and carry out a massacre there, and only the humanitarian aid organizations who organized the flotilla took measures to prevent that.Hmmm....It's a Zionist plot, thought for a while i heard Ahmadinejad speaking.Read the full story here.

  • Exchange student speaks out about classroom incident at Niceville High. When international exchange student Jawdat “J.D.” Kasab wrote “Death to America” on a board inside a Niceville High School classroom, he had no inkling of the havoc the phrase would cause. It wasn’t a threat. It wasn’t a promise. It was just a joke, he said.Jawdat, a Muslim, was sent back to his home in Israel on Friday evening after officials in the exchange program he was enrolled in told him he had been dismissed over the incident, which occurred about a month earlier.“I’m sorry that I did that,” Jawdat said during a phone call Monday from Israel. “I don’t want them to think I’m some kind of terrorist because the people who know me, they know I’m not. I’d like for them to give me another chance to come back and show them that I’m not.”“It was our cultural way to denounce the violence by making jokes about it,” Jawdat wrote. “Those jokes made us feel that we fight the terrorism and the violence.”Attempts to contact AYUSA to sort out the issue haven’t been fruitful, Jawdat said.“My program failed to com-municate with me and they never called me back,” he said, “which made me sad.”He and his father, Khaled Kasab Mahameed, went to the U.S. Embassy in Israel on Monday, and were given an appointment to speak with someone next week. The two spent the rest of the afternoon educating Palestinians about the persecution of Jews during World War II. The often controversial work is part of their family’s mission to create peace in their country through educating Muslims and Arabs about Jews. It’s a lesson, Mahameed said, officials at AYUSA would do well to remember.“If you want to control the subject of terrorism, what does that mean? You have to talk about it,” Mahameed said he will sue AYUSA if it doesn’t reconsider its decision about his son. Both Jawdat and his father want him to finish out the school year at Niceville High.“AYUSA is failing,” Mahameed said. “They didn’t do their duty … to teach students about what freedom means … . This is not education; this is not American culture.”Hmmmmm...it's the fault of the Americans?Read the full story here.

  • "The War on Christmas"Tulsa Council Votes on Parade. What’s in a name? Turns out, plenty of emotion. Last year, Tulsa’s Christmas Parade of Lights became the Holiday Parade of Lights, and controversy over the name change has not abated since. Today people who want the word Christmas restored to the name petitioned Tulsa City Council. Council members have the final say in the parade process. This morning, they were asked to approve the parade’s permit before the parade itself could go forward this Saturday. Councilors heard more than an hour of testimony, with seven people urging that the permit be denied, and five requesting that the parade be allowed to take place. but says parade applicants were sold a bill of goods. He claims the original parade applications he received were titled “Tulsa Christmas Parade of Lights.” Bowers said he didn’t know anything about the name change till recently. He told council members, “The parade organizers have offended us.” Bowers withdrew his alpacas from the parade. Senator James Inhofe is also sitting out the event. Parade organizer Larry Fox says 3 of the 65 to 70 parade participants have withdrawn because of the controversy. The application paperwork issue was just one of the issues mentioned during the council debate. Overall, opponents of the parade were incensed that Christmas would be taken from the name.the switch was made to be more inclusive and that anyone who wants to include Christmas on their floats or banners is free to do so. In the end, the majority of council voted to approve the parade permit-- with the Holiday name -- with a vote of 5-3.Hmmmmm....once you betray your ancestors and history ,you don't have much left to loose.Read the full story here.

  • Civilians flee as Philippine troops engage Muslim rebels in south.Hundreds of families in North Cotabato, southern Philippines have left their homes as government troops and Muslim rebel groups belonging to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) clash in the town of Pikit. The latest in the continuing fight between government troops and Muslim militants happened while government negotiators are finalizing the mechanics for the resumption of the stalled talks under the new administration of president Benigno Aquino III.Lt. Col. Domingo Gobway, a battalion commander, said militias and members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front clashed on Saturday afternoon in the town of Pikit in North Cotabato. The fierce gun battle lasted for five hours, prompting civilians, about 500 families, fled their homes in the village of Macabual for fear of their safety. Gobway said no one was reportedly hurt or killed on the government side.MILF is an Islamist group in southern Philippines whose original goal was to establish a separate state for Muslims in the predominantly Christian country in Southeast Asia.Recent developments of the southern Philippine insurgency indicate a softening of the hard line stance favoring the pursuit of a sub state likened to a U.S. State instead of independence from the Philippines. The Muslim sub state will not exercise power over national defense, foreign affairs, currency and coinage, and postal services, which the central government exercises. The proposed sub state will not have its own armed forces but instead will have troops for internal security. Preparations for the new rounds of talks with the Muslim rebel group are on-going under the new administration of president Aquino.

It is also responsible for scores of terrorist actions targeting Israelis, including rocket launchings against civilian population centers. Hezbollah's attacks against the Israeli north in 2006 killed 43 Israeli civilians and wounded more than 4,000. And the State Department officially designates Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. Still, a State Department cable from the U.S. embassy in Damascus referred to Hezbollah's "armed resistance" against the Jewish state. The State Department correspondence is not the first time government officials referred to Hezbollah as a "resistance" organization. WND has reported multiple times how Condoleezza Rice, when she was secretary of state, publicly called both Hamas and Hezbollah "resistance" movements. WND also reported in a May 2008 interview with the New York Times, Obama stated both Hamas and Hezbollah have "legitimate claims" that are being "weakened" by the violence the terror groups carry out. Also, at a press conference in August at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, Brennan declared, "Hezbollah started out as purely a terrorist organization back in the early '80s and has evolved significantly over time. • Report: Israel agrees to offer ‘apology’ to Turkey.Israel has agreed in principle to offer an apology and pay compensation to Turkey for normalization of bilateral relations which have severely deteriorated since the killing of Turkish citizens in an Israeli raid on an aid flotilla in May, a leading Israeli daily reported on Tuesday. “Israel agreed in principle to apologize and pay compensation, and the Turks agreed that if these two aspects are adhered to they would ‘normalize’ relations with Israel and return their ambassador to Tel Aviv. Nonetheless, both the apology and compensation remain problematic from legal and political perspectives,” English-language daily newspaper Haaretz reported, referring to the content of talks held between senior Turkish and Israeli diplomats on Sunday and Monday in Geneva.Officials at the Turkish Foreign Ministry refused on Tuesday to comment on the content of talks held between Ambassador Feridun Sinirlioğlu, undersecretary of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, and Yosef Ciechanover, the Israeli representative on the UN committee investigating the Gaza flotilla incident. The same officials also refused to make any comment on Haaretz’s report, without denying or confirming the report. The Geneva talks were initiated after Turkey last week, on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s orders, sent fire-fighting aircraft to assist in the battle against a devastating fire in Israel.Erdoğan reiterated on Tuesday that there can be no “new era” in ties with Israel until it apologizes and offers compensation for its deadly raid, while stating that Israel must also end its blockade of Gaza.Hmmmmm......"Apologise" for defending your own country doesn't sound right to me?Read the full story here.

  • Bachmann, Kline: Obama’s not saying ‘God’ enough.Republican Reps. Michele Bachmann and John Kline, as part of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, chastised President Obama for not portraying America as a more Christian-like nation to the rest of the world. In a letter on Monday, the caucus complained that Obama omitted the word “God” five times during his recent trip to Indonesia and called on him to correct the record. The caucus wrote that Obama used e pluribus unum (“out of many, one,” in Latin) as the motto of the United States instead of “In God We Trust.” While e pluribus unum is part of the nation’s seal and has been an unofficial motto since the country’s founding, the group was upset he didn’t use “In God we Trust” in its place.“Additionally,” the caucus wrote, “during three separate events this fall, when quoting from the Declaration of Independence, you mentioned that we have inalienable rights but you consistently failed to mention the source of those rights. The Declaration of Independence definitively recognizes God, our Creator, as the source of those rights.”The group said not mentioning God could have consequences for freedom.“By making these kinds of statements to the rest of the world, you are removing on the the cornerstones of our secure freedom,” the caucus wrote. “If we pull the thread of religious conviction out of the marketplace of ideas, we unravel the tapestry of freedom that birthed America.”Hmmmm.....finally thank God, someone speaks up!Read the full story here.

  • HT:LisaGraas.Soros-Funded Group’s Political Director Calls for Subversive Activity During Christmas Masses. This verse from Scripture will be read at Midnight Mass, December 25, in Catholic churches across America. For radicals in the pews, however, the light focused on will be the light coming from their smartphone screens as they communicate with each other and report to Aniello Alioto, political director of the George Soros-funded Progress Now, any “hostile activity” in the form of priests explaining Catholic teaching on the family and marriage.George Soros’ Counterfeit Catholicism is decidedly no longer limited to public political discourse. Now reaching directly into Catholic parishes, the radical subversion of the Catholic Church holds nothing sacred. Not even Christmas Mass.Thomas Peters of Catholic Vote first reported about a letter sent by Aniello Alioto to members of Catholics for Equality, a group that seeks to cause division in the Catholic Church here in America on issues related to homosexuality and marriage.Let’s be clear what Alioto is saying: their organization plans to encourage its membership during Christmas to bring their phones to Church and to “report” from the pew whenever a priest or bishop dares to preach about the family or issues related to marriage, and to conduct fundraising in our sacred spaces. It’s hard to imagine a more intrusive attempt to undermine the freedom of Catholic parishes and pastors to preach what the Church teaches to Catholics who are already constantly maligned outside of Mass about their views. Catholics for Equality has decided to take their fight against the Church into the very heart of our sacred worship spaces.Besides announcing new smartphone apps designed to help with this subversion, Alioto’s letter claims that activists “don’t need the consent of our hierarchy” to behave in this manner at Mass. This could not be further from the truth. According to Canon Law, specifically Canon 528, Section 2, any priest, “under the authority of the diocesan Bishop” is within his rights to remove from the church building anyone who causes distraction from the “devout celebration of the sacraments.”Hmmmm.....Where are "the good old days" when you had a guard to keep the peace in the Church?Read the full story here.

  • Indonesia: Sharia Police Forcing Women to Undergo “Virginity Tests”…Islamic sharia laws in Indonesia's Aceh province have been used by vigilante groups to harass and intimidate locals, a Human Rights Watch report says. The rights group has detailed evidence that the laws are often selectively enforced and rarely applied to wealthy or politically connected individuals. Its report says sharia police sometimes force women and girls to get "virginity tests".Christen Broecker from Human Rights Watch says in one extreme case a woman was raped by sharia police while in detention. "The Aceh authorities should be commended because they did apprehend two of the three sharia policemen accused of raping this woman," she told Radio Australia's Connect Asia."They prosecuted them and they sent them to prison.Ms Broecker says virginity tests are a gender-specific form of torture under international law and a practice that both the sharia police and the provincial government in Aceh have defended. She says women in Aceh can also be apprehended not just for failing to wear a veil but for wearing clothing sharia police consider tight."And there still does not seem to be a clear definition of what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in their view," Ms Broecker said.Read the full story here.

In an interrogation room at Newark Liberty airport, he was grilled about his role in Wikileaks, the whistle-blower group that has exposed the government's most closely guarded intelligence reports about the war in Afghanistan. The agents photocopied his receipts, seized three of his cellphones — he owns more than a dozen — and confiscated his computer. They informed him that he was under government surveillance. They questioned him about the trove of 91,000 classified military documents that Wikileaks had released the week before, a leak that Vietnam-era activist Daniel Ellsberg called "the largest unauthorized disclosure since the Pentagon Papers." They demanded to know where Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, was hiding. They pressed him on his opinions about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Appelbaum refused to answer. • HT:AhmadiyyaTimes.Faith and Common Sense: The blasphemer must not be pardoned.Allah has very, very explicitly said in the very beginning of the Quran that whosoever kills one human being is guilty of killing the entire humanity. Thus, by wanting to kill humans in the name of the Prophet (PBUH), these mullahs, in letter and spirit, want to launch an insane jihad against AllahHundreds of mullahs have taken to the streets to warn against the possible pardon President Zardari might grant Aasia Bibi, who allegedly blasphemed against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They say that if Aasia Bibi, the Christian blasphemer, is pardoned, they will launch a jihad against the government and the entire world and kill all the blasphemers. Aasia Bibi must not be pardoned. Otherwise, the lives of around five billion humans might be jeopardised. And now the Lahore High Court has also passed an order on the petition of a private citizen that the president cannot pardon Aasia Bibi because the case is sub judice. Why do mullahs so fanatically react to each case of perceived or alleged blasphemy? The logic is very simple. Non-Muslims have, roughly speaking, two views of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): (1) they (for instance, Christians and Jews) do not consider him to be a prophet at all, and (2) they (Hindus, Buddhists, and the rest) are not bothered about the issue at all. Now this is not acceptable as far as our furious mullahs are concerned. They demand that the world positively accept him to be the last prophet. Which effectively means that non-Muslims either convert or be ready for the sword. Was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) the last prophet of Islam or the world? This is a tricky issue, which the mullahs are not prepared to deal with. If he were the last prophet of Islam, then it would be unfair on our part to force non-Muslims to accept him as the last prophet of Islam. If prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was the last prophet of humankind, then we must look for guidance in the Holy Quran. And if the Holy Quran says that he was the last prophet of humanity, then we must seek guidance from the Book of Allah and see if Allah instructs us Muslims to wage a jihad against those who deny Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) prophetic finality. If Allah gives no such an instruction, then we Muslims must fear His wrath because Allah has very, very explicitly said in the very beginning of the Quran that whosoever kills one human being is guilt of killing the entire humanity. Thus, by wanting to kill humans in the name of the Prophet (PBUH), these mullahs, in letter and spirit, want to launch an insane jihad against Allah. But my plea that Aasia Bibi must not be pardoned is based upon a different logic. If Aasia Bibi is pardoned, it would establish her guilt. The president of Pakistan has a constitutional privilege to pardon anyone who has been punished for some offence. Now this implies that the person pardoned is indeed guilty. Thus, it would mean that Aasia Bibi did, in fact, commit a crime of immensely heinous nature, which resulted in the death penalty verdict against her.Hmmmm.....This is the first intelligent summary i've seen on this tragic story.Read the full story here.

  • Secret GOP plan: Push states to declare bankruptcy and smash unions.Congressional Republicans appear to be quietly but methodically executing a plan that would a) avoid a federal bailout of spendthrift states and b) cripple public employee unions by pushing cash-strapped states such as California and Illinois to declare bankruptcy. This may be the biggest political battle in Washington, my Capitol Hill sources tell me, of 2011. In a recent issue of the The Weekly Standard, bankruptcy expert David Skeel of the University of Pennsylvania walks through the implications:The bankruptcy law should give debtor states even more power to rewrite union contracts, if the court approves. Interestingly, it is easier to renegotiate a burdensome union contract in municipal bankruptcy than in a corporate bankruptcy. Vallejo has used this power in its bankruptcy case, which was filed in 2008. It is possible that a state could even renegotiate existing pension benefits in bankruptcy, although this is much less clear and less likely than the power to renegotiate an ongoing contract.Hmmmm.....Sounds very tempting to me.Read the full story here.

You know you have to read it for school,'" Taylor told FoxNews.com. "But finally he came home one day and said ‘I'm not reading this book, I'm done reading this book, I am not reading any more of this book,' and he slammed it down and said, ‘This is junk!'"Taylor asked her son to show her what was so bad about the book and after he pointed out a few controversial excerpts she decided to read it in full."I finished the book that night, I could not put it down because I was just mortified by the take on this book as well as the language, and the Jesus Christian bashing was unbelievable to me, and that it was in our school was just amazing to me," she said."We've eliminated Christmas, we've eliminated all these things because we don't want to step on anyone's toes but here we're going to hand out this book? … This is anti-God, anti-religion, it's racial, I mean it crosses a wide spectrum of very touchy and very insulting issues to most human beings and I think that even with a parental consent it's not enough. Calling Pakistan the melting pot of terror, Nicolas Sarkozy repeatedly said it was unacceptable the way that country was subverting the security of India as well as Afghanistan.Speaking in French, which was translated for the media, Sarkozy thundered, "The Mumbai attack proved one more time that terrorism is nothing but criminal activity. It pretends to act for political or religious objectives, but it is just savagery. It pretends to serve ideals but it injures them through its acts." In his 20-minute speech, he said, "It is unacceptable that India's security can be threatened by terrorists acting from neighbouring countries. It is unacceptable for Afghanistan and for our troops that the Taliban and al-Qaida find safe haven in the border regions of Pakistan. We know the price that the Pakistani people are paying for terrorism, but it is unacceptable for the world that terrorist acts should be masterminded and carried out by terrorist groups in Pakistan... I call on all Pakistani authorities to step up their efforts and show that they are resolute in combating these criminals."What was expected to be a brief formal statement condemning the Mumbai attacks turned out to be an emotional show of solidarity with a martyred city that awaits justice. • Asia Bibi:battle continues to change the blasphemy law.The battle to amend the blasphemy law continues. Lahore High Court Bar Association general house yesterday unanimously adopted a resolution asking the federal government not to make any amendment in section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code, which provides for death penalty or life imprisonment for blasphemy. The house resolved that no change should be made in the blasphemy law and federal government should not bow to international pressure in this regard. The resolution read that national and international media, eminent personalities have launched a propaganda campaign to compel the government to amend the blasphemy law. While waiting for the Lahore High Court to fix the date for the hearing of Asia Bibi’s appeal, who was sentenced to death for blasphemy, there are growing concerns that the woman may be victim of an attack. A total of 46 people were killed extra judicially in Pakistan during 1990-2010 following charges of blasphemy. The information obtained revealed that 28 of those killed were Christians and 24 were killed in the Punjab, the region where Asia Bibi lives.28 of the murdered people were Christians, 15 Muslims, two Ahmadis and one a Hindu. All these people accused, of crimes under the blasphemy laws, were either killed extra judicially or found dead in prison under dubious circumstances.Meanwhile, the Christians MPs of Punjab have made a silent protest outside Parliament because the Speaker of the Parliament Assembly Rana Iqbal Ahmed prevented them from taking the floor on the case of Asia Bibi, saying it was a "sensitive" argument. But later, when Ali Haider Noor Niazi of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, an Islamic religious party, spoke with great vehemence on the subject he was not stopped by the Speaker.

  • HT:BigPeace.‘Mainstream’ Islamist Group Wants ‘Global Caliphate’ and Islamist America. The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is preaching a global Caliphate and Islamic Shari’a law over America to its members, according to the 2010 ICNA Member’s Hand Book. This is a very different message than the group’s public outreach efforts, and contradicts claims that the organization is a tolerant, mainstream Islamic group. As the hand book spells out, the organization’s ultimate goal is “the Establishment of Islam” as the sole basis of global society and governance. It also encourages members to deceive people in its proselytizing campaign to help fulfill this goal. This aim is one that ICNA has been actively pursuing as the group has set its sights on America’s constitutional separation of religion and state. As the hand book explains, ICNA doesn’t just believe that religion is a private affair. “Establishment of the Religion” extends beyond the individual and family and into the society, state, and world. “These words [Establishment of the Religion] include not only practicing the religion in individual and collective life and propagating its true teaching to others, but also striving to make this Deen [religion] a way of life for all,” the hand book reads.ICNA’s charter is even more explicit. It calls for the “establishment of the Islamic system of life” in the world, “whether it pertains to beliefs, rituals and morals or to economic, social or political spheres.”For ICNA, this means being the American branch of a global phenomenon that they refer to as the ‘Islamic Movement.’ The 2010 Hand Book notes, branches of this movement “are active in various parts of the world to achieve the same objectives. It is our obligation as Muslims to engage in the same noble cause here in North America.”Working in an ‘Islamic Movement’ culminates in an Islamic super-state, the Caliphate, the hand book says. Believers have an obligation to strive to reestablish a collective body of Muslims worldwide, organized into the super-state under the direction of a Caliphate and Islamic law. The group wants “the united Muslim Ummah [community] in a united Islamic state, governed by an elected khalifah in accordance with the laws of shari’ah.”Hmmm....."We don't want to take over your country"Yeah whatevah!!Read the full Al-taqiyya a.k.a. • Wow. So, Obama got a little testy. He really doesn’t like when his base challenges or questions.Wow. I'm actually a bit shocked. What I learned from this train wreck of a press conference is that it's not Rahm, folks. It's him. He actually believes this shit. He actually thinks that a head of state caving into the demands of terrorists, pardon me, "hostage takers," is a virtue. And he freely admits it. Wow. He actually believes this shit. He actually believes that his penchant for caving, his fear and loathing of fighting for anything he claims to believe in, is a virtue. It's absolutely shocking. And finally, he's itching for a fight? No he's not. And the Republicans know it. He just freaking admitted that if they take hostages, he's going to cave. I'm speechless. Did nobody in the White House think of telling him that the President of the United States doesn't admit that official American policy is to cave to hostage takers, lest they take even more hostages in the future? Dear Lord. He won't fight. He never fights. I'm sorry, but it's open season on this guy now. He is congenitally unable to fight for anything, and considers it a badge of honor. Good luck with that in 2012.Wow. So, Obama got a little testy. He really doesn't like when his base challenges or questions him. But, we don't think he tries. Or as Glenn Greenwald tweeted: The most intense passion Obama exhibits is when he gets to explain why the Left is so misguided: he really lights up; it's inspiringUPDATE:@ 2:55PM FROM JOHN: Dear God. He's serious. He actually thinks that fighting is useless, it's only symbolic, it gets you nothing. Dear God. He then went on to say that this reminds him of the fight over the public option. No shit, Sherlock. It sure does. Oh this is good, now he's saying that the NYT editorial page doesn't "permeate" across America. Excuse me, but you just admitted that the entire country was on your side. Now you're claiming that old "I'm powerless" cop out again. Good God.Hmmm...the guy clearly needs a vacation?Read the full debacle here.HT:Alwyn.

  • The Latest On The Mysterious insurance.aes256 File. But WikiLeaks hasn't been on its own, and an equally massive counterattack is in the offing. There has arisen over Twitter a groundswell of online support in both very peaceful and very destructive ways. On the one hand, there have been the #imwikileaks and #imassange trends, the Twitter equivalent of a sit-in, but the likes of which have not been seen since the postelection troubles in Iran during the summer of 2009 (there is speculation that Twitter is censoring all WikiLeaks-related trends, which the company denies. This is to say nothing of the virus-like duplication of the WikiLeaks site itself, with as many as 507 mirror sites. On the other hand, though, Operation Payback, a hacktivist wing of the secretive Anonymous meme-movement, began launching its own wave of DDOS assaults against PayPal and PostFinance. Rumors have it that the Jester has also been "taken out," electronically speaking, as his Twitter has fallen silent. And then early this week there emerged the threat from Assange himself that he would reveal the password for insurance.aes256 -- the contents of which his lawyers says would be the informational equivalent of a "thermo-nuclear device."Hmmm... i don't think it will be released so quickly, first "They" want to know what he knows.Read the full story here.

  • Don't shoot messenger for revealing uncomfortable truths.WIKILEAKS deserves protection, not threats and attacks.IN 1958 a young Rupert Murdoch, then owner and editor of Adelaide's The News, wrote: "In the race between secrecy and truth, it seems inevitable that truth will always win."His observation perhaps reflected his father Keith Murdoch's expose that Australian troops were being needlessly sacrificed by incompetent British commanders on the shores of Gallipoli. The British tried to shut him up but Keith Murdoch would not be silenced and his efforts led to the termination of the disastrous Gallipoli campaign.Nearly a century later, WikiLeaks is also fearlessly publishing facts that need to be made public.I grew up in a Queensland country town where people spoke their minds bluntly. They distrusted big government as something that could be corrupted if not watched carefully. The dark days of corruption in the Queensland government before the Fitzgerald inquiry are testimony to what happens when the politicians gag the media from reporting the truth. These things have stayed with me. WikiLeaks was created around these core values. The idea, conceived in Australia, was to use internet technologies in new ways to report the truth.WikiLeaks coined a new type of journalism: scientific journalism. We work with other media outlets to bring people the news, but also to prove it is true. Scientific journalism allows you to read a news story, then to click online to see the original document it is based on. That way you can judge for yourself: Is the story true? Did the journalist report it accurately? In its landmark ruling in the Pentagon Papers case, the US Supreme Court said "only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government". The swirling storm around WikiLeaks today reinforces the need to defend the right of all media to reveal the truth.Hmmm...."And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free".John 8:32.Read the full story here.

  • Judge Tosses Suit Aimed at Keeping Al-Awlaki Off Hit List.WASHINGTON -- A federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit aimed at preventing the United States from targeting U.S.-born anti-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki on a capture-or-kill hit list. U.S. District Judge John Bates said in a written opinion that al-Awlaki's father does not have the authority to sue to stop the United States from killing his son. But Bates also said the "unique and extraordinary case" raises serious issues about whether the United States can plan to kill one of its own citizens without judicial review. Al-Awlaki has urged Muslims to kill Americans. He also has been linked to last year's shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, and the attempted bombing of a U.S.-bound flight last Christmas. He is believed to be hiding in Yemen and has issued videos online repeatedly calling for Muslims to kill Americans.Bates, an appointee of President George W. Bush and Army veteran, seemed tempted to take on the legal issues but said he must dismiss the case because Anwar al-Awlaki did not bring the suit. "The serious issues regarding the merits of the alleged authorization of the targeted killing of a U.S. citizen overseas must await another day or another nonjudicial forum," he wrote. Bates said the case raised "vital considerations of national security and of military and foreign affairs." Among them, he wrote, were why courts have authority to approve surveillance of Americans overseas but not their killing and whether the president can order the assassination of a U.S. citizen without "any form of judicial process whatsoever, based on the mere assertion that he is a dangerous member of a terrorist organization.Hmmmm....Judge-Jury and executioner?Read the full story here.

  • NYC Taxi Drivers Urged to Use Racial Profiling in Passenger Pickups. The federal government refuses to profile airline passengers, but New York City taxi drivers are being urged to profile potential passengers before giving them rides.Following an attack on a New York taxi driver, the head of the city's taxi-drivers' union is urging cabbies to "profile your passengers; it's very important." Fernando Mateo, president of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, gave that advice at a press conference Saturday outside the hospitial where the cabbie is in serious condition, the New York Post reported."I don't care about racial profiling. You know, sometimes it is good we are racially profiled, because the God's honest truth is that 99 percent of the people that are robbing, stealing, killing these drivers are blacks and Hispanics," said Mateo, who is Hispanic and has a black father. "So if you see suspicious activity, you know what? Don't pick that person up."Read the full story here.

  • U.S.: Accused Mexico Hit Boy Is American.A 14-year-old boy known as "El Ponchis" and accused of participating in four beheadings for a Mexican drug cartel is an American citizen, the U.S. State Department said Monday."We have confirmed the boy's U.S. citizenship but can't say anything more about the boy's situation in the absence of a (provisional arrest warrant) signed by at least one of the parents," Gini Staub, spokeswoman for the State Department, told CNN.Morelos Gov. Marco Adame Castillo has said the boy was born in San Diego, California, and Mexican officials were researching whether he has dual nationality. A U.S. Embassy official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to embassy policy, said earlier that American officials had not confirmed his citizenship.A judge in Mexico had ruled Sunday the boy would be tried under a state juvenile law that carries a maximum of just three years in prison if convicted. Many youths have been used by drug cartels, but the story of El Ponchis may be the most shocking. A YouTube video that emerged a month ago sparked talk of a child hit man -- said by some to be as young as 12."I participated in four executions, but I did it drugged and under threat that if I didn't, they would kill me," the boy said when he was handed over to the federal prosecutor Friday.Authorities identified the curly haired suspect only by his first name, Edgar.Despite apparently being born in the United States, he grew up in a poor, urban neighborhood packed with businesses near the city of Cuernavaca, where the people who knew him said everyone called him El Ponchis since he was 4, although no one knew why.Hmmm...learned his "trade" in Mexico? How many more like him come back to the USA?Read the full story here.

  • Obama: On the way to a failed presidency?Ronald Reagan famously quipped that the Democratic Party left him before he left the party. Like many progressive supporters of Barack Obama, I'm beginning to have the same feeling about this president. Consider what we've seen since the shellacking Democrats took in the fall elections. The stakes are much higher than the distant election. The president has suggested unconvincingly that he'd prefer to be a successful one-term president than a two-term president who didn't get anything done. But there are other alternatives. If the president continues on his current course, we're looking at a failed one-term presidency that the nation cannot afford. This isn't about conventional politics. This is simply about the fate and future of our country. This president has a clear and imperative historic mandate. If he shirks it, he risks more than failing to get reelected. He risks a failed presidency.Hmmmm....just look at the debt and unemployed of the country and you know the answer!Read the full story here.

  • HT:TheDailyBeast. The Real Lesson of Pearl Harbor. On the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attacks, Flags of Our Fathers author James Bradley explains how the U.S. under Teddy Roosevelt first meddled in Asian affairs—and why we’re playing a dangerous game in doing so again.I always assumed that my father—John Bradley—had raised two American flags on the island of Iwo Jima because of the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor 69 years ago today. But unbeknownst to my dad, 88 years before Pearl Harbor, the U.S. Navy had eyed Iwo Jima as a potential staging area for naval operations aimed at China. In 1853, U.S. Navy warships entered the North Pacific with the largest show of naval power the area had ever seen. The three neighboring countries—Japan, Korea, and China—had been at peace with one another for centuries. The Navy’s goal in 1853 was to make Japan into what a Japanese prime minister later called “America’s unsinkable aircraft carrier in the Pacific” in order to compete for influence in nearby China. The pretext given to the American public was that the Navy was on a humanitarian mission to halt mistreatment of American whalers shipwrecked on Japanese shores.Read the full story here.

  • HT:TheDailyBeast.Walmart's Women Go to War.Can the largest sex-discrimination case in history get a fair hearing before the Roberts court? Michelle Goldberg on how conservative judicial activism threatens women’s rights. The fate of the largest sex discrimination case in history, against the largest employer in the United States, now rests with a Supreme Court given to right-wing judicial activism. Walmart, the world’s biggest company, is currently facing a class-action lawsuit on behalf of hundreds of thousands of women who, the suit claims, have been paid less than male colleagues and routinely passed over for promotions. The company is arguing that these women don’t constitute a class, and that if they want to sue, they have to do so individually. So far, courts have ruled against Walmart. But yesterday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear Walmart’s appeal. Its ruling could have profound effects not just on the women of Walmart, but on the ability of all women to seek redress for sex discrimination. There is reason to be very worried.Read the full story here.
