  • HT:BacktoBasics.Pakistan Could Be Obama’s Biggest Blunder.President Barack Obama has been so preoccupied with the November elections that he has shamefully neglected foreign policy. This is especially true with regard to Pakistan — a nuclear nation that could soon tumble into the hands of Muslim extremists who want to buy a one-way ticket to paradise by killing Infidels.Despite deficits that have mounted into the trillions of dollars, the Obama administration has been downright miserly towards Pakistan. The result is a fractured Pakistan that may yet be swallowed up by jihad.According to The Express Tribune, “It is an undeniable fact that a revolution is coming in Pakistan.”Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Vatican Synod: the grim reality of the Christians of Arabia, where "there is no religious freedom".In countries where Islam is the state religion, no Muslim can convert (but Christians can become Mohammedans),where there is freedom of worship, it is limited and only in designated places. In Lebanon, Christian united among confessions, but divided politically."No religious freedom” for Christians living in Arabia, even when they are allowed (not in Saudi Arabia) to have a church. In Lebanon, however, the Arab country where the Christian presence is proportionately greater and has the constitutional and political implications (the President of the Republic is a Christian) they are united among confessions, but divided politically. These are the two experiences that have had the greatest impact yesterday at the Synod of Bishops on the Middle East, where bishops interventions continue, while work begins on the "circuli minores," the study groups.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Ahmadinejad Speaks at Israel's Doorsteps.President Who said Jewish State Should be "Wiped Off the Map" Shows Solidarity with Hezbollah on Symbolic Lebanon Visit.Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad came to the doorstep of his archenemy Israel Thursday, telling thousands of Hezbollah supporters in a Lebanese border town he was proud of their struggle as Israeli helicopters buzzed the skies along the frontier. The U.S. and Israel have called Ahmadinejad's visit to the border a provocation that undermines Lebanon's sovereignty.Iran, whose ties to Hezbollah date back nearly 30 years, funds the militant group to the tune of millions of dollars a year and is believed to supply much of its arsenal. Hezbollah boasts widespread support among Shiites and virtually runs a state-within-a-state in Shiite areas of Lebanon. "You proved that your resistance, your patience, your steadfastness, were stronger than all the tanks and warplanes of the enemy," Ahmadinejad said at the rally in Bint Jbeil, about two miles (four kilometers) from the border. "The people of Iran will remain by your side, and all the people in this region," he added.Read the full story here.Click here for comments

  • Beheadings, hangings plague Tijuana amid festival.A rash of decapitations and other gruesome killings have hit Tijuana since Mexican President Felipe Calderon visited the border city last week and called it a success in his drug war.The most recent killing occurred just before midnight Tuesday when motorists found a decapitated body underneath a bridge on a road leading to the beachside neighborhood of Playas de Tijuana, according to a police report Wednesday.Reporters at the scene saw a rope hanging from the bridge, suggesting the man had been hung from his feet but was too heavy and plunged into oncoming traffic. The discovery came a day after two other beheaded bodies were found hanging from their feet in Tijuana.Police said they were still conducting forensic tests on the body found Tuesday and had no immediate comment on the identity of the man or the circumstances of his death.Earlier Tuesday, police found a human head inside a bag in another Tijuana neighborhood, but it did not belong to the body found underneath the bridge.According to police reports, at least 16 people have been killed in the city since Sunday — a surge from the normal rate of about two homicides a day.Worst Christmas gift idea for 2010 A trip to Mexico?Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:TeaandPolitics.Pakistan:Jamaat e Islami chief slams Pope Benedict's statement against Political Islam. The Jamaat e Islami cheif, Syed Munawar Hasan, has strongly reacted to the Vatican statement declaring the promotion of political Islam as a great threat, and said that the Vatican had also joined the crusade already going on against Islam and the Muslims.Commenting on the Vatican statement, he said this showed that the entire talk of inter-faith dialogue and relations and tolerance were a farce. He said the world peace and the Middle East were threatened by the US- Israel collusion while Islam, the Islamic civilization and the Muslim masses were the target of biased Christian rulers, and now the Christian religious leaders too had joined them. The JI chief explained that Islam had its own political system, its culture and civilization, besides also delivering an economic system based on equity and service to the humanity. He berated the way the Western civilization and the capitalistic system had divided the humanity had added to poverty and started an arms race. Now a report appears to show that the simple medicine of putting one foot in front of another is a potential defence against dementia and Alzheimer's.Walking may protect the brain against shrinking and preserve memory in the elderly, according to research by US neurologists who monitored 300 volunteers over 13 years. The data lends statistical authority to anecdotal findings, including the legendary perambulations of Alfred Wainwright, Benny Rothman and the Guardian's Harry Griffin.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Rape 'impossible' in marriage, says Muslim cleric.A senior Muslim cleric who runs the country's largest network of sharia courts has sparked controversy by claiming that there is no such thing as rape within marriage.Sheikh Maulana Abu Sayeed, president of the Islamic Sharia Council in Britain, said that men who rape their wives should not be prosecuted because "sex is part of marriage". And he claimed that many married women who alleged rape were lying. His comments have angered senior police officers, who say that such statements undermine the work they do to encourage women to report rape, a notoriously under-reported crime. He told the website: "Clearly there cannot be any rape within the marriage. Maybe aggression, maybe indecent activity... Because when they got married, the understanding was that sexual intercourse was part of the marriage, so there cannot be anything against sex in marriage. Of course, if it happened without her desire, that is no good, that is not desirable.Later he told this newspaper: "In Islamic sharia, rape is adultery by force. So long as the woman is his wife, it cannot be termed as rape. It is reprehensible, but we do not call it rape."British law was changed in 1991, making rape within marriage illegal.Dave Whatton, Chief Constable of Cheshire and spokesman on rape for the Association of Chief Police Officers, said: "We know that the majority of rapes do not take place through strangers attacking women late at night but between acquaintances and within marriages and partnerships."It is a fundamental principle that sharia law should not replace the laws of the UK. Putting out views that rape can be dealt with in another way fundamentally undermines everything we are trying to do."The cleric's comments come just days after Germaine Greer suggested that rape victims should name and shame their attackers online instead of reporting it to the police.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:SultanKnish. The Vanishing Christians of the Middle East. The Synod of Bishops for the Middle East is meant to address the decline of Christians in the Muslim world. The reason for the decline is obvious. It is the willingness to discuss that reason which is at issue.Christians in the Middle East are a minority in a Muslim region. Even the more moderate Muslim countries, such as Egypt, marginalize Christians and routinely deprive them of basic civil rights. Egypt is an American ally and nearly 10 percent of the country is Christian, yet that 10 percent live as second-class citizens, discriminated against and constantly subject to violence. The rising tide of Islamization has made it more dangerous than ever to be a non-Muslim in a Muslim country, in ways that range from everyday discrimination to terrorist attacks. But the West is suffused by a narrative which insists that Islam is tolerant and promotes tolerance. Such a false narrative makes it extremely difficult to address or recognize the problem.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • What's next for net neutrality debate?Net neutrality is at a standstill. On the campaign trail, an open Internet was one of President Barack Obama’s top technology priorities. Over the past five months, telecom and Internet companies have taken multiple stabs at coming up with a compromise for the controversial issue. But it was all for naught — at least for now. Talks fell apart at the Federal Communications Commission over the summer. Last month, the latest effort to craft a legislative fix failed when Republicans refused to support a proposal by House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.).So what’s next? Here’s how the parties view the current state of play — and how they hope to move ahead.Congress: Waxman said he would “not close the door on moving legislation this Congress” on Net neutrality, adding that “cooler heads may prevail after the elections.”Cooler heads being a rare commodity in Washington these days, there’s no guarantee the politics will be less tricky after Nov. 2. If Democrats retain control of the House, Republicans may be willing to revisit the proposal, sources say. But if Republicans gain control of the House, they’ll probably want to come up with their own set of ground rules.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:PajamasMedia.Congressional Muslim Staffers Hosted Second Al-Qaeda Cleric on Capitol Hill.a recent New York Post article about how Johnson’s former employer, Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY), complained to Homeland Security in 2006 about the questioning of another al-Qaeda-linked cleric, Anwar Hajjaj, stated that Hajjaj was then leading prayers for the Muslim staffers on Capitol Hill.In fact, Meeks invoked Hajjaj’s continued presence on the Hill to demonstrate that he was a “highly regarded” Islamic scholar. The presence of two al-Qaeda clerics on Capitol Hill — hosted by Muslim congressional staffers — is problematic on several levels. As we see in Rep. Meeks’ intervention in Hajjaj’s case, it is his involvement with Muslim staffers on the Hill that was invoked to demonstrate his acceptability. Thus, these high-level government contacts give these terror-tied clerics legitimacy and cover from media and public scrutiny.Another deleterious effect was identified by a group of Muslim leaders who spoke on Capitol Hill earlier this month, hosted by Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC), who complained that the mainstreaming of terror-tied Islamic clerics by government officials ends up crowding-out the voices of true moderate leaders — many of whom have been openly critical of Muslim Brotherhood-backed infiltration efforts. But the stories of al-Qaeda clerics Anwar al-Awlaki and Anwar Hajjaj leading prayers on Capitol Hill raise even more questions about who else the Congressional Muslim Staff Association has been hosting in the People’s House. That’s a question members of Congress and other media outlets ought to be asking.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:Memri.Qatari Columnist: Obama's Policy Undermines the Moderate Arab Regimes. In a recent article in the Qatari daily Al-Arab, columnist Sayyed Muhammad Al-Khadher called to reassess the image of former U.S. president George W. Bush and his policies. He explained that Bush's policy of condemning and isolating the resistance camp had strengthened the moderate Arab regimes, whereas the policy of openness towards this camp, employed by the current president, Barack Obama, is weakening the U.S.'s allies in the Middle East and undermining America's own interests and status there. [For example,] Fatah's threats to withdraw from the U.S.-sponsored negotiations [with Israel] have become a commonplace phenomenon... Israel [too] sees Obama as a weak president who cannot fulfill [the needs] of the Hebrew state, even though he has promised to protect it from any danger... "It seems, therefore, that history is rapidly doing justice to Bush. His leaving [the White House] was [actually] a disaster for the Arabs. Israel [too] was sorry to see him go, and the Americans [themselves] are apprehensive. It turns out that he was liked by everyone."Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:JawaReport.Minneapolis imam condemns interfaith gathering where Muslims mingled with Christians and Jews. The Sept. 28 multi-faith prayer service seemed innocuous enough. Christian, Jewish, Hindu and other religious leaders stood side by side with their Muslim counterparts at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis... A Minneapolis imam named Abdighani Ali went on Somali TV and radio, declaring that Somalis who attended the service were non-believers. Ali's claims were echoed online by a man named Abdiwali "Dalboon" Warsame. On his website, Warsame wrote that the Somalis who entered the church lost their Islamic faith."Now we are awake," said Abdi Mohamed, a Bethel University student and limo driver from Minneapolis who said he supports dialogue between cultures. "If we see something in our community that is extremist, we're going to call them out on it. They have to be confronted, and they have to be held accountable." Now for the Goverment their reaction:Such unpopular views aren't likely to draw the attention of law enforcement. • November 30th Could Be the Day the Government Seizes Control of the Internet.November 30th, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) could potentially engage in one of the largest federal power grabs we have ever seen. After two years of this Presidential Administration and this Congress, that is saying an awful lot about an awful lot.And what’s worse, the FCC would be doing it without Congress weighing in. At the FCC’s November meeting – note the coincidental date of choice, AFTER the impending election – three unelected bureaucrats (of five) could simply vote themselves rulers of 1/6th of our entire economy – the information and technology sector.Meaning the Internet that you currently enjoy – that has been a marvel of economic and information innovation and success – will be subject to vast new governmental regulations. You didn’t elect these people – but they are on the verge of electing themselves Internet overlords. The remedy to all of this is crystal clear. Congress should do what it’s supposed to do – write a law that defines and details the FCC’s role (or lack thereof) in regulating the Internet. And the FCC should do what it’s supposed to do – unless and until Congress acts, NOTHING.What the FCC must NOT do is unilaterally vote itself vast new powers under the cover of bureaucratic, post-election darkness."They don't trust me because of my middle name?"Read the full hijacking story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:TeaandPolitics.Spain: Muslims protest Bishop's petition not to call Cordoba's Cathedral as a "Mosque".They say "Muslims defend Spanish and European values".The Bishop of Cordoba, Bishop Demetrio Fernandez, wrote this weekend's edition of ABC Córdoba, that Córdoba Cathedral has been a Catholic house of worship for eight centuries, "declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, which is open only the Catholic faith. The prelate also noted that "the Catholic community of Cordova has been involved in its maintenance" and "celebrates every day the mysteries of the Christian faith" in it:"When the Muslims arrived in Cordoba in 711, the place was already a sacred place. It was the ancient Basilica of San Vicente Martyr, which was destroyed to build the mosque.King Fernando III the Saint came out of blood in the city on June 28, 1236 and ordered to consecrate the temple which was built as a mosque, and was saved from destruction by the good King Fernando negotiations with the occupying Muslims, who wanted to destroy it before surrendering. "Therefore, Bishop Fernandez believes that the term "mosque" in the signs to the city are wrong. The bishop of the city claims to be called to the scene as it is 800 years: the Cathedral of Cordoba."There is no problem recognizing the Muslim caliphs of Córdoba spent large quantities of money to build this temple for God, which is the jewel in the city of Cordoba. • HT:BigPeace.Mukasey on Obama’s Antiterrorism Policies: ‘A World Inhabited Only by Children’.While visiting the military detention center at Guantanamo Bay in 2008, then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey stopped by the cell of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM). What he saw startled him: KSM had his own exercise center adjoining his cell, which included the same make and model of elliptical machine Mukasey used at his apartment building in Washington. That wasn’t the only experience the terrorist and the attorney general shared that day. Mukasey also ate lunch from the same halal menu the prisoners choose their meals from every day. What struck Mukasey was the extent to which those who demonized the Bush administration’s efforts to fight terrorism were intentionally misinforming and propagandizing the public with no regard to the damage they might do to America’s safety.President Obama famously ordered the closure of the facility at Guantanamo immediately upon taking office. But he also signed other executive orders–including restricting interrogation techniques to those outlined in the Army Field Manual.“A world like that, where choices have no consequences, is a world inhabited only by children, and then only in their fantasies,” Mukasey concludes. “If we try to live in it, we do so at peril to ourselves and our children.”Obama’s prosecution of the war on terror inspired Mukasey’s extended essay How Obama has Mishandled the War on Terror. The essay is part of a series of critical pamphlets published by Encounter Books called Broadsides.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Germans break silence over immigration. When Angela Merkel sat beside Recep Tayyip Erdogan as their two countries played each other at football on Friday, nothing could have seemed friendlier. The Turkish prime minister's scarf even combined the colours of both teams, integrated nicely in the fabric. Like our two peoples in the fabric of society, it seemed to say. And when Mesut Ozil, the star of the German side, scored against the land of his parents, he seemed almost embarrassed. It is characteristic of the tact with which Germans - for so he is - treat matters of "race", for want of a better word. For very obvious reasons, it's not been an area where they want to go. The ghosts of the past have been too frightening.Or so it was until recently. In the space of a few months, there have been outpourings of strong anti-immigrant feeling from mainstream politicians.Suddenly, it is back on the agenda and back on the front pages, particularly of the mass-market Bild newspaper.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

Also on the table is a copy of the Declaration of Independence, a liberty bell, a toy soldier and a statue of Justice holding a balance.Beneath the Obama caricatures are numerous rats, some of which are labeled as the IRS, trial lawyers, the EPA and the Fed. Sitting above all that is a line, “Vote DemocRAT. • HT:EmergingCorruption.Obama’s Healthcare Rules Will Shut Down Catholic Hospitals Nationwide. Some of Obamacare’s most destructive forces are quickly becoming common knowledge. We have, for instance, become painfully aware that Obama’s claim that we all could keep our plans and doctors “if you like them” is an outright falsehood as some people are already losing their coverage. It is also becoming clear that companies will be dropping plans all over the place making a lie of the idea that plans will be cheaper and easier to get once Obamacre comes into force. Another aspect of the destructive nature of this top down-style of “healthcare” is that once government takes over the system Democrats will assume they have the power to force religious-based healthcare providers to perform abortions and this will cause thousands of facilities to close down. This will, of course, make care even harder to get in many cities across the nation as hospital beds are lost in great numbers. In fact, we are already seeing this disastrous situation of closing hospitals playing out in Scranton, Pennsylvania where three Catholic-operated hospitals are likely going to be shut down and/or sold off because of the negative affects Obamacare will have on these facilities.Kevin Cook, the CEO of Mercy Health Partners, the company that operates these three hospitals, told WNEP TV News that Obamacare “absolutely” playing a role in the decision to sell off the facilities.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

It could lead to an Armageddon. It could lead to that World War III that could decimate so much of this planet."Dear Sarah! 'Armageddon' is in the Bible and has a context. • HT:TheNewEnglishReview.Ayaan Hirsi Ali On The Trial Of Geert Wilders.Imagine if a leader within the tea party movement were able to persuade its members to establish a third political party. Imagine he succeeded—overwhelmingly—and that as their leader he stood a real chance of winning the presidency. Then imagine that in anticipation of his electoral victory, the Democrats and Republicans quickly modified an existing antidiscrimination law so that he could be convicted for statements he made on the campaign trail. All of this seems impossible in a 21st-century liberal democracy. But it is exactly what is happening in Holland to Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders. The implications of this trial are enormous. In the short term, it could bring the simmering tensions between Holland's approximately one million Muslims and the 1.4 million voters who elected Mr. Wilders to a boil. The Netherlands has seen its share of Islamist violence before and could well see violent confrontations again. On a more fundamental level, this trial—even if Mr. Wilders wins—could silence the brave critics of radical Islam. The West is in a war of ideas against political Islam. If free speech is not protected in Europe, we're already losing.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.
