  • White House: Obama did not send letter to Netanyahu.A researcher with ties to Dennis Ross published an article on Wednesday saying that Obama sent a letter to Netanyahu offering U.S. guarantees in exchange for a two month settlement freeze extension. It is not clear, however, whether Obama could have made the offer via means other than a letter.Earlier on Thursday, Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath said that U.S.special envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell denied that Obama made such an offer to Netanyahu. An article published on Wednesday on the website for the Washington Institute for Near East Policy by David Makovsky, a researcher with ties to Dennis Ross, Barack Obama's chief advisor on the Middle East, reported that Obama had written a letter Netanyahu in which Obama offered to support the presence of Israel Defense Forces soldiers in the Jordan Valley even after the establishment of a Palestinian state, if Israel would agree to a two month settlement building freeze.Netanyahu was reportedly inclined to reject the offer.Obama's letter was said to include a long list of American favors in exchange for an extension of the settlement building freeze, which ended this week. Most of these favors are critical to Israel's strategic security needs that Netanyahu has been demanding for years.Brodenstein adds that Mr. Obama also threatens that if his offer is not accepted that the U.S. will make what he terms a major gesture to the Palestinians damaging Israel: formally taking the stand that the final borders should be based on the '67 lines with adjustments.Hmmmm.....the road to Hell is paved with empty promises.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:Bluecollar.Interesting: 9/11 Hard Hat Pledge Founder Calls on NYC to Investigate Missing GZM Construction Permits.Andy Sullivan, founder of the 9/11 Hard Hat Pledge was an eyewitness to the World Trade Center attacks. After seeing the first plane hit he successfully evacuated all of his construction crew. His one regret from that day is “not knowing that the first girl I ever loved was working at Cantor Fitzgerald. I could have saved her.”Andy has been researching the building permits for the proposed Ground Zero Mosque. According to Mr. Sullivan’s research, “that building is being illegally occupied. You cannot issue any type of Certificate of Occupancy either permanent or temporary without an inspection of the premises.” During the 9/11 terrorist attacks the building was damaged when the landing gear from one of planes landed on it causing damage. “Work has been done on that site since 9/11, yet there is no record of inspection since this work was completed, ” says Sullivan. Without the necessary permits and inspections Mr. Sullivan states that “No one can be sure that this building that is illegally being used to hold services is safe. There are real concerns for the safety of those occupying this building illegally.”According to Sullivan, in order for this site to meet Department of Building requirements, “all work done without permits has to be taken down and removed. They need to start over from scratch under the strict supervision of the DOB.” Sullivan wonders why the DOB is ignoring the lack of proper permits.“This site would be shut down if it was any other entity in the this city. Tremendous fines would be levied against any other project. I believe that Mayor Bloomberg is in cahoots with the DOB and figures no one with construction expertise has scrutinized the work permits, ” states hard hat Andy Sullivan.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Palestinian mental patients get hysterectomies.Muslim law permits parents to remove uteruses of mentally ill girls to protect family from shame.A debate held by a Palestinian radio station has revisited the issue of female mutilation, with interviewed parents saying they prefer to perform hysterectomies on mentally ill girls in order to prevent them from becoming impregnated. But the procedure is known to be performed in order to allay fears of embarrassment by a similarly ill offspring, and has been sanctioned to this end by both Sharia and the Palestinian Authority."We can't follow the girls around 24 hours a day, and we worry that they will be sexually assaulted, so we prefer to cut out their wombs," one parent told a radio station belonging to the Ma'an news agency.Female Palestinian MP Dr. Sahar Al Qawasmi agreed that there is a legal problem, and said a hysterectomy does nothing to defend the girl but rather serves only to protect her family from the shame and embarrassment incurred in Muslim society by a mentally ill family member."If our will is to protect the disabled or mentally ill, we must worsen the punishment against those who would attack her," Dr. Qawasmi said."If we must cut out the girl's womb, why do we not chop off body parts from disabled boys? The hysterectomy makes her the victim of a rape as well as of punishment, and the lack of punishment for her assailant."Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Irony Alert in Seattle: Hijab and Burqa Clad Women Protest Ayaan Hirsi Ali Speech on Islam’s Oppression of Women. It was the type of scene you don’t see everyday in Seattle: Some three dozen Islamic women in cloaks and veils descended on Town Hall last night to wave pickets and pass out fliers. They were there to protest the appearance of Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the controversial Somali émigré who’s been speaking out against Islamic fundamentalism and oppression of women.“We don’t want hate speech here,” said Entisar Ibrahim, one of the protesters, her black hijab revealing only her eyes. But when asked exactly how Hirsi Ali was a “virulently Islamaphobic bigot,” as the fliers labeled the visiting author, Ibrahim couldn’t say.At least one woman coming into Town Hall for the talk seemed confused by the branding of Hirsi Ali. “I thought she was a Muslim woman,” the audience member said. Not exactly. Answering questions from the audience and World Affairs Council CEO Ian Moncaster, a very Western-looking Hirsi Ali, in leather boots and a cowl-neck sweater, described herself as a “dissident of Islam.” She certainly didn’t promote violence against Muslims. But she did put forward the deeply contentious idea that Islam was simply incompatible with modernity and feminism. Moderates who yearned for spirituality were better off converting to Christianity. (Judaism could work too, she said, but the Jews stubbornly refuse to proselytize.)As for the protesters outside, she said, "I welcome them in the room." She said she'd like to directly ask them about a passage in Islamic doctrine that counsels husbands to beat their wives.I for one salute her courage!Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Video Hints at Executions by Pakistanis.ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — An Internet video showing men in Pakistani military uniforms executing six young men in civilian clothes has heightened concerns about unlawful killings by Pakistani soldiers supported by the United States, American officials said. The authenticity of the five-and-a-half-minute video, which shows the killing of the six men — some of whom appear to be teenagers, blindfolded, with their hands bound behind their backs — has not been formally verified by the American government. The Pakistani military said it was faked by militants. But American officials, who did not want to be identified because of the explosive nature of the video, said it appeared to be credible, as did retired American military officers and intelligence analysts who have viewed it.After viewing the graphic video on Wednesday, an administration official said: “There are things you can fake, and things you can’t fake. You can’t fake this.” Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • US 'open internet' bill shot down.Partisan politics is being blamed for killing off US legislation to protect the "net neutrality" that sees all web traffic treated equally.Democrat Henry Waxman said he failed to garner the necessary Republican support for his net neutrality bill. The bill aimed to stop ISPs from acting as online gatekeepers controlling the content flowing through their pipes."This development is a loss for consumers and a gain only for the extremes," said Mr Waxman."The bottom line is we must protect the open internet. If Congress can't act, the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) must.""If the majority wants to work on a solution to continue a free and open internet, let's consider the issue deliberately, rather than punting with a halfway measure two days before the end of Congress. • HT:BigPeace.FALLOUT: ‘Plugs had to be pulled on our system’ to clear Hamas operative to tour Top-Secret NCTC, ‘The NCTC has Kifah Mustapha on the highest watch list we have’.The fallout continues in response to my Big Peace article filed on Monday concerning a known Hamas operative and unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism finance trial in U.S. history who was given a VIP tour of the top-secret National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) and the FBI training center at Quantico as part of a six-week FBI Citizen Academy arranged by the FBI Chicago Field Office. Now a Homeland Security official (requesting anonymity for fear of retaliation by superiors) has contacted Big Peace saying that “the plugs had to be pulled on our system” in order to allow Kifah Mustapha to enter the NCTC and that “the NCTC has Kifah Mustapha on the highest watch list we have. There’s no way from a systems point-of-view that this could be an accidental oversight, unless they didn’t bother checking at all as they are required to do.”The DHS official added, “It’s as if we haven’t learned anything from twenty years of reaching out to the wrong people in the Muslim community.”Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Locked and Loaded: The Secret World of Extreme Militias.Camouflaged and silent, the assault team inched toward a walled stone compound for more than five hours, belly-crawling the last 200 yards. The target was an old state prison in eastern Ohio, and every handpicked member of Red Team 2 knew what was at stake: The year is 2014, and a new breed of neo-Islamic terrorism is rampant in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio ... The current White House Administration is pro-Muslim and has ordered a stand-down against Islamic groups. The mission: Destroy the terrorist command post — or die trying. The fighters must go in "sterile" — without name tags or other identifying insignia — as a deniable covert force. "Anyone who is caught or captured cannot expect extraction," the briefing officer said.A top FBI counterterrorism official says the bureau's "biggest concern" is "the individual who has done the training, has the capability but is disenchanted with the group's action — or in many cases, inaction — and decides he's going to act alone." A high-ranking DHS official added that "it's almost impossible to find that needle in a haystack," even if the FBI has an informant in the group. James Cavanaugh, who recently retired from a senior post at the ATF and took part in some of the bloodiest confrontations with the radical right in the 1990s, says the creation of monsters in their midst is the greatest danger posed by organized groups. The ceaseless talk of federal aggression — and regular training to repel it — "becomes a hysteria where you constantly, constantly practice and nothing happens," he says. "Now most of them wouldn't go out offensively, O.K.? But generally why they're dangerous is that some people can't stand that rhetoric and just wait for it to happen. And they go off the rails, à la McVeigh.Seems like they have dropped Israel and are now focusing the American soil? • Ayodhya Judgement: Babri Masjid divided between Muslims and Hindus. The Allahabad High Court today ruled, by majority, that the disputed area of the Babri Masjid Mosque, demolished December 6, 1992 by Hindu extremists, will be divided into three between Muslims and Hindus. The decision appears aimed at mitigating high tension in the country, but risks triggering major conflicts in the future. The Hindus will be able to maintain the prefabricated small temple built on the main body of demolished mosque, where an idol of Ram was found long ago. Another group of Hindus and a Islamic group will manage two other parts of the mosque. The long anticipated ruling was greet amid heightened tensions: over 200 thousand police officers were deployed to monitor possible targets of violence. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, as well as leaders of all major parties, had invited everyone to maintain calm.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:TheDailyBeast.Stop Trashing Teachers!Obama’s misguided policies and the overhyped doc Waiting For Superman have turned America against its teachers. Education expert Diane Ravitch on why the vitriol is so dangerous. For the past week, the national media has launched an attack on American public education that is unprecedented in our history. NBC devoted countless hours to panels stacked with "experts" who believe that public education is horrible because it has so many "bad" teachers and "bad" principals. The same "experts" appeared again and again to call for privatization, breaking teachers' unions, and mass firings of "bad" educators. Oprah devoted two shows to the same voices. The movie Waiting for Superman, possibly the most ballyhooed documentary of all time, explains patiently that poor test scores are caused by bad teachers, that bad teachers are protected for life by their unions, and that the answer to our terrible test scores is privatization. If only we fire enough teachers every year, goes the oft-repeated claim, our national test scores will soar to meet those of Finland, the highest scoring nation.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • U.S. House Passes Bill to Impose Tariffs on Chinese Goods. The House of Representatives sent a unusually confrontational signal to the Chinese leadership on Wednesday, voting overwhelmingly to give President Obama the authority to impose tariffs on all Chinese imports — more than $300 billion this year — in retaliation for Beijing’s refusal to revalue its currency. The vote was 348 to 79.The bill is unlikely to become law because the prospects for Senate approval are dim.Nonetheless, the action was intended to hand President Obama additional leverage in what has become a major flashpoint between the world’s two largest economies. But in conversations with Congress, Treasury Secretary Timothy F. • Thousands of Nigerian women 'found in Mali slave camps'.Nigerian girls are being forced to work as prostitutes in Mali "slave camps", say officials in Nigeria. The girls, many of them under age, have often been promised jobs in Europe but ended up in brothels, said the government's anti-trafficking agency. The brothels are run by older Nigerian women who prevent them from leaving and take all their earnings. The agency said it was working with Malian police to free the girls and help them return to Nigeria. They said there were hundreds of brothels, each housing up to 200 girls, run by Nigerian "madams" who force them to work against their will and take their earnings."We are talking of thousands and thousands of girls," Simon Egede, Executive Secretary of Naptip, told a news conference in Abuja."We are talking of certainly between 20,000 and about 40,000," he said, but did not give details of how the figure had been reached. In a statement, Mr Egede said girls were "held in bondage for the purposes of forced sexual exploitation and servitude or slavery-like practices"."The madams control their freedom of movement, where they work, when they work and what they receive," he said. The trade is centred around the capital Bamako and large cities, but the most notorious brothels are in the mining towns of Kayes and Mopti, where the sex workers live in "near slavery condition", said Naptip.Mali is 90 % Islamic!Islamic law does not forbid slavery.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Today in Assassination News . . . There has been much discussion lately of the legal questions surrounding the Obama administration’s plan to assassinate U.S. citizen Anwar al-Awlaki, an al-Qaeda goon, Islamist propagandist, and general bum. The Christian Science Monitor has a pretty good discussion here, arguing that the Nuremberg and Tokyo trials established a “gold standard” for governments’ conduct, and makes a due-process argument as well. Glenn Greenwald remarks on the lawsuit brought by Awlaki’s father and the state-secret aspects of the case here. For what it’s worth, the Nuremberg template seems inappropriate to me; Awlaki is not a agent of a government or a member of a regular army, and there is no reason to charge him with “war crimes” when he could be charged with regular old crimes. But that’s neither here nor there.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Native Indians and cigarettes: the tension is building.Native Indians and cigarettes: the tension is building. On August 27th, I spoke about the plan of Governor Patterson to enforce cigarette tax laws on Native American Indian tribes. In that discussion, it was noted that NYC Mayor Bloomberg stated that "the governor should act like a cowboy with a shotgun and enforce the state tax law.”This is in addition to my understanding that, according to what the Gov. was proposing, a violation of the 4th Amendment was under way. Which says nothing of the potential for violence that occured when similar plans were proposed when Gov. Cuomo in 1992 and Gov. Pataki in 1997 tried to enact a similar law.On Sept 1st, the courts halted the tax grab that Gov. Patterson envisioned filling State coffers. • Obama Refers to Illegal Aliens as ‘Us’ As He Renews Call for Amnesty.“A lot of folks think it’s an easy way to score political points is by trying to act as if there’s a ‘them’ and an ‘us,’ instead of just an ‘us.’I belive he doesn't care about anyone but Barack Hussein Obama!President Barack Obama referred to illegal aliens in the United States as “us” on Tuesday while renewing his call for giving them a “pathway to citizenship”—an amnesty--and castigating opponents of such an amnesty as demagogues.OK racists, mongrels, demagogues, bigots and perhaps next Hobbits if we don't agree with the great leader?Obama’s made the statement at what the White House billed as a “backyard discussion” at a private home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It came in the midst of a 754-word answer he gave in response to a woman who asked: “How do you envision a comprehensive immigration reform as one measure towards America’s economic recovery and long-term vitality?”“Let’s provide a pathway to citizenship for those who are already here, understanding that they broke the law, so they’re going to have to pay a fine and pay back taxes and, I think, learn English, make sure that they don’t have a criminal record,” said Obama. “There are some hoops that they’re going to have to jump through, but giving them a pathway is the right thing to do.Hmmm...to protect and uphold the Constitution?"Yeah whatevah!Read the full scandal story here.Click here for comments.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded a rapid response grant to scientists Crystal Johnson, Gary King and Ed Laws of Louisiana State University (LSU) to find out.The researchers will look at how the abundance and virulence of naturally-occurring bacteria called Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Vibrio vulnificus, often found in oyster beds, may change in response to the spill. • Washington's Schizophrenic Approach Toward the Muslim Brotherhood."Allah is our objective; the Prophet is our leader; the Quran is our law; jihad is our way; and dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope." So reads the motto of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), a transnational Islamist organization with chapters in more than 70 countries. The group's long history includes collaboration with Nazi Germany, calls for the destruction of Israel, and support for attacks against American troops. The Brotherhood's affiliates include the terrorist organization Hamas. Its alumni include 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abdullah Azzam, Osama bin Laden's terrorist mentor. Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaida's second in command, is said to have been heavily influenced by the ideology of the Brotherhood's Egyptian chapter. Some of the most prominent Muslim organizations in the United States have close, longstanding relationships with the Muslim Brotherhood. The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) was founded by Muslim Brotherhood members in the United States. And the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was linked in court papers to a Brotherhood-organized Hamas support effort. That record has not dissuaded the Obama and George W. Bush administrations from working with MB-affiliated organizations in the United States. This relationship is on display in Chicago this week, where Rashad Hussain, President Obama's special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), addresses the American Islamic College (AIC). A Hudson Institute report last year identified the AIC as having been planned by the Brotherhood-affiliated Muslim Students Association (MSA). The AIC was once headed by MSA founder Ahmed Sakr.Hussain's participation serves to highlight the fact that Washington has no policy for dealing with the Muslim Brotherhood, despite evidence that the group's agenda is hostile to the United States. In some cases around the world, there may be little choice but to do so. But a number of people who study the issue contend that the U.S. government is needlessly legitimizing the Muslim Brotherhood.Hussain is scheduled to appear Wednesday morning on a panel moderated by Ahmed Rehab, head of the Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). So a White House aide is sharing the stage with a senior CAIR official. The FBI's policy is to not do that. The agency cut off communications with CAIR in 2008, based upon exhibits in the Hamas-support prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) that places CAIR on a committee created to support Hamas politically and financially. An FBI congressional liaison wrote last year that "until we can resolve whether there continues to be a connection between CAIR or its executives and HAMAS, the FBI does not view CAIR as an appropriate liaison partner."But for "They don't trust me because of my middle name"it's not a problem.Read the full treason story here.Click here for comments.

Anwar al-Awlaki, whose radical sermons have been cited by terrorists involved in four U.S. bomb plots, has survived a series of American drone attacks to re-emerge with a new video that is expected to be posted on the internet soon.Radical Islamic websites with known ties to Al Qaeda have announced the planned release of the video featuring Al-Awlaki.He also exchanged more than a dozen emails with Nidal Malki Hassan, who later went on the shooting rampage at Fort Hood. You remember that case off "Workplace violence"?Wooow that might inflate the Islamophobia without reason?Read the full interfaith dialog story here.Click here for comments.

  • White House Officials Trash Rahm.Should he run for mayor of Chicago, it seems Rahm Emanuel won’t necessarily be missed: The Financial Times points to three problems with Rahm’s tenure as chief of staff—and backs them up with anonymous trash-talking. “Rahm cannot keep his thoughts focused for more than 10 minutes,” says one former official. “If he spent as much time planning strategy as he does trying to win the news cycle then things might have gone differently.” Another complaint is that, as the chief White House negotiator, he consistently made concessions with Republicans just to see them go on to obstruct the White House’s legislation anyway. “Rahm’s approach helped create the impression that the Obama White House had no principles–it was simply transactional,” says one Democratic observer. • Ousted Moscow Mayor Slams Kremlin, Ready To Challenge Dismissal. The quarrel between the Kremlin and Moscow's sacked mayor, Yury Luzhkov, has become still messier with the publication of a scathing letter by Luzhkov and reports of impending legal action from both sides."In our country the fear of expressing one's view has existed since 1937," he wrote, referring to the year considered to be the high point of the purges under Soviet dictator Josef Stalin's Great Terror. With his ouster, public sector workers are now worried about cuts to their incomes. Many Muscovites, including some of his critics, believe things will not necessarily change for the best after Luzhkov. His dismissal clears the way for a redistribution of the capital's wealth and of its staggering $36.7 billion annual budget.Business groups close to Putin and Medvedev are now expected to win more of Moscow's lucrative building contracts, and some of Putin's close allies have been named as possible successors to Luzhkov -- including government chief of staff Sergei Sobyanin. • Iron Man-style power suits 'will be in war zones in five years'.Iron Man-style power suits which make the wearer vastly stronger will be used by soldiers in war zones in the next five years, according to a firm developing them. The XOS2 suit - pronounced "exos" - produced by US defence technology firm Raytheon Sarcos allows the user to carry 70kg with apparently little or no effort and punch through four planks of wood at once. The exoskeleton has been designed with two applications in mind: firstly, the combat variant, which is a waist-down suit intended for use supporting heavy backpacks; and, secondly, the logistics version, which is a full suit intended to be used by personnel carrying water, supplies and ammunition boxes or tank shells. Dr Fraser Smith, the firm's vice-president of operations, said: "We would expect them to appear in theatre [war zones] probably in about five years for the tethered version and perhaps three to five after that for the untethered version." • It's time to fight back against death threats by Islamic extremists.A federal law is needed to cover threats against free-speech rights. Across media and geographies, Islamic extremists are increasingly using intimidation to stifle free expression.Earlier this year, after Comedy Central altered an episode of "South Park" that had prompted threats because of the way it depicted Islam's prophet Muhammad, Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris proposed an "Everybody Draw Muhammad Day." The idea was, as she put it, to stand up for the 1st Amendment and "water down the pool of targets" for extremists. It's time for free-speech advocates to take a page from the abortion rights movement's playbook. In the 1990s, abortion providers faced the same sort of intimidation tactics and did not succumb. Instead, they lobbied for a federal law making it a crime to threaten people exercising reproductive rights and permitting victims to sue for damages. The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, or FACE, passed in 1994 by solid bipartisan margins. A similar act is needed to cover threats against free-speech rights.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Media ignores Islamist extremisme Canadian Journalist Resigns After Editors Spike His Anti-Jihadist Column. This week, Rory resigned as a long-time columnist for the London (Ontario) Free Press. He’d submitted a column to run on (ironically) September 11, detailing the connection between the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) and the Muslim Brotherhood. The LFP said they’d only run the column if Leishman removed references to two local imams. He refused, the paper spiked the column, and Leishman resigned on principle. How could tens of thousands of Muslims living in Canada sympathize with Islamist terrorists who were plotting the greatest mass slaughter of civilians in Canadian history?Part of the answer can be found in some mainstream Muslim publications in Canada. For example, in July, Al Bilad, a monthly newspaper published in Arabic and English in London, Ontario, featured a poem that glorifies an Islamist homicide bomber who pleads to her mother.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Barack Chavez Obama doesn't want you watching America's most trusted cable news channel, according to polling by Politico and GWU .Last May, Mark Levin -- the President of Landmark Legal Foundation -- stated that President Barack Obama was the "closest thing to a dictator" this country had ever seen. The list of horribles included his naked attempts to silence critics, his encouragement of voter intimidation, his support of rampant vote fraud, the implicit campaign to encourage illegal immigration, and his blatant abrogation of contract law (e.g., the GM and Chrysler bailouts). Now Obama is at it again, demonizing the most popular and trusted cable news outlet in the United States. In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Obama made the extraordinarily un-presidential claim that Fox is "destructive to [America's] long-term growth."Consider that a recent Politico-George Washington University poll recently determined that Fox News is trusted by 42% of the American public versus 30% for CNN and a puny 12% for MSNBC.Read the full Stalin order story here.Click here for comments.

According to the Census Bureau's annual survey of income and poverty in the United States, of the 52 largest metro areas in the nation, only the city of San Antonio did not see a decline in median household income in 2009. Needless to say, that is not good news. If incomes are falling from coast to coast, then how in the world can anyone claim that we are experiencing a "recovery"?
