  • Sunday, September 19, 2010, the Obama family attended church for only the third time in a year. They went on foot to the St. John’s Episcopal Church situated across the Lafayette Park. But what is widely not reported by the White House and the MSM is that on that particular Sunday in that particular church, Dr. Ziad Asali, M.D., a Muslim, founder and president of the American Task Force on Palestine, was the guest speaker. He was there to speak on the subject of “Prospects of the two-state solution in the Middle-East.”But Who's Ziad J. Asali the guest speaker at the St. John’s Episcopal Church? He is among other things President and Founder, American Task Force on Palestine and he also figures on the board of the U.S.-Muslim Engagement Project.Among the members of the organisation are : Surprise!Daisy Khan, Executive Director, American Society for Muslim Advancement and Feisal Abdul Rauf, Imam, Masjid al-Farah in New York City; Founder and Chairman, Cordoba Initiative; author of What’s Right with Islam Is What’s Right with America.Hmm now i really wonder why the President wanted to attend this peticular Church service?Click here for comments.

  • Libby Jurist's Career Built on Toughness. While presiding over perhaps the most high-profile trial of his career, U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton made time for his more mundane courthouse role: the scolding mentor to this city's young thugs. So, the vice president's former top deputy, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, his team of well-heeled and famous defense lawyers and a nationally known prosecutor in the CIA leak case would have to wait to argue over key evidence in Libby's perjury trial that day in February. Walton had some important yelling to do at defendants whose names would never make the papers."For some reason you've chosen to be a criminal, and at some point you're going to pay a price," Walton warned one defendant facing jail for fighting and violating his probation. "If you really hurt someone, we would put you away for a long time."Today, it will be Libby standing before Walton to be sentenced for his perjury and obstruction conviction in a probe of the outing of CIA officer Valerie Plame. The bad news for Libby is that Walton, a judge for a quarter-century, is known throughout the defense bar as a "long-ball hitter" -- a jurist willing to put defendants away for a long time to deter future crimes. Legal experts familiar with the judge's career say the chances are very high that Walton will give Libby a considerable sentence, probably at the high end of the range for perjury cases, as a result of Libby's lies to investigators about what he told reporters about Plame's CIA job.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.HT:TheInfidelbloggers.

  • HT:IsraelMatzav.Michael Oren hints: Israel has decided to attack Iran? In Yom Kippur remarks delivered at three different Washington area synagogues, Israeli ambassador to the United States Michael Oren may have been hinting that Israel plans to attack Iran.As such, the Book of Jonah can be read as more than morality play, but also a cautionary tale about the hazards of decision-making. It is a type of political primer, if you will, what the medieval thinkers called a Mirror for Princes. The Talmud teaches us that, in the post-Biblical era, the gift of prophecy is reserved for children and fools. In modern times, we don’t have prophets—pundits, yes, but no prophets. Instead we have statesmen who, like Jonah, often have to make fateful decisions for which they will bear personal responsibility. If not a paradox of prophecy, these leaders face what we might call the quandary of statecraft.I believe that the Israeli government decided a long time ago that it would attack Iran rather than let it go nuclear. But I don't believe that any decision on the timing of that attack has been made. The timing will likely depend on events in Iran, and I am know that the government of Israel is monitoring those events much more closely than any of us can.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Google creates censorship map.The US government asked Google for user information 4,287 times during the first six months of 2010.During the same timeframe the UK government put in over 1,000 such requests. This is just two snippets from Google's new Transparency Report, a set of tools designed to show censorship levels around the globe.Civil liberty groups welcomed the tool but called on Google to provide even more detail about the requests. The map allows users to click an individual country to see how many removal requests were fully or partially complied with, as well as which Google services were affected. In the US, for example, there were seven court orders to remove content from YouTube from July 2009 to the end of the year. There is also a traffic graph showing Google services around the world and related traffic outages, caused either by governments blocking access to information or, more mundanely, cables being cut.Google's public policy head Scott Rubin demonstrated the tool to the BBC.Read the full story here .Click here for comments.

  • Mosque ally's vid shows 'Hez' true colors.Among the Islamic clerics defending plans for a mosque near Ground Zero yesterday was an outspoken critic of Israel who enthusiastically signaled his support for terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah during a rally a decade ago. At a news conference outside the site of the proposed mosque, Imam Mahdi Bray, executive director of the Washington-based Muslim American Society, was adamant about Muslims' right to build a mosque where they choose. But he refused to discuss a video, from a rally in Lafayette Park in Washington, DC, that shows him onstage repeatedly raising his arms when an unidentified speaker asked how many in the crowd supported Hamas and Hezbollah.Read and see the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • The UK’s tax collection agency is putting forth a proposal that all employers send employee paychecks to the government, after which the government would deduct what it deems as the appropriate tax and pay the employees by bank transfer. The proposal by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) stresses the need for employers to provide real-time information to the government so that it can monitor all payments and make a better assessment of whether the correct tax is being paid.Currently employers withhold tax and pay the government, providing information at the end of the year, a system know as Pay as You Earn (PAYE). There is no option for those employees to refuse withholding and individually file a tax return at the end of the year.If the real-time information plan works, it further proposes that employers hand over employee salaries to the government first. My take on this:First it will take a lot of administration to do this and it will cause for sure delays in the paycheck being paid out, what brings me to number two:is it a way for the goverment to make extra money with workers their money ,just think if you put this amount of money on a short term account lets say 2 weeks at the max, how much intrest would that yield for the goverment? We know in Europe banks take sometimes from 24 to 72 hours timedelay before your money is transferred in to your account(Making a small profit?).Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • For Indian Rape Laws, Change Is Slow to Come.NEW DELHI — Should a woman’s sexual experience and history be introduced as evidence in the trial of her accused rapist? What constitutes the “modesty” of a 10-year-old girl?“I want to tell the world, my family and friends, the truth — my husband was a rapist,” said the woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity to shield her family. “I can tell them about the beatings, but not the rapes. We aren’t supposed to talk about these matters, because they’re shameful. But if there was shame, there was also anger. The anger of being told, ‘He was your husband, he had the right to do this.’ Maybe for others, it will change. My pain has no voice.” Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Twitter Hacked Tuesday Morning.Twitter was overrun with tweets on Tuesday morning that used a programming flaw to play pranks, distribute porn and spread worms to unsuspecting Twitter users. The problem appeared to be confined to Twitter’s old Web interface, and does not affect the new interface that Twitter is gradually rolling out to users of the service or to mobile applications. Security experts said that a JavaScript command in the offending tweets included a command, “onmouseover,” that caused messages to pop up and Web sites to open automatically when a mouse hovered over it. The script in some cases also caused a user to tweet the offending link, spreading it virally to their followers and the rest of Twitter.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Report: Iranian bank under sanctions operates in Turkey.Turkey and other US allies have been allowing Iranian banks with suspected links to Tehran’s nuclear program to do business within their borders, frustrating Western countries trying to put a financial squeeze on the Islamic republic, a news report claimed.“Turkey’s blossoming financial-economic relationship with Iran provides Iran with a gateway to the entire European financial system,” Reuters quoted an intelligence report on Turkey and Iran as saying, noting that report was provided by a diplomat. It didn’t mention the nationality of the diplomat.“The fact that Turkey is allowing itself to be used as a conduit for Iranian activity via Turkish banks and the Turkish lira is making it possible for Iranian funds in Turkish guise to make their way into Europe,” the same report was quoted as saying.“Reportedly Turkish companies have started sending petroleum to Iran or opening up ports to do trade with Iran instead of Dubai. How do you see the effect of this kind of effort on the sanctions against Iran?” the question was posed“Obviously Iran’s neighbors have a variety of types of trade with Iran, and the objective of the Security Council resolution, the objective of the national measures, is not to impose a total embargo on Iran. Legitimate trade between Iran and its neighbors can and should continue, but there are certain provisions in the Security Council resolution which prevent major categories of arms from going to Iran, that prohibit arms transfers from Iran, prohibit a wide range of illicit activities as well. We will encourage all of Iran’s neighbors to implement the resolutions faithfully, but we’re not going to urge them to impose a total embargo on Iran,” Einhorn had responded.Read the full scam story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:IsraelMatzav.George Soros' perfect storm.Anne Bayefsky explains what George Soros is buying with his $100 million gift to Human Rights Watch. .Why, then, did George Soros deem it worthy of the largest gift he has ever made?Because Soros has recognized what Republicans ignore at their peril — namely, the power of human-rights claims, legitimate or not.Soros, logged as one of President Obama’s frequent White House guests, appreciates that a human-rights mantra, particularly when amplified with the U.N.’s global megaphone, is a formidable tool for manipulating public policy. A tool, mind you, and not a principle.President Obama has styled himself a champion of the victims of human-rights violations. But he is the president who went to Egypt and spoke in support of Muslim women who want to cover their bodies while saying nothing in defense of those who want the freedom to do otherwise. He is the president who has let Iranian dissidents die in vain. The president who keeps mumbling about reset buttons while Russian human-rights defenders are systematically eliminated.Soros makes no attempt to hide his agenda. As he wrote in The Bubble of American Supremacy: “People have different views and . . . nobody is in possession of the ultimate truth . . . [P]eople are supposed to decide for themselves what they mean by freedom and democracy. . . . What goes on within individual states can be of vital interest to the rest of the world, but the principle of sovereignty militates against interfering in their internal affairs.” The same speech has been made by China and Cuba and thugs the world over.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Islam's Encounters With America. A survey by Elaph, the most respected electronic daily in the Arab world, saw 58% object to the building of the WTC mosque. From his recent travels to the Persian Gulf—sponsored and paid for by the State Department—Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf returned with a none-too-subtle threat. • HT:GrassTopsUSA.Society For Voluntary Jewish Extinction Fights Islamophobia. In response to the rising tide of anti-Semitism, here and abroad, courtesy of the Religion of Peace, liberal Jews (Temple Beth Meshuga) have pledged to fight Islamophobia – the “phobia” the left loves to hate. We’re told that anti-Muslim hysteria has reached a fevered pitch. Daisy Khan, wife Imam Rauf, point-man for the Ground Zero Mosque, says it’s “like a metastasized anti-Semitism.” What, that serious? “It’s not even Islamophobia; it’s beyond Islamophobia. It’s (gasp) hate of Muslims!” Are Muslims being lynched by rampaging mobs? Are imams kidnapped and tortured to death? Are cars filled with Muslim civilians ambushed, and pregnant women shot to death at close range? Much worse, my friends. This uber-bigotry is epitomized by opposition to a mosque – excuse me, a cultural center – built near the spot where 2,752 Americans were murdered by Muslim hijackers, in the name of Islam, 9 years ago. Will the horror never end? But, not to worry, Jewish liberals are here to save the day.By all means, let us have more mosques in the United States, more Saudi-trained imams, more spokesmen for “moderate” Islam like Imam Rauf, and more spiritual strugglers like the Muslim shrink at Ft. Hood who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers in cold blood. Why should Europeans have all the fun? Liberals are naturally unstable. The Jewish left's latest craze – monitoring opposition to the construction of mosques, speaking out “more directly against anti-Muslim bigotry” – should land them on a suicide-watch. (Keep sharp objects away from them. Confiscate belts and shoelaces.) In the midst of a world war against Jews, Jewish liberals want to ensure that no one is mean to the pogromists’ cheering section and recruiting center. Islam is the religion of peace they cry, as Jewish families bury the victims of peace. • In Afghanistan, Boys Are Prized and Girls Live the Part.KABUL, Afghanistan — Six-year-old Mehran Rafaat is like many girls her age. She likes to be the center of attention. She is often frustrated when things do not go her way. Like her three older sisters, she is eager to discover the world outside the family’s apartment in their middle-class neighborhood of Kabul. But when their mother, Azita Rafaat, a member of Parliament, dresses the children for school in the morning, there is one important difference. Mehran’s sisters put on black dresses and head scarves, tied tightly over their ponytails. For Mehran, it’s green pants, a white shirt and a necktie, then a pat from her mother over her spiky, short black hair. After that, her daughter is out the door — as an Afghan boy. There are no statistics about how many Afghan girls masquerade as boys. But when asked, Afghans of several generations can often tell a story of a female relative, friend, neighbor or co-worker who grew up disguised as a boy. To those who know, these children are often referred to as neither “daughter” nor “son” in conversation, but as “bacha posh,” which literally means “dressed up as a boy” in Dari.Read the full story here.Click here for comments

"We came here today to stand in solidarity with those Iranian citizens who are being beheaded, stoned and buried alive for speaking out against the tyrannical rule of the Iranian ayatollahs. • Morning Bell: The Economic Toll of the Obama Tax Hikes. In today’s Wall Street Journal, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) identifies two justifications for his unequivocal opposition to any impending tax increases: “The first concerns the pain that tax increases threaten to inflict on our economy over the short term. The second is to stop the slide under our current leadership towards becoming a stagnant European-style welfare state with limited individual opportunity and entrepreneurship.”We’ve written before about how President Barack Obama’s reckless spending threatens to undermine our nation’s economic vitality. Before the recession, federal spending totaled $24,000 per U.S. household. President Obama’s FY 2011 budget would hike it to $36,000 per household by 2020 — an inflation-adjusted $12,000-per-household expansion of government. But spending is just one-half of this White House’s economic plan. Massive wealth-distributing tax hikes are the other half of President Obama’s wish list, and they are just as big a threat to our nation’s economy.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Proof: New Records Show DOJ Lied About New Black Panther Dismissal.A FOIA request reveals contradictions in statements made to Congress, the Civil Rights Commission, and to the public. Some of these statements were made under oath.Judicial Watch made an explosive announcement today about the Justice Department’s stonewalling in the New Black Panther voter intimidation case dismissal. Forced to bring a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit after DOJ rebuffed its public records request (so much for transparency), Judicial Watch obtained a privilege log from the DOJ last week.It shows — in a rather dramatic way — that the DOJ has been untruthful about who was involved in the dismissal of the case.In July, I complied with a subpoena and provided testimony to the United States Commission on Civil Rights. I did so in part because inaccurate statements had been made about the case by DOJ officials. Some of these statements falsely claimed that ethical rules mandated the dismissal of the charges against the New Black Panthers. This was nonsense. But the real whopper? DOJ’s claim — repeated over and over again — that career civil servants were wholly responsible for the spiking of the case.Today we learn, from the Department’s own records, that this claim is demonstrably false.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Voter to Obama: "I'm exhausted of defending you".Over the weekend, Barack Obama tried to reenergize his black base by urging members of that constituency to make their voices heard in November's midterm elections. If the stated views one such voter are any indication, however, the president is going to have to do more than persuade blacks to get out and vote. He's going to have to explain to them why they should continue to trust him and back candidates who support his policies. The views were expressed by a woman at a town hall where Obama was fielding questions. We seem powerless to resist: Our governments won’t acknowledge the threat; we are told Muslims have “constitutional rights” to come here, proselytize everywhere, build mosques, and implement shariah in their communities and in the public square; and our governments are letting them do it.The Muslims seek to replace our Constitution with shariah – their totalitarian political, economic, military, social & legal system – with the goal of incorporating our Country into a global Islamic caliphate. They are making progress in islamicizing our Country because we are not resisting. And the dreadful message we are getting from all sources is that our Constitution renders us powerless to resist islamization. But read on, and I will show you how our Constitution &Declaration of Independence – properly understood – actually give our federal, State & local governments justification and authority to stop the islamization of our Country. Once we understand two things, it becomes clear what we may – and must – do.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Terrorists ‘will attack’ France after burka ban.It is only a matter of time before Islamic terrorists mount a successful attack on France, the country’s top spy believes. The recent burka ban means all the ‘red lights are now flashing’ in regard to a possible atrocity, domestic intelligence boss Bernard Squarcini said.Speaking after the evacuation of the Eiffel Tower last week following a bomb scare, Mr Squarcini warned: ‘France’s role in Afghanistan, its foreign policy and the debate over the law banning the burka have all increased the risk.’He said security services foiled an average of two planned attacks every year, but added: ‘One day or another, we’re going to get hit.Meanwhile, security has been stepped up around Jewish institutions in Paris following the arrest of a suspected terrorist who planned to bomb an Israel defence forces fundraising event in the capital. There have been 47 attacks against synagogues, Jewish schools, creches and association buildings in France so far this year, and 190 threats.Islam the religion of peace?Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Here You Have Worm and E-Jihad Connection. On Friday, September 10, I hinted that a cyber-jihad group might be behind the “Here you have” mass-mailer worm. Here is some additional information.Imsolk.A/Visal.A/VBMania, was originally designated as “Imsolk.A“ and was first seen in August 2010. That attack was much smaller in scale and its possible origins were not investigated at the time. Studying clues in the second attack showed that it might have originated from a cyber-jihad organization called “Brigades of Tariq ibn Ziyad”, whose founding member is known as “iraq_resistance”.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • ‘Civilization Jihad’ – the Muslim Brotherhood’s Potent Weapon.Part 3 of a serialization of Shariah – The Threat to America, the report of Team B II of the Center for Security Policy.Violent jihad dominates the attention of those responsible for national security. But the more dangerous long-term threat, the Center for Security Policy’s Team B report found, is what the Muslim Brotherhood calls “civilization jihad.”This pre-violent form of jihad, according to the totalitarian ideology of sharia, is considered an integral, even dominant element of jihad.Team B, which used open-source information to compile its groundbreaking report, Sharia – The Threat to America, takes a look at civilization jihad as part of enemy threat doctrine. Here’s a summary. If it can be demonstrated that the enemy refers to and relies on this doctrine to guide and justify his actions, then that is all that matters in terms of the enemy threat doctrine. US civilian and military leaders must thoroughly understand and orient upon this threat doctrine for the purpose of defeating such foes.Failing to orient an enemy’s self-identified doctrines not only violates our own doctrine on threat analysis but renders us unable to defeat the enemy because we have failed properly to identify him.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:IsraelMatzav.Bolton demolishes Obama's UN record.Former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton has a scathing review of the Obama administration's record at the United Nations. Naturally, a lot of that review deals with Israel. Here are some of the Israel parts. Obama’s first mistake was announcing immediately after his inauguration that the United States would join preparations for the 2009 “World Conference against Racism,” known as “Durban II” after the South African city that hosted its 2001 predecessor. Durban I denounced Israel as racist and was, just below the surface, profoundly anti-American. Then secretary of state Colin Powell, announcing the withdrawal of the U.S. delegation in protest, rightly stressed that Durban I was “a throwback to the days of ‘Zionism equals racism’” that we would not dignify with our presence. In later years, the U.S. walkout was routinely cited as evidence of Bush-administration unilateralism. Durban II, coming just months after Bush left office, was therefore widely seen as an important signal of how his successor would treat multilateral affairs.Obama's mendaciousness on the nuclear conference may yet come back to haunt Israel. Although the Obama administration has asked the Arab and Muslim states to take the nuclear free Middle East plank off the agenda for the next IAEA conference, for some strange reason they refuse to do so.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:ShalomLife.Former Mayor of NYC Critical of Obama's "Mistreatment" of Israel. In the course of his long distinguished career, Edward Irving “Ed” Koch has served three terms as mayor of New York City (“I loved it”), written several books, enumerable articles, and played the judge on the TV show The People’s Court. Now 85, he has just launched a new organization, New York Uprising, which aims to renovate a “dysfunctional” Albany.Although Koch has been a life-long Democrat and worked to help President Obama’s election, he is now fiercely critical of Obama’s “mistreatment” of Israel.“Prior presidents had a special relationship with Israel,” he said. But not Obama. He made that clear almost from the beginning of his tenure when he spoke in Cairo, his first major speech, and did not go to Israel immediately after. “That’s the usual protocol. When you go to an Arab country you follow up with a trip to Israel and vice versa.”He believes, he wrote, “that President Obama’s policy is to create a whole new relationship with the Arab states of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq as a counter to Iran. If throwing Israel under the bus is needed to accomplish this alliance, so be it.”He added: “Members of Congress in both House and Senate have made pitifully weak statements against Obama’s mistreatment of Israel, if they made any at all. The Democratic members, in particular, are weak. They are simply afraid to criticize President Obama.”He contrasts this with Obama’s treatment of the “corrupt, opium producing” Karzai government which “shows the utmost contempt for the U.S. and is being hailed by the Obama administration as an ally and publicly treated with dignity.Yes but he's a Musim?Karzai recently even threatened to join the Taliban if we don’t stop making demands on him,” he wrote in an article in April.Hmmmm ...As one man told me "Nobody here in Israel trusts Obama".Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:BacktoBasics.Signs Of A Crumbling Regime. Can you see it? The signs are everywhere. The regime is crumbling. No not the President Barack Obama regime, though that is part of it; maybe even the catalyst in the United States, at least. I’m talking about the regime in general; the system. You can see it in places like Greece. There the government has been fighting for its economic life. Years of socialist redistribution — theft from the producers to finance the growing State leviathan and unionized public and private sector employees — have caught up.The government is now instituting “austerity” measures. It has to. It can’t meet its obligations. So it’s cutting back on growth in salaries, vacation days, benefits and pensions. Unionized public works employees and service employees aren’t happy their gravy train has jumped the tracks. They strike and riot. Greece may or may not survive.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • House lawmakers close to net neutrality bill.According to Hill sources who were not authorized to speak publicly, the committee staffers have gained momentum in recent days on a narrow proposal that would give the FCC authority for two years to enforce its four open Internet principles. One House staff member said the bill will reflect the “least worst” of options for parties on both sides of the issue. Telecommunications and cable firms would get a bill that doesn’t give the FCC authority over broadband and only temporary authority to enforce net neutrality rules. Public interest groups and companies such as Skype, Facebook and other Internet firms would get a bill that at least gives them assurance that guidelines at the FCC are enforceable by law.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Star-of-David Nanoparticles Discovered by Israeli Researchers.A new type of nanoparticle that resembles the six-pointed Star of David, a Jewish symbol which appears on the flag of Israel, has been discovered by researchers at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Hebrew University team, headed by researcher Uri Banin, said the star-shaped nanoparticles have a unique, cage-like structure. The discovery is described in an article in the October 2010 issue of the journal Nature Materials. The particles, which are some 10,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair, may prove useful in applications ranging from the development of new ways to sense glucose in diagnosing diabetes to serving as photo-catalysts for turning solar energy into clean fuel, the university said.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Shia cleric loses citizenship amid Bahrain clampdown.Bahrain has revoked the nationality of the country's leading Shia cleric, amid a clampdown on Shia activists ahead of next month's parliamentary elections.Ayatollah Hussein Mirza Najati, who has close ties to Iraq, was stripped of his passport on Sunday, officials said.A wave of arrests in Bahrain since August has led to clashes and renewed street protests across the country.Twenty-three activists have been charged with forming a "terror network" aimed at toppling the Sunni leadership.Bahrain's Shias - who make up 70% of the population of the small Gulf island state - have long complained of discrimination in state jobs and housing, and say that they are barred from holding influential posts in the country's security forces.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • Arctic Ice in Death Spiral. The carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels have melted the Arctic sea ice to its lowest volume since before the rise of human civilisation, dangerously upsetting the energy balance of the entire planet, climate scientists are reporting."The Arctic sea ice has reached its four lowest summer extents (area covered) in the last four years," said Mark Serreze, director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center in the U.S. city of Boulder, Colorado. The volume - extent and thickness - of ice left in the Arctic likely reached the lowest ever level this month, Serreze told IPS."I stand by my previous statements that the Arctic summer sea ice cover is in a death spiral. It's not going to recover," he said. There can be no recovery because tremendous amounts of extra heat are added every summer to the region as more than 2.5 million square kilometres of the Arctic Ocean have been opened up to the heat of the 24-hour summer sun. A warmer Arctic Ocean not only takes much longer to re-freeze, it emits huge volumes of additional heat energy into the atmosphere, disrupting the weather patterns of the northern hemisphere, scientists have now confirmed. • How genocide wiped out a Native American population. Study documents mutilated human remains from 800 A.D. in Southwest.Crushed leg bones, battered skulls and other mutilated human remains are likely all that's left of a Native American population destroyed by genocide that took place circa 800 A.D., suggests a new study. The paper, accepted for publication in the Journal of Anthropological Archaeology, describes the single largest deposit to date of mutilated and processed human remains in the American Southwest. The entire assemblage comprises 14,882 human skeletal fragments, as well as the mutilated remains of dogs and other animals killed at the massacre site — Sacred Ridge, southwest of Durango, Colo.Based on the archaeological findings, which include two-headed axes that tested positive for human blood, co-authors Jason Chuipka and James Potter believe the genocide occurred as a result of conflict between different Anasazi Ancestral Puebloan ethnic groups.Given basic established patterns from more recent ethnic cleansing in Yugoslavia, Iraq and Rwanda, the researchers think political structures that had been keeping ethnic conflict at bay probably broke down at Sacred Ridge.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.
